Why is Doug running for Port Commissioner? • My grandparents, parents and I have raised

our families here since the early 1900's. I hope my children will be able to stay here and enjoy the quality of life that is possible today in Jefferson County. The decisions the Port is about to make can shape our economic future in such a way that the next generation will be able to afford to raise their families here as we have done.

Why is Doug running for Port Commissioner? 2. My life-long passion for nautical history and

interest in maritime issues, combined with 23 years as an executive director, make the Port Commission an excellent fit for my interests and skills. Dramatic changes at local and national levels in our political landscape have served as a call to action for many and after 30 years away from elected politics, I feel the need to get involved.

Why is Doug running for Port Commissioner? 3. Recently widowed and with four young

children, this is a job I can do that provides fair compensation for the time required. This is a job opportunity that will allow me to continue my current work as President of College Planning Network, provide additional resources for my family and use my skills to engage in work that is focused on an area of personal interest.
