What Are We Building

• 15 underground stations and 10 surface stops – 9 km below ground and 10 km above ground

• A maintenance and storage facility

• A 19-kilometre route separated from regular traffic

• Transit communications system

• Links to 54 bus routes, three subway stations,

GO Transit, and a new UP Express station

Science Centre Station Update

Pedestrian tunnel

• has been fully waterproofed and U-fill has been placed to nearside of the struts allowing struts to be removed.

• falsework has been removed inside and is stacked ready to be hoisted out allowing backfill to commence.

• Once backfilled, temporary pavement can be reinstated.

Main entrance

• excavation is past 3m deep and all crossing utilities are now supported.

• excavation work has been accelerated to 12 hour workday, plus half days on Saturday, thereby allowing us to accelerate excavation schedule by approximately 3 weeks

• Accelerating the excavation schedule provides us flexibility to better manage traffic, intersection piling and deck installation opportunities.

West Portal

• composite pavement has been saw cut and has mostly been removed and disposed of.

• bulk excavation underway in the area of the u-shaped structure.

East Portal

• rebar to the u-shaped structure invert slab is ongoing

• Watermain work set for September 10 thru 14 from 8:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m.
