Right from baby’s very first days andup to the seventh month, it is es-sential to disinfect thoroughlyeverything that comes into contactwith your baby’s mouth. In fact theimmune systems of babies are notstrong enough to counteract thegerms and bacteria that damagetheir health, and normal washing isnot sufficient to protect them frommicroorganisms in the surroundingenvironment. For these reasons, asteriliser is needed. Brevi’s universal electric steam ster-iliser features a heat sanitisingmethod. It is a safe and effectivemethod that is fast and natural be-cause items are sanitised thanks tothe high temperature of the steaminside the steriliser. It does not in-volve the use of any chemical sub-

stances. It makes it possible to disinfect whenever and wherever feeding accessories suchas bottles and teats, or small objects babies use such as dummies. The Vivalapappa ster-iliser has been designed with a rectangular “space-saving” shape that is practical andtakes up little room. This allows you to optimise the space it occupies on kitchen work-tops better than those with a round or oval shape generally found in shops. How does air ionisation work?

The air that we breathe is charged with electricity, therefore loaded with pos-itive (+) and negative (-) ions. A perfect balance between them ensures ourwellbeing. The parts

In the modular systems, a single frame can be used forany of the following, as needed:1. the carrycot for the pram2. the car seat for the 0+ Group (which can be used

from birth up to around 13 kgs in weight)3. the buggy seat

How to use the parts of the Modular systems

The carrycotRight from the first day, the carrycot is as comfortable asa cradle. It clips onto the frame to become a comfortablepram. Brevi’s rigid frame cots (available for Ovo car andAvenue models) are without doubt the largest and mostcomfortable on the market: in fact the internal room willhave enough space for your baby up to the age of sixmonths. The internal sizes are in fact 33 cm in width and73 cm in length, making sure your baby will always becomfortable. Brevi’s carrycots have a rigid base thatguarantees suitable support for your baby’s back,padding inside to protect baby from knocks and aventilation system, adjusted with external levers thatallow air to circulate. The carrycots feature an internalbackrest that lifts baby’s head when his muscle structuredoesn’t yet support itself without tension being createdin the neck. During car journeys, the carrycot should beplaced on the backseat and secured with the seatbelt,using the fastening devices contained in the car safetykit.

The soft carrycot is only available on the Ovo model(with a soft sack) and offers the advantage of beingclosed and transported occupying the minimumamount of space during short journeys, while your childcan sit in the car seat of the modular system

The 0+ Group car seats which are so essential for the firsttrips outdoors can also be attached to the bare frame.The practical ergonomic handle allows them to be usedas a baby carrier, a baby seat for indoor use, or as a babyrocker.The car seats are classified according to the weight ofthe baby being transported. Group 0+ can be used frombirth up until the child weighs 13 kgs.In vehicles with a double front airbag it is obligatory toput the car seat on the backseat of the vehicle with theseatbelt fastened and facing the opposite direction tothe direction of travel. In vehicles without an airbag (ordeactivated) on the passenger side the car seat maybe placed on the front seat (in the opposite direction tothe direction of travel) and be fastened with the seat belt.

The buggy

From the age of 6 months, when babies can hold theirheads up unsupported, the buggy can be used alongwith all the necessary accessories. Of the Brevi modular systems, there are also models thatoffer the option of turning the buggy seat around to facethe parent (Parent-facing buggy), so that the move fromthe pram to the buggy can be achieved more gradually,and ensuring that baby’s need to relate with parents isalways satisfied.

The folding systems for the modular system buggiescan be of two types: “umbrella” and “fold-up”. Thedifference lies in the structure of the buggy frame andthe way of folding it (which is still simple for both systemsonce you have learned how they work). The means ofclosing the frame, the structure and the materials useddetermine the space occupied and weight of the buggy.The latest buggies are very small and lightweight, andoccupy minimal space when closed.

THE CARRYCOT 0m+

The OVO carrycot is as comfortable as a cradle; it hooks onto the frameto become a comfortable buggy and is the widest and most spaciousmodel available on the market. During baby’s first months it is importantto ensure that your child is always in a lying-down position, becausebabies breathe with their diaphragm, and if held in a vertical positionbreathing becomes more difficult because the abdomen is compressed.

For this reason a carrycot with a rigid base, is needed to providethe correct support. The spaciousness of the OVO carrycot

means it will be able to hold your baby even when the childhas grown up to 6 months in age. In fact internally it meas-ures 33 cm across and 73 cm in length. This will ensure your

baby is always comfortable. For long walks, having acapacious bag to hand in resistant waterproof fabric will be

important; this one has handles and practical hooks for securingit to the buggy. And whenever you want to use the car seat during cold weather, the cover of the OVOcarrycot can be used to cover legs while baby is in the seat. THE CAR SEAT Group 0+ (0-13 kgs)

The car seat for the 0+ Group can be used from birth up to the time whenthe baby weighs around 13 kgs (approximately 11 months). In vehicles

with a double front airbag it is obligatory to put the car seat onthe backseat of the vehicle and fasten it with the seat belt, facingit in the opposite direction to the travel direction. In vehicleswithout an airbag (or deacttivated airbag) on the passengerside the car seat may be placed on the front seat, in the oppositedirection to the travel direction and fastened with the seat belt.Installing it in the opposite direction to the travel direction is vitalfor the child’s safety, because in case of impact the child isprotected from neck injuries, and the weight of the body masswill be distributed across the backrest of the car seat. The carseat of the OVO modular system is called the Smart Silverline.It is ECE R44/04 certified and is fitted with an adaptor for theOVO frame. Its features (shown in the photo captions) aretruly exclusive. The system for anchoring it to the car seat belts issimple and easy to use. To ensure it can be cleaned thor-

Right from birth, it is wise to ensure that the place where your baby rests is a peaceful and safe place, freefrom excessive noise and with the right temperature and degree of humidity. To ensure peaceful sleep, itis a good idea to ensure the ambient temperature is the same throughout the home. The ideal temperaturein the room where baby sleeps should be between 18° and 20°C. It will be important to guarantee the airquality, and use humidifiers because baby’s heat regulation system is still incomplete (see pages 15, 16 and17 for the models we offer). Just a few simple guidelines will help you ensure your baby gets off to sleep inthe best possible way: ensure babies sleep on their backs, belly up; do not use pillows in the first monthsas they could make it difficult for the baby to move his head; use cotton mattresses that are the same sizeas the cot to ensure that feet or hands do not get stuck between the bars of the cot; and use cots with a rigidbase so that baby’s skeleton forms correctly. After the first 3-4 months, when your child starts moving more in-dependently, you can change from the cradle to the cot. Do not use dummy holders or chains during sleepas these could be dangerous.When baby is sleeping at home, at his grandparents’ or on holiday, there are various models with very dif-ferent functions and characteristics that adapt to baby’s growth.
