Player of the DayYesterday’s (unofficial) organizational player of the day was Timber Rattlers’ 1B David Denson. The La Puente, California native (renowned for The Donut Hole went 2-for-4 with 2 R, and 2 2B yesterday. Denson was drafted in the 15th round of the 2013 June Draft from South Hills High School.

Pitcher of the DayYesterday’s (unofficial) organizational pitcher of the day was Shuckers’ LHP Mike Strong. The Afton, Minnesota native (pop. 2,886) tossed two perfect frames yesterday, with two strikeouts. He lowered his ERA to 1.88 (14.1ip, 3er) on the season. He is holding right-handed batters to a .091 BAA (2-22) this season. Strong was drafted in the 10th round of the 2011 June Draft from Oklahoma State University.

Matt the Bat1B Matt Clark (Sky Sox) has reached base safely in 9 straight games, batting .389 (14-36) in that span with 7 R, 3 2B, 3B, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 3 BB & a .425 OBP. He has hit safely in all but one of those games & is currently on a 5 G hitting streak.

The Sky Sox held Iowa to only one run as they defeated the Cubs, 3-1, on Saturday. Starter RHP Josh Roenicke earned the win and moved to 2-0 on the season. He tossed 5.1 IP and allowed an ER on 4 H with 2 BB and 6 K. 1B Matt Clark went 1-for-3 with a run, walk and a double. RHP Corey Knebel converted his fifth save.

Colorado Springs Sky Sox - Pacific Coast League (American Northern) 4th, 10-19, 12.0 GB

The Rookie-level affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers will begin their season on Thursday, June 18 when they host the Missoula Osprey at 8:05 p.m. CT. The team will be managed by Tony Diggs who is joined by Coach Jason Dubois and Pitching Coach Rolando Valles.

The Arizona Brewers will begin their 2015 campaign later this year. They are managed by Nestor Corredor who returns for his third season. He is joined by Pitching Coach Steve Cline and Coach Al LeBoeuf.

The Dominican Summer League affiliate of the Brewers will begin their season later this year. They are managed by Jose Pena, who returns for his third season at the helm. The Mississippi Braves scored three runs in the top of the 10th to slide past the Shuckers yesterday. RHP Hobbs Johnson took the bump and allowed 2 R/1 ER on 5 H with 3 BB and 4 K in 5 IP. The Shuckers were down 2-1, but produced a run in the eighth to tie it up. RHP Wirfin Obispo took the loss, giving up 3 R/2 ER in 0.1 IP.

Brevard County squandered a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth inning, giving up five runs in the frame and falling to the Tampa Yankees, 6-2, on Saturday. RHP Brandon Woodruff took the bump and allowed an ER on 4 H with 5 BB and 3 K in 4.2 IP. RHP Kaleb Earls surrendered 5 ER in 0.2, suffering his first loss of the year.

The Timber Rattlers dropped their ninth straight, falling to the Quad Cities River Bandits, 6-3, on Saturday. Starter RHP Milton Gomez moved to 1-2 with the loss, allowing 3 ER on 6 H with 0 BB and 2 K. DH David Denson and SS Gregory Munoz each collected multiple hits in the game, with Denson knocking two doubles.
