1 System Requirements

Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or higher is required.

2 Bria 3.7.5 (October 27, 2016)

2.1 New Features

Show or Hide Local Video Preview

In the video screen, you have an option to show or hide the local video preview

where you see yourself. (BI-3182)

Click to show or hide the preview of your own image (shown on the

bottom corner). This is different from sending your image to the other party,

which is controlled by .

New Contacts Preference

If you have noticed some of your native contacts are not displayed in Bria's

Contacts tab (e.g., you have contact groups created on your device), this version

of Bria will have a solution for you. Make sure that Show All Contacts is

enabled under Bria's preferences. Enabling this setting displays all of your

contacts saved on your native contacts app, regardless of contact group settings.

Please report to https://support.counterpath.com if this does not work for you.

When opening a topic, please indicate which device you are using. (BA-6024,

5783)

Hyper Link Previews in Messages

In this version, our retail brand includes this feature. See Section 4.1 for details.

BroadWorks Feature Pack Improvements

This version contains various improvements for BroadWorks Feature Pack including:

Deleting a call log entry on a mobile device deletes the entry from the server-side log on the Xtended

Service Platform (XSP).

Call duration is displayed in enhanced call logs.

Bria displays basic call logs if it fails retrieving enhanced call logs from the XSP.

Bria refreshes the call history when the user visits the History tab.

A missed call indicator persists until the user opens the History tab.

2.2 Known Issues

Permission for Call Recording

If you see a dialog asking to give Bria a permission to record a call, answer Yes even if you do not intend to

record calls. This dialog is actually asking for a permission to access your microphone for making calls, not

necessarily for recording. Calls will be recorded if you manually start recording during a call, or if you enable the

Auto Record Calls preference. This dialog will be changed in a future release. (BA-6097)

Low Volume Audio

On some devices, the speakerphone sends low volume audio to the person you’re talking to. The workaround is to

set the Microphone Gain to High by going to Bria Settings > Advanced Settings > Media Options.

Screen Doesn’t Wake on Incoming Call

This is a known issue on Android OS for some devices where the screen remains off when receiving a call.

Double tap to wake the phone and answer the call. The list of open issues is available at Android Open Source

Project – Issue tracker at https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=79259

Dialer Integration

Bria 3.0 and 3.1 do not have native dialer integration; the dialer picker does NOT show up so the native dialer is

always used for making a call. This is a known issue on Android.

See https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=58097

Bluetooth issues on Android devices

Bluetooth integrates best with Android OS 4.0 or later. There are known issues in Android OS regarding

Bluetooth audio support for third party applications such as Bria. The full list of open issues can be found at:

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/list?can=2&q=Bluetooth&colspec=ID+Type+Status+Owner+Summary+

[Tablet Edition] No Video Sent to Remote End when a Video Call is Minimized

Bria stops sending video to the remote end when a video call is minimized. The call remains active (not on hold);

only video will be removed from the call. This is due to a limitation of the Android framework that does not allow

apps to capture video unless the camera preview surface is created and shown.

[Tablet Edition] Wallpaper

Users might see a flash of the Android wallpaper screen when navigating from the Bria main screen to the Bria

Settings screen (and vice versa). To prevent the wallpaper from appearing, go to Android Settings > tap Screen >

Animation and choose Some animations or No animations.

3 Bria 3.7.4 (October 14, 2016)

This version includes a fix for dialing contacts with hyphens in number.

4 Bria 3.7.3 (October 4, 2016)

4.1 New Features

Hyper Link Previews in Messages

When a user receives a web link as part of an instant message, Bria

provides a thumbnail view as well as the ability to open a preferred app

instead of simply opening the browser (e.g. launching the YouTube

app). (BA-5570)

4.2 Resolved Issues

This version addresses crashes reported by the users. If you encounter an issue, please report to

https://support.counterpath.com.

5 Bria 3.7.2 (September 28, 2016)

5.1 New Features

Android N Support

Bria 3.7.2 includes Android N support. When using Bria on Android N, you will be able to leverage new features

such as:

- Direct reply to new messages from Notifications

- Quick settings, allowing you to set online presence and turn on/off DND without opening Bria

- Direct boot support, ensuring Bria will alert you for incoming calls and new messages even without you

unlocking the phone after it reboots on its own.

Direct Reply from Notifications

Quick Settings

One-tap Voicemail Calling

Previously dialing a voicemail from dialpad required two taps: the vm

button, then the call button. Now only tapping the vm button connects to

the voicemail number. (BA-5303)

Multiple IM Selection

Now you can select multiple messages for deleting. (BA-5573)

New Icons

German Language Support

NAT64 Support for SIP Accounts

There are two settings under SIP account to enable NAT64 support over Wi-Fi or Mobile network. (BI-2746)

Release Notes Bria 3.7 for Android Edition and Android Tablet Edition

7 © 2016 CounterPath Corporation

On by default. Leave it on if there is a possibility that Bria is going onto an IPv6-only network, trying to reach

IPv4-only SIP services/infrastructure over Wi-Fi.

- Requires that the configured name servers support DNS64.

- Requires a Session Border Controller (SBC) with latching support, or a STUN server. ICE is not

supported.

- This feature is typically not necessary on platforms/networks where alternative IPv4-to-IPv6 transition

mechanisms are used (e.g. 464XLAT, Android CLAT).

When the NAT64 setting is on and Bria detects an IPv6-only network, it will try to use DNS64 to translate IPv4

addresses into IPv6 addresses. The NAT64 setting has no effect when Bria uses IPv4 to communicate with the

SIP server (in other words when the IP Version setting is set to IPv4).

<account_list>

<account>

<data name="enableNat64SupportWifi" value="true"/>

<data name="enableNat64SupportMobile" value="true"/>

</account>

</account_list>

IPv6 Support for SIP and XMPP

New settings have been introduced to control the IP version for DNS lookup, SIP signaling and XMPP

connections. You can choose one of the following options for each SIP/XMPP account.

- IPv4 - Bria uses IPv4 and does not look for IPv6 at all.

- IPv6 - Same as above, except it uses IPv6.

- Prefer IPv4 - Bria uses IPv4 first if it detects both IPv4 and IPv6.

- Prefer IPv6 - Same as above, except it uses IPv6 first. (default)

Note that the new setting does not apply to HTTP/S connections such as login and provisioning. Bria leverages

the OS native HTTP/S Framework for these connections. Customers using IP address for HTTP/S connections

must change the IP address to FQDN. (BA-5693)

For branded customers, the IP version is provisionable per account. The data type is integer: 0 = IPv4 only, 1 =

IPv6 only, 2 = Prefer IPv4, 3 = Prefer IPv6 (default).

5.2 Resolved Issues

There have been improvements in the overall stability and performance of Bria.

6 Bria 3.6.5 (July 12, 2016)

This version includes a fix for OpenSSL update. CounterPath recommends that all branded customers upgrade to

Version 3.6.5.

7 Bria 3.6.4 (June 9, 2016)

7.1 What’s New and Changed

Overall Performance Improvements

This release includes overall performance improvements on incoming and outgoing calls.

Proximity Sensor Setting [Android Phone only]

Use of proximity sensor can be disabled via a setting under Preferences. Enabled by default. Disable this setting

only if you encounter issues on your device.

Support for TLS Version 1.2

Bria now supports TLS version 1.2. By default, Bria uses the highest negotiated version between Bria and the

server from SSL V3 to TLS V1.2.

For branded customers, the TLS version is provisionable per account. Use the following setting to provision the

TLS version. The data type is integer: SSL_V3 = 2, TLS_V1_0 = 3, TLS_V1_1 = 4, TLS_V1_2 = 5, and

SSL_HIGHEST = 1000 (default).

<account_list>

<account>

<data name="sslVersion" value="1000"/>

</account>

</account_list>

Updated OpenSSL

This version of Bria uses OpenSSL 1.0.1s.

As per Google, all apps with older versions of OpenSSL will be rejected by the Google Play Store effective July

11th. For this reason, CounterPath recommends that all branded customers upgrade to Version 3.6.5.

Change in Call History

Calls that were answered elsewhere no longer appear as missed calls. Such calls are not logged at all in this

version; we are planning to log them as answered elsewhere in future releases.

Usability Improvement for Cancelling Contacts Creation [Android Phone Only]

Previously when creating a new contact on Bria, the user needed to tap the Android menu button and then select

discard changes in order to cancel contact creation. Now a single tap on the Android Back button allows users to

discard contact creation.

Enabling/Disabling the Use of SIP rinstance via Provisioning

By provisioning, customers can choose to add or remove the SIP rinstance parameter in the SIP Contact header.

This setting aims to provide better interoperability with some SIP servers.

<account_list>

<account>

<data name="useRinstance" value="true"/>

</account>

</account_list>

This setting is enabled (set to true) by default; the rinstance parameter is added to the Contact header.

7.2 Resolved Issues

There have been improvements in the overall stability and performance of Bria, including:

Improved Video Support for Asterisk

This version of Bria contains improvements for video calls using Asterisk call servers.

Switching between Wi-Fi and Mobile Networks

The previous version of Bria did not re-register immediately upon network changes. This version includes a fix

for this issue.

Keep Alive Intervals

The previous version of Bria did not honor the keep alive interval settings for SIP accounts using Auto mode for

transport. (The issue did not occur when UDP/TCP/TLS was specifically selected.) This issue has been resolved.

Bluetooth Audio Routing Fix

This version of Bria contains a fix for an audio routing issue where incoming ringtone does not play via speaker

when Bluetooth is enabled.

LDAP Wildcard Search Fix

This version of Bria contains a fix for a wildcard search for LDAP query. With this fix, the same value can be

provisioned to mobile and desktop clients from Stretto.

Codecs for an ITSP Partner

This version of Bria has the correct default codecs for Efon, one of our ITSP partners.

Go to Advanced Settings > Video Codecs Selection to enable or disable the Use Hardware Encoder and Use

Hardware Decoder settings. It is recommended to leave Use Hardware Encoder off unless proven to be beneficial.

Added Announcement Mechanism for important service and product notices

The option for an Announcement Mechanism has been added to Bria clients under Settings.

These “Announcements” will only be:

• used by CounterPath to communicate important product or service-related information to users.

• only displayed when a message is available.

BroadWorks Feature Pack

10.1 What’s New

Call Heads for active calls (Bria Android Edition only)

Call Heads are small, floating action buttons that contain your contact's picture or an avatar and provide easier

access to active calls.

Go to Bria Settings > Preferences to turn ON. Tap on the Call Heads from any screen on your Android device to

go back to the call screen. Move the Call Heads around, even when you're not in Bria.

Call Heads have three modes:

Active call with a phone icon on a green background.

Call on hold with a pause icon on a grey background.

Video call with a camera icon on a green background.

Network Quality Indicator

Network Quality Indicator on the call panel displays the network conditions as:

Support for XMPP vCard “preferred” property

In the vCard entries for XMPP Contacts, the phone number (s) for Work, Mobile, and Home designated as

“preferred” are displayed at the top of the list. This ensures that calls are dialed to the designated preferred

number (s). If there is no “preferred” phone number, the phone numbers display in the order they are received in

the vCard.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Permissions Support

When first running Bria 3.6.1 with Android 6.0, you’ll be prompted to pick and choose which permissions to

allow for individual features such as Camera, Contacts, and Microphone and so on. Permissions for Bria can be

managed by going to your device’s Settings > Device > Apps > Bria.

10.2 Changed

Removed the idle state icon from status bar

An alert now appears in the status bar only when an error condition occurs or when you receive an IM or SMS.

document.

"Licensor" shall mean the copyright owner or entity authorized by the copyright owner that is granting the License.

"Legal Entity" shall mean the union of the acting entity and all other entities that control, are controlled by, or are under

common control with that entity. For the purposes of this definition, "control" means (i) the power, direct or indirect, to cause

the direction or management of such entity, whether by contract or otherwise, or (ii) ownership of fifty percent (50%) or more

of the outstanding shares, or (iii) beneficial ownership of such entity.

"You" (or "Your") shall mean an individual or Legal Entity exercising permissions granted by this License.

"Source" form shall mean the preferred form for making modifications, including but not limited to software source code,

limited to compiled object code, generated documentation, and conversions to other media types.

"Work" shall mean the work of authorship, whether in Source or Object form, made available under the License, as indicated

by a copyright notice that is included in or attached to the work (an example is provided in the Appendix below).

"Derivative Works" shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and

for which the editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications represent, as a whole, an original work of

authorship. For the purposes of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain separable from, or merely

link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of, the Work and Derivative Works thereof.

"Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including the original version of the Work and any modifications or

additions to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the

copyright owner or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of the copyright owner. For the purposes of

this definition, "submitted" means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent to the Licensor or its

representatives, including but not limited to communication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems, and issue

Contribution."

"Contributor" shall mean Licensor and any individual or Legal Entity on behalf of whom a Contribution has been received by

Licensor and subsequently incorporated within the Work.

2. Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a

perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative

Works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute the Work and such Derivative Works in Source or

Object form.

3. Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a

perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable (except as stated in this section) patent license to

make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work, where such license applies only to those

patent claims licensable by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their Contribution(s) alone or by combination of

their Contribution(s) with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If You institute patent litigation against any

entity (including a cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work or a Contribution incorporated within the

Work constitutes direct or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses granted to You under this License for that

Work shall terminate as of the date such litigation is filed.

4. Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium, with or

without modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You meet the following conditions:

(a) You must give any other recipients of the Work or Derivative Works a copy of this License; and

(b) You must cause any modified files to carry prominent notices stating that You changed the files; and

(c) You must retain, in the Source form of any Derivative Works that You distribute, all copyright, patent, trademark, and

(d) If the Work includes a "NOTICE" text file as part of its distribution, then any Derivative Works that You distribute

must include a readable copy of the attribution notices contained within such NOTICE file, excluding those notices that

do not pertain to any part of the Derivative Works, in at least one of the following places: within a NOTICE text file

distributed as part of the Derivative Works; within the Source form or documentation, if provided along with the

Derivative Works; or, within a display generated by the Derivative Works, if and wherever such third-party notices

normally appear. The contents of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and do not modify the License.

You may add Your own attribution notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside or as an addendum

to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided that such additional attribution notices cannot be construed as modifying

the License.

You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and may provide additional or different license terms

and conditions for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or for any such Derivative Works as a whole,

provided Your use, reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with the conditions stated in this

License.

5. Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise, any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion

in the Work by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of this License, without any additional terms or

conditions. Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify the terms of any separate license agreement

you may have executed with Licensor regarding such Contributions.

6. Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade names, trademarks, service marks, or product names

of the Licensor, except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the origin of the Work and reproducing the

content of the NOTICE file.

7. Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each

Contributor provides its Contributions) on an "AS IS" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY

KIND, either express or implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions of TITLE, NON-

INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are solely responsible for

determining the appropriateness of using or redistributing the Work and assume any risks associated with Your exercise of

permissions under this License.

8. Limitation of Liability. In no event and under no legal theory, whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or

otherwise, unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any

Contributor be liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages of any

character arising as a result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the Work (including but not limited to damages

for loss of goodwill, work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all other commercial damages or losses),

even if such Contributor has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose

to offer, and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity, or other liability obligations and/or rights consistent

with this License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only on Your own behalf and on Your sole

responsibility, not on behalf of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold each Contributor

harmless for any liability incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason of your accepting any such

warranty or additional liability.
