I have been out and about with my begging bowl raising funds for my Charity ALZHEIMER’S SOCIETY, a dreadful disease for all the people who suffer from it. I wish to convey my indebted gratitude to all the organisations, businesses and members of the public who have made donations to this worthy cause. The Town Council’s Civic Officer Abigail Grosse and I are looking forward to our sky dive (not really) which is just a few weeks away ~ it's not too late to sponsor us two petrified individuals. My charity chest has just over three thousand pounds but my target is five thousand, I still have time to reach my goal with your help. Spring has sprung and we look forward to our visitors who I hope will be able to negotiate our ever changing road system! We have seen many retail outlets close due to the economic climate and with the closure of Marks & Spencer it is a great loss to the Town, but it's not all doom and gloom as the Premier Inn is up and running and it is hoped that other businesses may well invest in Bridlington's future. It has been a very difficult time for our Town centre traders during the regeneration process but hopefully it will all be worth it. The Town Council requests the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to levy a charge on every domestic property within the three Bridlington wards. This charge is known as the Precept and the cost to each household is dependent upon the Council Tax Band that the property falls into. The bands range from ‘A’ to ‘H’ and the Town Council’s 2018/2019 Precept ranges from 26p per week for an ‘A’ band property to 79p per week for a ‘H’ band property. The Precept has seen a 0.32% increase this year. However, this is solely due to the increased tax base. The band ‘A’ to ‘H’ amounts will benefit from a 0% increase this year and will remain the same as the previous financial year. If you have any queries regarding your Council Tax or any of the services provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council please contact their Customer Services on: Tel: 01482 393939. Mr Keith Murray is a local businessman who makes a difference and always ensures that he helps people, with not only their legal needs, but by also undertaking charity work. He continuously runs & supports events, sponsors projects and has literally raised thousands of pounds for local people in the local area. He has done so many things to help others in numerous ways and a Citizen of Honour Award to Keith Murray is a thank you from the Bridlington Town Council in recognition of all the things he has done and continues to do for others in Bridlington and the local area. BRIDLINGTON TOWN COUNCIL RECEIVES ACCREDITATION

The Bridlington Town Council is very proud to announce that it has been accredited the “Quality Award” by the National Associations of Local Councils (NALC) governing body. This award proves that the Bridlington Town Council operates and meets with the high standards set by the sector and has passed inspections of excellent practice.

The criterion for accreditation is very specific and includes having a CiLCA qualified Town Clerk. Examinations have taken place over the last year on the Council’s documents and the Council’s website to ensure the Bridlington Town Council’s eligibility.

SEAGULL & BIRD NESTING ISSUES Seagulls nesting on your home can cause several problems. They are usually very noisy and wake up early; they create a lot of mess from droppings; they can cause damage to buildings; and they can be very aggressive, especially when their young are leaving the nest. The main solution for property owners is to undertake bird-proofing measures to deter the birds from roosting and/or nesting upon the building in the first place. A range of proofing methods exist including spikes on chimney pots, gutters, dormer windows and windowsills etc, nets of the correct size to repel gulls, Posts and Spring Wires. Advice and proofing can be sought from private pest control companies.
