Introduction
Cultural management & the digital shift -
Using the digital process to reach out and in-
crease participation.
Digitalization has profoundly transformed cul-
ture and arts in terms of production, creation
and cultural participation. Contemporary cul-
tural workers need to manage and develop their
digital skills and competencies in order to be
partoftheknowledgesociety,andtoworkto-
wardsthemodernisationofculturalcentresand
theempowermentoftheircommunities.
This theme will intersect with cultural manage-
ment,averypopulartopicamongBECCpartic-
ipants,embracing thepersonalpredispositions
andinterestsinthefieldsofprofessionaldevel-
opmentandculture.Thispartofthetrainingwill
beenrichedwithelementsofcoaching.

fied Art-Therapist), Katrin Reiter (AT, Strategic

which starts now (the moment you read this
introduction),andendsattheevaluationphase
ofthisproject.
I will offer different tools to support your
self-reflection, self-assessment and self-
empowermentinthecontextofyourprofessional
development. Moreover, I will stimulate the
group process underlying the importance of a
learning community and stimulating creativity
groundedinmicro-interactions.Youmayexpect
individual work, small chats with me, work with
yourlearningpeersandwithinthewholegroup.
USING THE DIGITAL PROCESS FOR REACHING OUT AND INCREASING PARTICIPATION
byAndreaFolieandKatrinReiter
The spirit that guides the training will be
collaboration:getincontact,shareexperiences
and knowledge, explore new tools and digital
possibilities, expand your network, learn from
eachother,getideasforparticipativeaudience
work.
The trainingwill beparticipative, therewill be
space to develop and experiment crossmedia
together,inaction.Somepeoplewillcontribute
to the training online and there is a field trip
planned to get inspiration and insights from
outside.
The focus is on the process and the power of
strategic networking in an analog and digital
way, during the entire workshop days as well
asthedigitalshifttrainings.Weinvolvepeople,
their knowledge, experience, skills and needs.
The participants will get in touch with their
vision, share their ideas, tools and projects,
explore possibilities, make connections, scout
their space, focus on their target groups and
multipliers, and expand their services, always
keepinginmindthestrategicredline.Exploring
andexpandingskillsisthetopic.
Thefollowingquestionswillbeguidingus:
- how do we use digital tools to think
strategically?
-whatisourcontent?
- how can digital tools support my goal, my
project,myteam,mycommunity?
- how can I reach different targets, a new
audience?
The workshop structure:
-getincontact-participativedigitalnetworking
- themagic of structure, network and (digital)
spaceandhowtomanagethesestrategicallyto
keepthefocusandachieveourcommunication
goals
-discovertogetherdigitaltoolsandthepractical
powerofcooperation.

My passion lies in art and cultural mediation for theatre,
concerts, school projects and more. I create intercultural
andintermedialparticipationmodelsforlocalcommunities
and educational and cultural associations, and I develop
strongnationalandinternationalnetworks(bothdigitalandface-to-face)between
them.Digitaltoolsareinterestinginstrumentstoexpandhorizonsandopennew
communicationpossibilities.
Itisafact-thedigitalshiftischangingourlivesandourbusinessstructures.There
isnowayaroundit:wemustcreatedigitalconcepts.Intheend,italwayscomes
downtoproject-specificquestions:Howwecanreachnewaudiences?Howcan
wecreatenetworkswiththeresourcesthatwehave(timeandmembers)?Finding
answerstothosequestionsisoneofmystrengths.

Iamavisualartist,facilitator,coach,therapistandprocess

ofeveryoneandtapsintothecollectivecreativityofthegroup.JustrecentlyI’ve
creatednewmethods supporting theempowermentof thosewhocome from

It’sallaboutcreation.Ilovetolookbehindthescenes,bring

in the field of intercultural and intermedia education. My
speciality is connectingpeople fromdifferent institutionsandgiving themtime
andspaceforparticipativeconceptionandstrategicdevelopment.Inrecentyears,
contentmarketingandthinkingfromtheperspectiveoftheaudiencehasbecome
increasinglyimportant,aswellasthequestion‘Howcanwereachpeople?’.This
inturnischangingorganisations’structures.Thedrivingforceofthosechangesis
