REPORT SUMMARY
UNDERWATER INSPECTION
The structure inspected at Structure No. L6492, two precast concrete arch pipe culverts, was found to be in generally good condition with no defects of structural significance observed. The concrete of the structure was generally smooth and sound. A 2 to 6 inch thick layer of silt typically covered the culvert floor.
(A) The floor of the culvert was typically covered with a 2 to 6 inch layer of silt.
(B) The concrete of both culvert pipes was sound with no defects of structural significance observed.
(C) The channel bottom material at the west and east openings was soft organic silt allowing up to 1.5 feet of probe rod penetration.

The routine underwater inspection of Bridge L6492 (TWP 129 over County Ditch #11) was completed on October 26, 2016. The underwater inspection was conducted from shore. The inspection was conducted by a team consisting of a PE-Diver with a valid MnDOT Team Leader certification, a backup diver and a dive tender. The inspection utilized commercial dive equipment and techniques (SSA and/or SCUBA) in accordance with OSHA regulations. Profiles were taken along the upstream and downstream faces of the bridge and around the periphery of substructure units to determine the presence, location and area of scour.
The bridge elements inspected consisted of a two barreled concrete arch pipe culvert. According to the bridge inventory or design drawings, the barrels were approximately 7 feet wide and 4.5 feet high. Inspection procedures followed FHWA guidance and the MnDOT Bridge and Structure Inspection Program Manual with channel bottom probing to search for foundations. The routine underwater inspection frequency is recommended to remain at a maximum of 60 months based on those findings and risk factors. Also, inspection procedures should continue to follow the above approach and standard guidance with 100% Level I and 10% Level II intensity efforts.

Notes: 1-7-93 High ice conditions again this year so couldn't inspect effectively.12-02-97 There is not much room to examine the inside of the pipes, approx. 18"1-19-2000 It has been a dry year and there is only 6 inches from the inside top of pipe to the frozen water line.9/23/2010 Pipe are once again running full. Have contacted Mn/DOT and will place on the list for underwater inspection in 2012. Will rate downuntil underwater inspection is complete.100/21/14 Underwater inspection completed in 2012, no notable findings. Pipes consistantly run full, will recommend underwater inspection oneach cycle
