CITIZENS BANK NEWPORT PELL BRIDGE RUN

Dear Runners,

Welcome to the inaugural Citizens Bank Newport Pell Bridge Run. Citizens Bank is honored to sponsor this ex-clusive opportunity for runners – the first road race over the Pell Bridge in 25 years.

Today we join in supporting the communities in which we live and work. As you run over the bridge, remember that a portion of your registration fees will benefit five Rhode Island nonprofit organizations and the good work they do each and every day. From providing youth services to supporting the needs of our brave veterans, today’s race will have an impact on our community long after the last runner has crossed the finish line.

Thank you for participating in this exciting race.

See you on the bridge!

Best regards,

Ned HandyPresidentCitizens Bank, Rhode Island and Connecticut

WEEKEND SCHEDULE

Thank you again for participating, and thank you to Citizens Bank and the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority for al-lowing us to run over this historic Rhode Island landmark. In order to put on this unique event, strict time constraints must be met by us, the organizers, but more importantly, by you all - the runners. We understand that the early start time, shuttles, and the point to point nature of the race add some unique challenges. We ask for your cooperation in adhering to your shuttle assignment in order to get everyone to the start line in time.

Please allow yourself ample time on race morning to park and load onto your designated shuttles. Dress warmly, and most impor-tantly, enjoy the view!

PACKET PICK-UPRunners are strongly encouraged to attend packet pick-up on Saturday, November 12th at the Newport Marriott from 12:00 - 4:00p.m.

Those who do not pick up their packet (timing chip, bib, shirt, goody bag) on Saturday, can do so on Sunday from 4:45 - 5:30a.m. But again, due to the tight time constraints of race morning it is highly suggested that all runners pick up their bibs on Saturday.

Friends or family ARE allowed to pick up bibs for participants.

SHUTTLESBecause of the unique nature of this race, shuttle times must be strictly enforced. All participants will be assigned to two waves of shuttles leaving from the Newport Gateway Center.

All runners must have their bibs in order to ride on the bus. No spectators will be allowed on the shuttles.

Wave One: 5:00 a.m. Bib # 1100-3000

Wave Two: 5:30 a.m. Bib # 1-1099

Shuttles are one way. There will be no shuttles returning athletes to Jamestown after the race so please park in Downtown Newport.

PARKINGParking will be available on race morning at the Newport Visitors Center Garage and a number of other local parking lots. Please see the map on page 7 for suggested parking locations.

On street metered parking is allowed and free throughout all of Downtown Newport as well.

RACE TIMINGThe race will use the B-Tag timing system. This is a disposable timing tag that is attached to the back of your race bib. All runners will receive their B-Tag at registration.

SPECTATORSAll spectators are encouraged to view the race from the intersec-tion of Washington and Van Zandt, Farwell St. and Van Zandt or at the finish line on the corner of Marlborough and Thames St. Due to road closures in Newport and Jamestown, we do not recommend spectators attempt to view the start or drive over the bridge during the race.

FUNDRAISINGCrowdrise: There is still time to raise money or donate to one of our charitable partners or the cause of your choice. Runners have already raised more than $7,000 on Crowdrise, our charitable giv-ing platform at www.crowdrise.com/NewportPellBridgeRun.

Silent Auction: In addition to Crowdrise, our silent auction has some excellent items donated by our race sponsors. All items are online and bids will be accepted at registration on Saturday as well as post race on Sunday near the finish line. To start bidding, visit: www.32auctions.com/organizations/2445/auctions/2684

AID STATIONOne water station will be set up at mile 3.1, just after runners get off the Newport Pell Bridge.

TIME LIMITSAll runners must be off the Newport Pell Bridge by 7:30 a.m. This requires a 15 minute/mile pace and will be strictly enforced. A race sag vehicle will be picking up participants not across the bridge in this time limit.

GEAR BAG DROP OFFTHERE WILL BE NO GEAR BAG DROP. Dress appropriately for the cold and wind, it is recommended that athletes wishing to shed layers at the start or during the race wear items they are willing to donate to charity. Race staff will pickup all gear left on course and donate it to charity.
