TRANSCRIPT
Materials: ‘Off the shelf’ mini-kits and models
Treatment Adherence Mini-Kit
The facilitator directs participants wearing these
masks through interactions to explain immune
response to HIV and TB and motivate treatment
access and adherence.
Activity: What happens in the body. ‘ARV’ is supressing
‘HIV’, allowing ‘White Blood Cell’ to recover and eject the
two ‘Opportunistic Infections’ which had been dancing
freely around the ‘body’. It also demonstrates HIV mutation
and treatment failure resulting from non-adherence.
VMMC / Condom Training Models
For demand creation and for demonstrating
and training both surgical and PrePex non-
surgical procedures.
Materials with Training
The following kits are supplied normally as part of
3, 4 or 5-day facilitator training programmes to
build skills, knowledge and confidence to achieve
greatest impact with this SBCC methodology.
Bridges of Hope 90-90-90 Toolkit
Treatment and stigma-related activities to clarify
technical issues and motivate behaviours towards
realising the zero discrimination and 90-90-90
treatment goals - by 2020:
♦ 90% know if they are living with HIV; of these
♦ 90% on ART;
of these
♦ 90% have
supressed
viral load
Bridges of Hope Combination Prevention Toolkit
A participatory training toolkit to engage
participants, clarify the range of HIV-prevention
options now available and motivate appropriate
preventative behaviours and actions.
At a bus station, participants try to avoid card crocodiles
and sharks (health threats and challenges) and reach the
island (goals and aspirations) by walking on stick bridges
(health seeking behaviours and support.)

Comprehensive Bridges of Hope Health and
Wellness Training Kit
This applies the methodology to address a broad
range of health and wellness issues including HIV,
TB, MNCH, substance abuse and malaria.
Training materials created and tailored for specific
issues, target / key populations and contexts
We work collaboratively to create and tailor
participatory training programs for SBCC
interventions targeting specific populations, issues
and contexts. These typically combine adaptations
of relevant existing activities, as well as developing
innovative new materials. For example:
Tanzania Communication and Development Center
– Safari ya Mafanikio (Journey of Success)
community resource kit for HIV, TB, VMMC, malaria
and MNCH.
Malawi Bridge Project - Hope Kit,
Have a Healthy Baby and Bambo
Wachitsanzo
JHU/CCP Ghana - Journey of Hope
Health Communication Capacity
Collaborative (HC3) Liberia Ebola
Program - Bridges of Hope Kit
South Africa Correctional Services - Pollsmoor
Prison – Bridges of Hope Program

how amazing the Bridges of Hope tool is and
the changes it has made and is still making in
a lot of people’s lives. The activities are very
participatory and can be used in so many
ways. They can break down very complicated
explanations to convey a message to
participants in a way that is clear and
unforgettable.”
