The BriefCreate a Graphic Design collective with seven other members.

ConceptThe concept for the collective comes from the idea that each of us wanted the opportunity to just design elements we enjoy and not have a purpose behind them as such. This was set to be a play brief but with outcomes that could possibly promote us in the end. Each of us has a unique skill so week on week we set a brief in order for us to be able to showcase this skill and then came back together to show what we had produced.

Brief one: What is a geek? Create a piece of Graphic Design that communicates our induvidual geeky skill.

Brief two: In the zoneCreate a piece of Graphic Design which communicates what one thing in particular gets each of us ‘in the zone’.

Brief three: Guilty pleasureCreate a piece of Graphic Design which shows what our guilty pleas-ure is. The subject does not have to be Graphic Design related but can have some link.

Brief four: Alter egoCreate a piece of Graphic Design to show who or what our alter ego is if we were to not be Graphic Designers.

PublicationClaudia and Baljeet took on the task of designing a publication for the Geek Table that could be sent to professionals as a way of promoting ourselves and a nice piece of print to summarise this brief. The publication has a section for each of us and we have chosen one of our favourite Geek Table pieces as well as explaining our induvidual geeky skills and including our contact details.

Final printsI chose to do four postcard prints for my final Geek Table pieces because this brief was partly to do with self promotion so I thought I could use these to promote my geeky skill and work. The pieces were also designed quite small by hand so it made more sense to have them on this scale so any detail could be seen. I’ve printed them on to watercolour card to add to the handmade aspect as I feel the texture of the stock does this well.
