    A DIVINE MESSAGE

The 'Vedas' are the Supreme Texts and their origin is Transcendental. Such supreme texts conferreda paramount status to Sri Radhaji that is unequalled by any God or Goddess of universes. Brahma Deva declared in the Radhikopanishad, 'My longevity is insufficient to describe the Treasure of Divine Qualities of Radhaji.' This unique and sacred Upanishad also stated that one who worships Sri Krishna without first knowing Radhaji's presence is indeed a great stupid. The Supreme Lord with a view to manifest all His latent ecstatic features (Rasa) in His Divine Play Himself became Sarveswari Sri Radha. Sri Krishna declared that Sri Radha is His Deity of worship and it is impossible for Him to praise Her virtues.

    1. SRI RADHAJI'S DESCENT

Sri Radha is the repository of compassion. To grace the Rasik Devotees, she descended to the Earth in an unprecedented manifestation. No Divine Incarnation has shown such an extraordinary Leela (play) of descent. Sri Radha assuming the form of a small girl descended and revealed herself at village Ravali in the Vraj Mandal. Her birth was not of human origin. At the early hours of Suddha Ashtami (eighth day after New Moon) of the month Bhadhrapada, Sriji manifested Herself as a two-year girl child. Raja Vrishabhanu, who had a premonition about the arrival of the Divine child, reached the place of descent near Ravali along with his entourage. Amidst sacred Vedic recitations and symphony of various musical instruments the king took Her along in a golden palanquin to his palace. Later, as She had attained the age of 12 years She left the earthly plane along with Govinda for Her Transcendental Abode-Ras Brindavan. That is why She is acclaimed as 'Sada Dvadasa

  • Varsheeya' (always 12 years old).

    2. SRI KRISHNA'S DEITY OF WORSHIP

In our land Sri Krishna's Name, life history and His philosophy of love are widespread. However Sri Radhaji's Swaroopa Tatva (philosophy), Leela Madhurya (Divine Play), Nitya Prasanna Kala (Ever charming presence) was not familiar in many regions. As a result even the learned persons in the society assume that Sri Radha is an ordinary Gopika or Lover of Sri Krishna or else they tend to have a feeling that, like Lakshmi Narayana and Seeta Rama they too are related as wife and Husband. But these assumptions have no relation with Truth. We regard that it is our pious duty to reveal the world about this absolute truth. We travelled through the length and breadth of the Leela Kshetra of Radha Krishna- Sri Brindavan for a few years and had studied the averments of number of ancient books. The perusal and comprehension ofthese Holy Texts have ultimately presented us a clear picture proving that the earlier understanding is nothing but a perverted form of reality and has no relation with Truth at all.

Such averments by scriptures unfold the secret that Sri Radha is the Goddess of worship of Krishna.

    3. EMBODIMENT OF HLADINI SHAKTHI

The Lord manifested himself many a time upon the Earth to protect the righteous. In each of his incarnations He eliminated the wicked-minded and the cruel with weapons like Sudarshana Chakra(wheel-shaped weapon). Such actions have ended the lives of wicked-minded. But their wickedness was not eliminated. As a result, they later assumed demonic forms and continued to create disturbances in the world, unseen. But Sriji Radhaji without even touching the wicked, without uttering a single word, removes the wickedness ingrained in them by transmitting the wavesof Divine Love. The Leela (Divine Play) that was displayed by Sri Radhaji in the sacred Life of Harivamsa Prabhu, which has been narrated in this book, is a shining example to Her invincible power known as Hladini sakthi.

    4. THE RULER OF BRINDAVAN. (BRINDAVANESWARI)

Brindavaneswari Sri Radha is served by eight Sakhis (companions) 'Lalitha, Visakha, Champakalatha, Sudevi, Rangadevi, Thungavidya, Chitralekha and Indumukhi. Each of these eight sakhis has eight sakhis. All the Sixty-four Sakhis assuming as sixty-four Kalas (Divine traits) worship and serve the repository of Kalas- Sri Radhaji incessantly. And roaming in the Nikunjas (bowers) She rules over the Vrindavan. (Please refer to the Second Chapter Sri RadhaDevi in Puranas and Ithihasas, for details)

The sound Ra..dha.. is spontaneous in its origin. The letter 'Ra' connotesgenerosity and graciousness. None other than Sriman Narayana told

Narada that Sriji's pre-eminence in bestowing liberation to the Seeker isunequalled by any other God or Goddess.

    -Brahma Vaivartha Purana

    7. BLESSES SUBLIME PRINCIPLES OF DIVINE LIVING

Sri Radha is the repository of Divine Love. When she descended to the Earth, she bestowed upon the Jeevas to the great Principles Divine Love. Divine principle 'Thath Sukhena Sukhithvam' '( in your happiness lies my happiness'). She herself set an example by practicing this principle. One daySri Radha saw a vision that Kanhaiya was shedding tears of Divine Lover incessantly chanting 'Radha 'Radha'. Forthwith she ordered Sakhis to chant Her own name in Her Nikunja instead of Krishna's Name. For Radhaji the pleasure and happiness of Krishna is the sole preference and nothing else.

    8. BESTOWS RASA (DIVINE ECSTASY)

Many people have some understanding about Sri Radha Krishna. But the Roles they enact in the Leela (play) of elevation of Jeeva are hardly known to many. In a Divine Leela they themselves revealed the world about the roles they assume in the Jeeva Leela (Pastime for the elevation of Jeeva)

  • Sri Krishna's Role:

It is but natural that the ignorant Jeeva tends to lead a strayed life in the world. The way to mend and mould the mind of ignorant Jeeva is known only to Krishna 'The Supreme Master of the Universe. He cures the ailment called Avidya (attachment to prakrithi) through His myriad majestic methods and ultimately leads him to Vrindavan Dham and to the Lotus Feet of Radhaji.

    Radhaji's Role:

Sri Radhaji's Power known as Hladini Shakthi is the supreme among Divine powers. With a single glance, with a single touch she immerses the mind of Jeeva in Divine Ecstasy. So munificent She is!She evolves the jeevas surrendered at Her Feet by Krishna into Rasik Devotee (Devotees of Rasa).

    9. ELEVATES THE SEEKER TO HIGHER PLANES

She has taken a few Devotees who unflinchingly surrendered to Her. Boy Rehman, Shyamanandaji, Hita Hari Vamsa Prabhu and Sevakji's life histories acquaint us how Sriji taken them into Her Nikunja Leela, with no trace of their physical bodies upon the Earth.(Readers would find life stories of such supreme devotees in this volume)

    Scriptures about Radhaji

Many a sacred books such as upanishads, puranas, Samhitas, and Tantras have proclaimed the super-eminence of Sri Radhaji Sarweswari Sri Radhaji (Creator of Universes) the Goddess worshipped by Sri Krishna.

Innumerable authoritative pronouncements in the above Sruthi, Smrithi, Puranas revealed that the philosophy of Sri Radha (Radha Thatva) is infinite, extraordinary and unfathomable. The Parama Purusha's Love, Beauty, Play and Tenderness that are manifested as Radha are incomparable and transcend comprehension.

    Conference On Sri Radhaji

In the year 1961 a great conference was held at Patna. The convener of the unique conference was Dr. Baldev Upadhyaya. He was a great scholar, professor and researched in Saskrit language. In the Banarus Hindu University, Dr Upadhyaya taught Sanskrit for thrity seven years. He has also headedthe research on the Puranas and Ithihasas for a long time in the university. He was a jewel in the world of Sanskrit language. The sole subject that was deliberated and discussed in the conference was - "Sri Radhaji". Scholars, linguists and poets from all parts of the Bharathavarsha who participated in the three day conference have dwelt on the Swaroopa (form) Swabhava (nature) and philosophy of Sri Radhaji on the basis of Vedas and Upanishads. At the end of the conference the participants declared with one voice that Sri Radhaji is the Mukhya Shakthi (paramount power) and Swamini (Master) of Sachidananda poorna Purushothama (The Supreme Lord). They also announced that this is the essence of all-spiritual texts and scriptures. The essentials of the discussions held at the conference were released as a book of 523 papers known as 'Bharatheeya Vangmayme Sri Radha'

TRANSLATION OF A FEW SENTENCES FROM THE ABOVE BOOK

"Sri Radhaji is the essence of Divine magnificence and splendour. The Transcendental Mother is personified Madhurya Swaroopini (Divine Ecstasy). She is the origin and nourisher of Divine Ecstasies. She is the glorious Divine personality standing beyond various devotional practices enshrined in different spiritual traditions of Bharatha Varsha (India). She is meditation (dhyan) and the result of meditation (dhyeya) as well. She is Sadhana (practice) and Sadhya (the goal of Sadhana) as well. She is everything. The Indian Literature became sacred by Her Divine Luminescence. She is the supernatural form of Divine Love roaming in the realms of spiritual literature. Her light of love is all pervading. After recognizing Her manifestation the pens of poets started effusing Divine Elixir.

She is Divine Light of Rasa (Supreme Divine Ecstasy). She is the embodiment of splendours of Rasa and its glorious effulgence. The endeavour of a singer to hear the musical sounds of Her anklets in his songs or the painter's adventure to reveal Her beautiful Divine Image or a sculptor's soulful attempt to carve Her glorious Form - all these attempts are thoroughly incomplete. Is it possible to depict an unlimited object with limited tools of art.?"

  • Such discussions continued for three days. The philosophy of Sri Radha was revealed to the world on the basis of Vedic literature in this unique conference.

The author of this book has decided to release 8 volumes containing 2000 pages in a series named as 'Brindavaneswari Radha'. These books reveal the Divine philosophy, play and ever-munificent nature of Sri Radhaji. For the well being of the world so far we have released 1) Sri Radha Para Tathvam, 2). Brindavaneswari Sri Radha Vol I 3) Brindavaneswari Sri Radha Devi Vol.II and distributed them to devotees free of cost. We are not writing this third volume out of our volition. Indeference to the order of Sri Radhaji, offering devotional prayers, our society had resolved to release this volume. The author has felt that it is his pious duty to present the world the Holy Revelations about Sriji at least to a certain extent that were reverentially extolled by the sacred Vedas. We have resolved to overcome any number of impediments coming in the way of completion of these volumes and also resolved to distribute these books free of cost to the earnest devotees who have avowed to read them with devotional love and sincerity. May such devotees be blessed with the grace of Sri Radhaji. We have also decided to release this volume in three languages (Telugu, Hindi, and English) to disseminate the sweet fragrance of Rasika Bhakthi throughout the world. The Life of Sri Radhaji is replete with great Divine plays that are not visible in the annals of any religion. At present Sri Dham Vrindavan is the most important centre of Devotional Love in the world. Many kings of Jaipur, Bhopal, Ajmer have built magnificent Radhakrishna temples in Vrindavan out of devotional love. But the most significant and inspiring fact is the Divine plays thatare revealed directly by Sri RadhaKrishna even today.

    'Brindavana parithyajya padamekam na gachchathi'

I will not move a single step out of Vrindavan.

The avowal of Sri Krishna is proved to be true every moment in the Sri Dham Vrindavan. We also present the readers in this volume, the verses of Sri Radha Sudhanidhi, which were revealed to the world by Divine voice in the lifetime of Rasika Siromani Sri Sri Hitha Harivamsa Prabhu. It is my great fortune to propagate the philosophy of Sri Radha and the Divinity of Radhaji's Name all round the world and to dedicate my life at Her Lotus Feet as an instrument and I regard this as the result of my Purakritha Sukrutha (blessed consequence of pure deeds in the past).

    Translation:

Once Sages Sanaka and others who are shining with Divine power have praised Brahma Deva and enquired "Oh! God! Among all Gods and Goddesses who are prominent? What are their powers? Among these powers which is the Supreme and Primordial that has caused the existence of creation?

Responding to their questions God Brahma replied "Dear sons listen carefully. This is most sacred truth and the great secret indeed. This should be revealed only to affable Jeeva Brahmavadi and Guru Bhaktha (Devotees of Guru). If this secret is revealed to a non-devotee itwould be lead to a great sin.

Lord Sri Krishna is the Supreme Lord. He is the Absolute Divine resplendent with Shadaiswarya(Six Opulences). He is incessantly served and worshipped by Go, Gopa and Gopikas (Cows, Cowherd boys and girls). He is the Lord of Vrindavan. He is the only Sarveswar. Vrinda Devi worships Him. Sriman Narayana is but His own Swaroopa. He is the Lord of all the fourteen universes and is beyond Prakrithi. He is eternal Being. He has great powers like Ahladini, Sandhini, Gnanecha and Kriya. Among them Ahladini is the most prominent power. This Shakthiis of Sri Radha. Lord Sri Krishna himself is engrossed in Her worship.

Sri Radha too worships Krishna continuously as Radhika. Sri Radhika is also known as Gandharva. Out of Her transcendental form all the wives of Krishna and Goddess Lakshmi Deviemerged.

The ocean of Rasa for the sake of Divine play has manifested as two. Sarweswari Radha equals Krishna in all the 'Kalas' (Divine aspects). She is the life of Krishna. She is the quintessential Prema Swaroopini. All the Four Vedas worship Sri Radhaji in solitude. The Rishisendowed with Brahma Gnana(Knowledge of Brahman) acclaims Her greatness. Even if I endeavour throughout my life span, I cannot fully describe Her Mahima (paramountcy)) and HerDivine play. That Jeeva who receives Grace of Sriji, he only could reach Her Divine Abode

  • (Parama Dham). That being is a great stupid who worships only Krishna ignoring Sri Radhaji.

Different Names of Sri Radhaji as enshrined in the VEDA:

1.Sri Radha 2. Raseswari 3. Ramya 4.Krishna Manthradhi Devatha 5. Sarvadya 6. Sarva Vandya 7. Vrindavana Viharini 8. Brindaradhya 9. Rama 10. Asesha Gopi Mandala Pujitha 11. Sathyasathya para 12. Poorna Chandra Nibhanana 26. Bhukthi Mukthi Prada 27. Bhava Vyadhi Vinasini. That human who recites these Divine names with devotion attains liberation while living on the Earth" said Brahma Deva. After explaining the supremacy of Ahladini Shakthi of Sri Radha "Sandhini Shakthi" is described in this way. This Shakthi assumes the form of Dhama (place of Divine incarnation) Bhushan (ornaments), friends and followers and in the Marthya Loka (plane of the Birth and Death) evolves as Mother and Father. This Sakthi is the reason for all Divine Incarnations.Gnana Shakthi (power of Knowledge) is called Kshetragna Shakthi ( the power of Kshetragna or Jeeva). This is innate Maya Shakthi of Icha Sakthi (intention). This is basis for "Trigunas" (Satva, Rajo, Tamo) and enshackles the Jeeva to Prakrithi through Avidya (ignorance). The Kriya Shakthi of Lord is Leela Shakthi (Divine Play).Whoever reads this Upanishad will be endowed with Brahma Gnana (the knowledge of Brahman). He becomes pure and pious and gets the love of Sri Radha Krishna. The graceful vision of this fortunate Jeeva sanctifies the minds of fellow beings.

A discussion arose among Brahmavadi Rishis as to why only Sri Radhaji should be worshipped. At that very moment a great illumination appeared before them. That light is of the VEDA. It said:

The innate Divine power of all Gods and Goddesses emerged only from Sri Radhika Devi. We the Vedas bow before Sri Radhaji with reverence who is the power and creator of all Gods and Goddesses.

By Her minutest grace, all the Devatas(Angels) dance in ecstasy. By her slightest annoyance they shiver in fear. We too worship Her with our heart and soul to graciously condone our shortcomings.

By whose light the colour of Shyam that resembles the light of Indra Nila Mani, turns into colour of Gold and whose glance the black birds of nature like crows, cuckoos become golden, to that Mother of universes we Salute in veneration.

Whose Divine Glory, we the Vedas, the Upanishads, the Sankhya Yoga could not comprehend, whose glorious Divine Play, the Puranas (Epics) could not depict, to that Brahma Swaroopini SriRadhaji, we salute with devotion.

We salute Sri Radhaji, who is the Pranadhishtana (life giver) Devatha of the dictator of universes Sri Krishna, who is the worship Goddess of Lord Sri Krishna and who is the protector of devotees.

The ardent devotee of Divine Love, the ruler of universes-Nandanandan, whose feet dust He wears upon His head in whose Love does He forget all His Vibhoothis (Divine Splendours) like the Flute and to whom He sold out Himself, to that Supreme Goddess (Sri Radha Devi) we salute in devotion.

By viewing whose Divine Play Chandra (the Moon) and the celestial maidens forget their body consciousness and are nonplussed in love and ecstasy to that Raseswari (Sri Radha) we offer our Pranamas (Salutation)

Resting in whose lap the Sachidana Purushothama Sri Krishna forgets even Goloka, who is thecreator of Goddess Lakshmi and Parvathi, to that ocean of power (Sriji) we salute in deep reverence.

Engrossed in whose Guna Gana (singing of Divine traits) with three varied levels of musical notes (Mandra, Madhyama, Tara/Ghor) the Sakhi Gana (the Group of Sakhis ) of Vrindavan forgot days and nights and carried away by their Love-intensity, who had arranged Brahma Rathri (the night of Brahma) and graced them Ras Ecstasy ceaselessly, to that Prema Murthi

  • (embodiment of Love) we bow in devotion.

Who sings the Flute (Murali) with Her tender fingers assuming the form of Dvibhuja Krishna (Dual Armed Krishna) who is adorned by Nanda Nandan with Jasmine, Kalpa Vriksha flowers, we salute that Sri Radha Devi in devotion.

Sri Radha and Krishna both is one ocean of Rasa. These two Roopa (forms) are like body and its shadow. At any instance, they have no separation. Those devotees who drink the nectar of their Divine play invariably reach the ultimate Divine Abode.

THE LINEAGE OF GURUS AT PRESENT FOR THIS PHILOSOPHYThe knowledge of this Theatre (philosophy) passes on from the Sun to Sage Vasishta, from Vasishtato Brihaspathi and from him to his disciples Kacha, Indra etc.,The Radhikopanishad contained in Adharvana Veda is completed.

    3. A Few More Quotations from Veda Vedanga1. SAMAVEDA RAHASYA

Anadyogam Puruha Eka Evasthi Tadekam Roopam Dwidha Vidhaya Sarvam Rasan Samaharathi Svayameva Nayikaroopam Vidhaya, SamaradhanaTat paro bhooth Tasmath tham Radham Rasikanandam Vedavido Vadanthi

The primodial 'Purusha' is one. By becoming two forms He illumines all Rasas. Himself assuming as Nayika, He also became Goddess of worship. The Vedic Rishis addressed Her as 'Radha'.

    2. Radhika Taponiyopanishad of Adharvana Veda

Yeyam Radha Yascha Krishno Rasabdhi Dve Drukchaika, Kridanardham Divdhabhooth Deho Yadha Chayaya Sobha mana

Sri Radha and Sri Krishna are not two but they are one ocean of Rasa. They are one and the same like a body and its shadow.

    3. Brihadarnyaka Upanishad - 4th Brahmana

Savai naiva rame Tasmadekaki Na Ramathi Sa Dvithi Ya Maichath

He cannot play. He cannot play by being alone. So he intended for His second form.

    4. Taithariyopanishad

    Raso Vaisaha

  • THE BIRTH OF RADHAJI AS ENSHRINED IN PADMA PURANA:

The Janma Leela of Sri Radhaji has been majestically depicted in Padma Purana. The details as enshrined in the 'Purana' are given here in this book.

King Vrishabhanu was a great devotee. Radhaji one day graced him with Her transcendentalSakshatkar (appearance) and told him that she would descend to the Earth near village "Ravali'. Replete with Divine ecstasy the king, his wife and other companions reached the village from Vrishbhanupur (Barsana). On the Seventh day before full moon of the month 'Bhadrapada', at 5.00 in the early hours Golden all around Sri Radha parameswari descended the Earth as a two year girl child.

At that time dried-up trees turned green, stones started singing melodious notes, dumb began to talk and the lame climbed hills, entire nature thus grew escstatic by the enrich of Hladini Shakthi. Ladli has grows up for ten years in Barsana. She remained as a girl of twelveyears even after. This is the super nature Janma Leela of Sri Radhaji.

Knowing the descent of Sri Radhaji, Sage Narada come up Barsana and requested Vrishabhanu to give him an opportunity to see Laadli Radha. The king prostrated before the sage and said "Maharshi, due to my Sukrutha (good deeds of the past), I am blessed with the presence of Ladli Radharani in my House."

Narada saw the Divine child and prostrated before Her golden swing. By the Grace of Sri Radhaji Narada has immersed in Bhava Samadhi (ecstatic state of Bhav) The great sage returned to consciousness and extolled Sri Radhaji in a majestic verse.

Oh! Parameswari! You are the 'Sandhini Shakthi' Latent in the 'Sachidananda Swaroop' (Lord Krishna).

    Oh! The enchantress of Krishna.

    Oh! The Lover of Vrindavan.

Oh! Rasa Swaroopini, you are the embodiment of Yoga Shakthi. You are the controller of 'Maya' You are an ocean of 'Rasa'. Your vision always remains inward. From your majestic tranquil face, inexplicable light of divine ecstasy is emerging.

Oh! Mother! Brahma, Rudra and the like are cannot comprehend your Tatva (Divine philosophy). You do not appear even in the meditation of great yogis. You are the origin of Icha(desire), Gnana(Knowledge) and Kriya (Action) Shakthis. Mother! All Divine incarnations arise only from you. Oh! Janani! I desire to behold that beautiful Divine phenomenon which is worshipped by Lord Sri Krishna." At that very moment a most enchanting and resplendent form of 'Kishori' appeared before Naradaji around beholding the Divine effulgence Radhaji, the Maharshi became unconscious.

Radhaji's Sakhis awoke him by giving the 'Charanamrutha' (water used for feet-washing) of Radhaji and they said "Oh! Narada what you have seen is the unique and rare form of Sriji

  • that is worshipped by Sri Krishna." Narada your fortune has no parallel. Even Gods like Brahma, Rudra, did not have the darshan of this form Sri Kishori", "She is going to disappearsoon. Prostrate before Her immediately, "advised the Sakhis, Narada did the same. The Mother of universes disappeared a few moments later.

Mahamaya divides and distances the Jeeva from God and Yogamaya bring him close to the Lordand unite with Him. Maya is one of the Shakthis of Radhaji.

    2. Brahma Vaivartha Mahapurana

Avayorbheda budhincha yah karothi Naradhama, Thasya vasah kalasuthra yavat Chandra divakaro ||

That jeeva who thinks that we are different from each other will suffer in the Hell- 'kalasuthra', as long as the sun and the moon exist.

Yadha samasta brahmande sri krishnamsa Jeevinaha | tadha sakti swaroope tvam tesh sarveshu samsthita ||

As the jeevas are the amsa(parts) of the supreme lord Krishna, so also you are the all pervading sakthi(energy, power) swaroopini.

Tvam krishnangardha sambhoota tulyakrishnena sri krishnasthva mayam Radha tvam Radha vaa Hariswayam,Nahivedeshu me drushta ithikena niroopitham |

These words uttered by Brahma Deva praising the Divine Glory of Sri Radhaji at Bhandira Van.

Oh! Devi! You have born out of the body of Krishna. In all respects you are equal to Krishna. Sri Radhe! you appear as Krishna, and Sri Hari assumes your form. This unique truth is not elucidated in the Vedas.

The inseparability and oneness of Radha Krishna should be understood as a great truth that is beyond the reach of the Vedas. When this is revealed by a God like Brahma it is surely an authoritative saying.

Adau Radham samchardha paschatkrishnam paratparam | sa eva panditho yogi golokam yathi Lilaya ||

These are the words of Ganeshji in Sri Krishna Janma Khanda. Radhaji's name should be remembered first prior to that of paratpara Krishna. One who abides by this instruction is a Scholar, yogi and enters into Divine play of Goloka.

Krishnam vadanti mam lokasthvavaiva rahitham yadha | Sri krishnamcha sada te api tvayaiva sahitam param ||

I am Krishna. Accompanied with you I am Srikrishna. You are 'Sri' form (swaroopini). You are the prosperity and sustenance of the universes. You are the almighty.

Pura brindavane ramye goloke rasamandale | Ratna simhasane ramye tasyatatra jagatpatihi ||

Sveschamayascha bhagawan vabhoovo ramanotsukaha | Ramaneem kartumichhacha tadvabhoova sureswari ||

  • Etasminnantare durge dvidha roopova bhoovasaha | Dakshinangascha sri krishno vamangam sacha radhika ||

Tasyaschamsamsa kalaya vabhoovardeva yoshitaha | Vabhoova gopee sanghascha radhaya roma koopataha ||

This is the occasion of descent of Radhaji. Within the precincts of Raas (Ras Mandal) that is resplendent in the middle of majestic Vrindavan of Goloka, the Lord is ensconced in a jewel studded throne. The Lord who is the lover of freedom and sport became two - as Krishna on the right and as Radhika on the left. Out of Her majestic form all other Goddesses born. So also innumerable Gopis born out of Her transcendental Body (Sri Vapu) and from Her left side Goddess Mahalakshmi appeared.

Sri Radha is the consort of Krishna and resides in His chest portion (vaksha sthala). She is the life-breath of Krishna.

Tvam me pranadhika Radha preyasee preyaseepara | Yatha tvamcha tadhaham cha bhedohi navayoh dhruva ||

Yadha kheerecha dhavalyam yadhagni dahaka sati | Yadha prudhi vyam gandhascha tadhaham tvayi santata ||

Vina mruda ghatam karta vina svarnena kundalam | Kulalah svarna karascha nahi sakthaha kadachana ||

Tadhatvaya vina srushtim nachakartumaham kshamah | Srushte radharabhoota tvam beejaroopo ahamachyuta ||

The above are out of verse no. 5 to 60 from the 15th Chapter of the Canto 'Sri Krishna Janma Khanda' of 'Brahmavaivata Mahapurana'.

Radha! You are my sweetheart, more lovable than my own life. I am like what you are. Like whiteness in the milk, inflammability in the fire, aroma in the Earth you are inseparably present within me. A blacksmith cannot produce pots without earth and goldsmith cannot make ornaments without gold. Likewise without you I am not capable of performing the creation of universes. For the entire creation I am the seed and you are the source of sustenance.

Tatkalakoti kotyamsa durgadya trigunatmika | Tasyanghri rajasaha sparsat koti Vishnu prajayate ||

From the billionth part of your opulence Goddess Durga and others who consist of Tri Gunas have born. By the touch of the dust particle of your Lotus Feet crores of Vishnus have born.

    3. Devi Bhagavatam

Radhnoti sakalan Kaman tasmat Radheti keertita

She is extolled as Radha as she fulfills all desires.

Krishnarchanaya nadhikaromato radharchanam vina | Vaishnavaih sakalaismat kartavyam radhikarchanam || Krishna pranadhika devee tadadheeno vibhuryatah | Raseswari tasya nityam taya heenona tishtati. ||

One who doesn't worship Radha has no eligibility to worship Krishna. The duty of every Vaishnava is to worship Radhaji. She is the life-breath of Krishna and is controller of Raas

  • played by Krishna. There is no Krishna without Radha. Thus the Vedic literature announced that Sri Radha is Raseswari (the master of Raas)

    4. Brahmanda purana

Radha krishnatmika nityam krishno radhatmika dhruvam |

The soul of Radha is Krishna and the soul of Krishna is Radha. This is a certain truth

    5. Narada pancharatra

Yah Krishna saapi Radha ya Radha Krishna eva saha |

That transcendental form who is Krishna is certainly Radha. That who is Radha is certainly Krishna. Both are one and the same.

Satyam satyam punassatyam satyameva punah punah | Radha namnavina loke matprasado na vidyate ||

This is Truth and Truth. Once again this is Truth I am telling. I will not shower my grace on that Jeeva who does not worship Sri Radha.

    6. Aadi Varaha purana

Ghataetva tatastha sminnarishtam vrisharoopinam | Kopena parshighatena mahatirtham prakalpitam ||

Sri Krishna killed a demon by name Arishtasura who assumed cow-form. Knowing the incident Radhaji said, "Eventhough he is a demon he is in the cow-form. Killing a cow is indeed a great sin." Krishna prayed for atonement. Then Radhaji said, " Take bathe in the Holy waters of seven rivers." Krishna immediately created a tank that is replete with the Holy waters of sacredrivers. The tank is called Radhakund as it was created at the instance of Radhaji.

Taking bath in the Kund removes even great sins like 'killing a cow', killing a Brahmin and bestows a result equivalent to performance of Rajasuya yaga or asvamedha yaga. ( The village where Radha kund is situated is still called Arishta Gram)

    7. Vraja Purana

    a. THE DIVINE LEELA OF CHITRA SAKHI:

Chitra Devi is one of the Eight Sakhis of Radhaji. Sri Radha Krishna revealed innumerable divine plays in Vraj Dham (Abode). Some of these 'plays' are displayed in the form of music and dance drama called as 'Raas'. Here is an incident in the life of Chitra Devi.

King Vrishabhanu's son Sridama is an intimate friend of Bala Gopal (Boy Krishna). Sridama one day requested Gopal to give him his ( Gopal's ) portrait so that he continue to see him at home during night after returning from grassfields alongwith cows and calves. Everyday when he meets Gopal in the grass fields he repeated the request. One day Bala Gopal sat near his mother Yasoda and sweetly asked Her, "I want my picture immediately. Sridama is asking me for it everyday" Yasodaji said, "Kaanha, when you are very much here before us why does he need your picture? "Amma, he wants to keep it with him during night. He said

  • it gives him the feeling that I am with him during nights also. He wants to be with me night time also" said Kaanha. Sreedama's tender feelings towards Bala Gopal moved Yasodaji. Next day she met the famous artist of Vraj-Chitra Devi. She wants to give the job of drawing the Kaanha's picture to her. But Chitraji who is spinster and a yogini declined see a male person. Yasoda said that her son is small kid and is very innocent. Chitraji agreed to see the boy at Yasoda's House. Chitraji is an artist of rare ingenuity and she is also a devotee of Goddess Saraswati. Merely by watching a person she can draw his picture immaculately. Hergenius is well-known in the Vraj.

She gazed at Bala Gopal few moments and went back to her house. The versatile artist Chitraji could not capture the image of boy Krishna within her sharp mind. Any number of attempts became futile. Chitraji meditated on her Deity Goddess Saraswathi. When she appeared before Chitraji prayed for energy (Shakthi) to draw the Boy's picture. Mother Saraswati replied ' Chitra, it is beyond my shakthi to bless you what you want. You do not know who this boy is. He is none other than Paratpara Purushothama (Supreme Lord) who is not accessible even to Gods like Brahma, Rudra and the like. With Grace of Sri Radhaji alone you would be able to visualize the image of the Boy Krishna-the most charming boy in the Vrindavan. Goddess Saraswati disappeared.

Later Chitraji meditated on Sri Radhaji. Her penance culminated with the transcendental appearance of Radhaji. With Her blessings Chitraji drew the image of the most charming boyof the universes and gave it Yasodaji.

But the Chitraji's mind was captivated by the Supernatural Divine Form of Sriji. Her life is filled with Divine Bhav (feeling of separation and love) of Radhaji. Chitraji's devotional love and intense feeling of separation ( viraha bhav) attracted Radhaji. Radhaji told her, " I am pleased by your love and feeling of separation. You will be my companion(Sakhi) henceforth". Thus Chitra Devi has reached the abode of Radhaji (Rasa Brindavan) as one of the eight Sakhis (maid companions)

    b. THE CORONATION OF RADHAJI:

The coronation of Radhaji is the majestic transcendental leela of Radhagovind. It is detailed the texts of Vraj.

Prominent disciple of Sri Krishna Chaitanya, Sri Raghunadh das Goswami quoted this Divine Play of Radhakrishna in his famous book 'Vilapa kusumanjali'

Preetya mangala geetha nritya vilasadvinadi vadyotsavaih | Suddhanam payasam ghatairbahu vidhaih samvasitanam bhrusam || Vrindaranya mahadhipatya vidhaye vidhaye yah pournamasyasvayam | Dheere samvahitah sa kim tava mahaseko maya drakshyate || ( Sloka-87 )

While melodious sacred lyrics are sung around, while majestic dance is spread all around in tune with musical notes of Veena (musical instrument) and other instruments, Pournamsi Devi (a companion) has arranged for your ceremony of coronation as the Supreme Authority of Vrindavan with sacred waters. Can I behold such majestic arrangements for the coronation of Radhaji? Thus sang the Goswamiji in Vilapa kusumanjali filled with Divine Bhav of a Manjari.

The coronation of Radhaji was not a secret happening. The celebration reached its culmination with quintessential dancing and music all around the Vraj Mandal. The Mahabhisheka (ceremony with sacred waters) has been performed on the banks of the

  • Yamuna in the presence of multitudes of of Gods and Goddesses of universes, king Nanda , king Vrishabhanu and queen Kirtikumari many other Go, Gopa and Gopi ( the cows, cow-herds and vraj maidens).

Swamini of Goddess Tulasi Devi-Sri Radha Rani is bold in Her disposition. Sri Krishna who is fond of such ceremonies always wanted to behold enthronement (Pattabhisheka) celebrationof Radhaji. He ordered Brindadevi to arrange for a grand celebration. Addressing PournamasiDevi, Brindadevi loudly announced the commencement of Coronation Celebrations. All the residents of Vraj could clearly hear the announcement..

On the day of Mahabhisheka watching the effulgent and charming elegance of enthroned Radhamahadevi the very companions of Sriji were bespelled, others present there immersedin inexplicable currents of joy. The ecstasy of Krishna knew no bounds. Beholding the coronation of His Swamini, Yamunaji and Goddesses like Rudrani, Indrani and their companions mingled in the celebrations as Gopikas to immerse in the great happiness. Melodious musical magnificence enveloped entire Raasmandali. The slogans 'Jaya jaya Vrindavanadhikarini, Jaya Jaya Raseswari' reverberated in the entire precincts of Raas. Later, the Sakhis of the Ruler of Vraja Mandal Sri Radha Rani had distributed different portfolios of Service among themselves whereas the moon of Vraj (Vraja Chandra) Sri Krishna immersed in viewing the glorious festivities.

The coronation ceremony of Radhaji was amply detailed in 1. Kartika Mahatmaya.2. Ras keli kaumudi and Sthava Mala of Rupa Goswamiji. 3. Madhava Mohotsav of Jeeva Goswami.

The Coronation Celebration is also a part of Divine Play of Sri Radhakrishna. It is impossible to detail the many and varied streams of Divine Plays naturally emanated from the Grand Celebration of Coronation of Sri Radha Rani.

The whole universe which is called as Brahmanda is like a prison. Jeevas enchained to karma remain here. The movements of the inmates of this prison are closely watched by a great power, it prevents escaping from the prison. The sacred Texts(Puranas) described the great power as Maha Durga. Whereas in the Maharaas the Lord protects the devotees from the effects of demonic forces which try to debase them. The Lord also direct the minds certain deserving Siddhas who attained some powers due to the influence of Maha Maya to VrindavanaDham to enable them receive the Grace of Radhaji.

Yatpadamburuhaika renu kanikam moordhna nidhatum nahi | Prapurbrahmasivada yopyadhi kritim gopyaika bhavasraya || ( Radhasudhanidhi )

Gods like Brahma, Rudra could not get the touch of the feet dust of Radhaji. She is the ocean of Divine Love i.e.Rasa. With the feeling of Gopi (Gopi Bhav) Krishna can be attained but to reach the Lotus Feet of Radhaji the devotee should possess Sakhi Bhav (an intense flow of devotional feeling of a maid companion)

    8. Sri Chaitanya Charitamrut

Sri Chaitanya Charitamrut me Sri Krishadas Kaviraj Goswami padji varnan karte hai: (Adileela Parichched 239-242) ----

    1. Ama Ehathe Anandith hai thribhuvan Amake Anand Dithe Sadhe Kaun Jan.2. Ama Haithe Yar Hai sath Sath Gun Sei Jan Ahladithe Par Mor Man. 3. Ama

  • Haithe Gunee bada Jagathe Asambhav Sakali Radhi the thaha kari Anubhav. 4. Koti Kamajin Roop Yoyaapi Amar, Asamordhya Madhurya Samya Nahi Yar. 5. Ydyapi Amar Rase Jagath Saras Radhar Adhar Ras Ama Kare Vas. 9. Ydyapi Amar Sparsh Koti Indu seethal, Radhikar Sparsh Ama Karu Suseetal.

Krishna with a heavy heart is contemplating within himself in this way. " Eswarah paramaha Krishnaha " Oh! Govinda You are the Foremost Lord and embodiment of Sachchdananda( you are the cause of the causation". Thus the scriptures acclaim my blissful form. Because wthin my Transcendental Form all the Universes are sustained. All humans, angels and all beings derive pleasure from the waves of Divine Happiness emanating from me. But no being can ever give happiness to me. Only Sri Radhaji can bestow profound pleasure to me. Her gracious glances would immerse me into intense Divine ecstasy.

"Who can possess great virtues than me in the whole universe? Only Sri Radha who is the treasure of virtues ( Divya Guna ) is resplendent with greater virtues than me". Even Brahmadeva said that his longevity is insufficient to describe the higher virtues of Radhaji.

My Flute attracts thousands of Gopis along with all universes. But its music is not giving me anypleasure. If Radhaji comes near and touches me saying ' Kanhaiya' I forget all Universes and immerse in extreme joy and happiness.

RASIC SIROMANI SRI SRI HARIDASJI MAHARAJ

The Vedic manthra reads as 'Raso Vaisaha '(He is Rasa). The ultimate destiny of Jeeva is 'Rasa '. The Divine play of Radhakrishna i.e. Raas Leela was born out of Rasa and Raas Leela is the pinnacle of Divine Philosophy or Vedanta. The Master (Swamini) of Raas Sri RADHAJI's eight faces represent Her eight maid companions

  • (Sakhis). If Radhaji is an ocean, Her eight companions are like eight great rivers and all the rivers tend to flow towards ocean. The Sakhis have no other destination than Radhaji. The ocean of Rasa -Sri Radha manifested Herself in two transcendental forms for the sake of DivinePlay. These two forms are reverently addressed by Vedic Rishis as Radha and Krishna.'Yah Krishna saapi Radha Yah Radha Krishnaeva saha'- Narada Pancharatra. That Transcendental Form (Swaroop) who is known as Krishna is indeed Radha. That who is Radhais indeed Krishna. Their transcendental nature is one and the same. The goal of worship of Brindavan is RASA (Rasopasana). For the devotee of Vraj the goal is not Govinda but RASA. Revealing the philosophy of Rasa for the well-being of the world is the religion of Rasik Devotees (or devotees of Rasa). Their life, their sustenance and their very raison d'tre is Sri Radha and their goal of life is to participate in Her eternal play (Nitya Ras). The life stories and instructions of such great devotees who are dearest to Sri Radha appear in this Volume.Sri Haridasji was one of the greatest Rasic Saints of Vrindavan and was an incarnation of Lalitha Sakhi who is most prominent among Eight Sakhis of Radhaji. Once when he was a child his parent took him to a Shiva temple to perform abhisheka (service with milk, water, honey etc.) When the boy about perform the divine service every one heard a voice. It said " this boy should not carry on abhisheka. He is the Sadguru of Mahadeva (Shiva)". In the transcendental Vrindavan at the behest of Radhaji, Lalitaji once graced Shivaji with the sacred six lettered manthra of Radhaji at a time when He was performing great penance to behold and participate in the Vraj RAAS. Here on the earth the Divine Voice stopped the boy from performing the Service as he is the manifestation of Lalitha Sakhi.Haridasji used to immerse in meditation in Nidhivan (a garden within Vrindavan). His disciples amazed to see him offering namaskar to a particular place in the garden every day. When asked about the significance of the place he said, " the repository of the spiritual wealth of the universes manifested here" A few days hence the dual idol (yugal murthi) was dug out and installed in a temple. Since installation for three days every one heard the sound of breathing continuously from the idol. Thousands of people blessed with the darsan of the Dual Idol. He is worshipped as Ban ke Bihari (One who roams in the gardens). By this very name the Supreme Lord who is resplendent at the altar of Universes declares that He is beyond any name. By the influence of Ban ke Bihari hundreds of western families settled in Vrindavan to lead a life of Divine Service and worship. History tells us that Emperor Akbar has visited Brindavan as a fakir to have the darshan of Haridasjiwho is the main reason behind the appearance of Bihariji. The court musician of Akbar (Tansen) had become Haridasji's disciple and served him. The Indian Government released a postal stamp in the honour of this saint of lyric and music of Rasa. Here in the upcoming pages we present readers a translation of an essay of Dr. Bhagavan Sahascheri who is a disciple in the path of Haridasji. In this essay the author acquaints us about the Divine philosophy of worship of Radhaji blessed by Swami Haridasji Rasiksiromani Sri Sri HaridasMaharaj's Radha Tatva Chintan (Divine philosophy of Sri Radha)The Holy Name Sri Radha creates streams of Divine nectar within the ears. More than the name Sheis Bhav (highest divine feeling). She is transcendental, eternal and primal. The Bhav cannot be attached to a logical mind that generates thoughts and intentions. It can be understood only in the state of inwardness because it belongs to the eternal joy emanating from Divine Play of Supreme Divine Personality in the worship of RASA (It is called Rasopasana). The Bhav is obviously super natural and it is beyond the reach of speech and mind. It emanates joy and ecstasy every moment

  • and is resplendent with enchanting luminescence. That Rasa or ecstasy or light can be visualized only with Divine Eyes. Even its outlines cannot be perceived with the help of speech. Only that transcendental sight immersed in' Radha Bhav' can portray its quintessence. Obviously that portrayal is not a result of imagination. Attaining the inner sight of Radha Bhav is not at all easy. Only the Grace of Radhaji can take us to the realms of Her Divine Presence.None otherthan Sri Krishna is be spelled while chanting the name Radha. He cannot live a moment without Radhaji. The very intention for comprehensive understanding of Mahabhava Swaroopini Sri Radhaji is indeed a hallmark of stupidity and ignorance.By nature (sahaja swaroop) She is neither a mere daughter of Raja Vrishabhanu nor a loving gopi ofKrishna. Sri Krishna too is not a mere son of Nanda Babu. Sri Krishna is the primal Brahman(Paratpara Brahma) Sri Radha is primordial power. She sustains and controls the RAAS. She is the supreme controller of Brindavan and the originator of universes. She is the embodiment of Supreme Divinity and She is the life of Rasa of Rasic devotees. She is the quintessence of centuries-old spiritual prosperity and excellence of Bharatavarsha. She is the goal of Vedas and Shastras. The very Upanishadic pronouncement 'RASO VAISAHA' is addressed to Her. She is the Nada Brahman (Brahman as sound) of Nada Brahmavadi (who worshipsound as Brahman). She is excellence inherent in a poet's art and the supernatural ecstasy that roamsin the Divine verses of Jayadeva, Vidyapathi, Chandidas and Surdas. Sri Haridasji's majestic lyrical beauties converge into Nikunjeswari Sri Radha. Sri Radhaji's philosophy (tatva) is unfathomable and any magnitude of description about Her cannot reach out to its fullness. It is the Supreme Philosophy and is beyond all existing philosophies. Sri Radha Tatva is fully resplendent in the Rasicpractices of Swami Haridasji. The discussion on Radha Tatva commenced nearly two thousand years ago and during its long course cast its light on many languages and many literary works of Sanskrit, Prakrit and modern languages. In the devotional literature of Krishna Bhakthi (Devotion of Krishna) Radhaji is shining as Hladini Shakthi. Advaitists regard Sri Radha Tatva as the Supreme State in their spiritual path. Several Spiritual Masters commented on Sri Radhaji. For Her devotees she is beyond any description or anycomparison. Sri Krishna's devotees like Surdas have meditated on Radhaji and extolled Her as the worshipper and adorer of Sri Krishna. The foremost commentator on Syamasyam who are lovingly engaged in Divine Play in Vrindavan is Swami Haridasji. He is the personification of lyric and music of Sri Nikunja (abode of Sri Radhaji) His life is a vivid reflection to the Upanishadic saying 'Raso vaisaha ..labdhvanandi Bhavati'. His revelations and commentaries about Radhaji assumed new dimensions. Sri Haridasji is a steadfast and single minded devotee of Sri Radhaji. He is an incarnation of Lalitha Sakhi. His path of worship (upasana) of Radhaji is supreme among Acharyas (masters) of Vrindavan and in his worship or philosophy there is no place for mundaneness. To reveal the transcendental and unique relationship of Paratpara Sri Krishna and Rasa Raseswari Radhaji he descended to the earthly plane. He established the oneness of Priya Priyatham (Syamasyam) and his heart was replete with non-duality of Syamasyam. Eventhough Radha and Krishna have one life, one soul and one philosophy, to arouse and to flow-out Prema Bhav (feeling of Divine Love) in the hearts of devotees of Transcendental Love, they manifest as two. As soon as the intention for Play (Leela) is awakened in the heart of Radhaji, She manifests Paratpara Purusha Sri Krishna. She is the repository of ever new and ever charming Divine virtues. Without Her presence Krishna cannot live even for a moment. She is the protector of life of Krishna. The Supreme Lord Krishna says it is impossible to extol the Divinity of Sri Radhaji. One cannot

  • imagine how difficult it is for the ordinary Jeeva to become a companion (Sakhi) to Sri Radhaji. Only the Grace of Sri Radhaji can lead and elevate him to such Supreme State. If Her Divine virtuesof pure sattva are imbibed and realized even by a fraction Devatas (angels) can transcend to higher divine planes. Swamiji extolled the Divine light immanent in the Philosophy of Love graced by Srijiin his majestic verses of music and dance. The Master (Swamini) of Haridasji Kunjaviharini Sri Syamaji's Divine opulence and resplendence is beyond comparison, beyond definition and description.Sri Radhakrishna dual is natural in form and eternal in its presence. Syamasyam's gold and black light resembles lightning in a black cloud. Both are equal in age and their Divine Form is strong andeffuses majestic light. This beautiful dual manifested itself to captivate the hearts of deserving Jeeva. "Oh! Mind you keep on watching this dual. Always behold them with ever watchful eyes". Thus Spiritual Masters (Acharyas) advise the mind. Radhaji's Divine qualities are the reason for the magnificent attraction emanating from Her Divine phenomenon. Sri Krishna cannot live even a moment without watching Her enchanting form and He is thoroughly enticed by Her endless magnificence.Sriji's form is transcendental and it is of Rasa. This form of Rasa is replete with golden luminescence. Her every moment is extremely tender, Her every word transmits Divine Ecstasy. She is versatile Divine Player. She plays eternally with Sri Krishna in myriad ways and He is nourished with Rasa by Her eternally.Sri Radhakrishna is of one life in two bodies. Both of them regard each other as their own. Sri Radha is repository of gracefulness. Assuming ever new forms She roams in Vrindavan. Her play is ever new and ever charming. The smile shining on Her lotus face is majestic and Sri Krishna himself is unable to describe the transcendental supremacy and charm of Radhaji. Discerning the ever newness of Radhaji He says "Sri Radha, millions of fulmoons pale away before the luminescence of your lotus face". The heart is not contented with any amount of meditation day-in day-out on Her luminescence. The magnificence of Radhaji is obviously incomparable. One who compares Her Lotus face to a lightning is not a truth-sayer, for Sriji's Divine Form is beyond comparison. Sri Radha is comparable only with Sri Radha. She is an ocean for Form (Roopa), traits and love. All attributes for Love, penchant for playfulness, ever new resplendent elegance and youthful ease reach their culmination in Sri Radha. She is the source of ever charming melodious musical tunes. Is She a lyric or song? Is She a musician or the instrument? A Veena (musical instrument) or the notes of Veena. No one can ever answer. She is immanent in all musical notes and tunes in their subtle nuances. She Herself is primal sound (Nada). She only consummates the Ras Leela (Supreme Divine Play) initiated by Krishna. She is the source of Divine virtues latent in the universes. She initiates, sustains and ends the creation of universes. Lord Krishna anxiously waits for Her gracious glances. He adorefully immerses in decorating Her Divine Form in many a pleasant methods and He carries on His 'play' according to Her will.

  • RASIKACHARYA SRIHITAHARIVAMSAJI

THE MAGNIFICENT LEELA OF MAHABHAVA SWAROOPINI SRI RADHA

In the spiritual sky of Vrindavan many an effulgent stars have emerged. Each one of them replete with sacrifice and divine love has established their pillars of spiritual fame. To realize their ishta (Deity of worship) some embraced vairagya (stoicism) forsaking all mundane attachments. Many such devotees adopted Vaishnava order. Is it a sudden coincidence to have such luminaries of Sacrifice and Love at the same time in Vrindavan? Not at all. The Supreme Lord's will which is the expression of His mercy upon hapless Jeevas (beings) is shining behind this unparalleled event. To expand and disseminate the radiant path of Vraj Rasa(ecstasy of Vraj ) for the redemption of the fallen Jeeva thereby to immerse him in the ecstasies of Rasa(Supreme Ecstatic features of Divine) and ultimately to establish the worship of Rasa or Radha through the example of such devotional luminaries, is the principleaim of the Lord.

In a unique work VRAJ KI RASOPASANA written by Sri Avadh Bihari Lalji it is mentioned "vraj ki upasana ras ki upasana hai. Is ka kamya bhagawan nahi, bhagawan ka prem hai. Prem pancham purusharth hai". ( The worship (upasana) of Vraj is of Rasa. Its goal is not the Lord but His Love. Love is the fifth and the supreme objective (purushartha).

The Rasopasana (worship of Rasa) cannot be attained with mere wearing of robes of vairagya (stoicism). Outer appearance need not match with inner state. If vairagya is awakened within heart, one need not appear in an outfit of a sanyasi( sage). The feeling of sacrifice should arise from heart. Showiness should be absent. Even a householder having these qualities of a Sage within heart can tread along the path of Rasopasana. There is no doubt at all. Through the life of Sri Hita Harivamsaji Brindavaneswari Sri Radhaji proved this fact to one and all beyond any doubt.

  • In the history of religions only Sri Radhaji is shining with Mahabhava Swaroop (unique transcendental magnificence). All Her Divine Plays are extra ordinary and unparalleled. One such Divine Play of Sriji originally written in Vraj is translated here.

Once in Sri Nikunja( abode of Radha Krishna ) Radha and Krishna are engaged in a pleasant conversation. Sage Narada with the grace of Radhasakhi entered the Nikunja and prostrated before Radhaji. Looking at him Sriji asked "My dear, I want to listen about the happenings on the Earth".

My dear, I want to listen about the happenings on the Earth.

Naradji: Amma, Worship and meditation of the Lord are becoming rare things among the beings of the Earth. When you both have descended, great ecstasies flooded there. Now, even in your Vraj there is no trace of sacred atmosphere of Divine Love, Amma.

Sri Krishna: This is Kali Yuga. Falsehood and deception are but natural.

Naradji: Oh Lord! You have incarnated many times to eliminate one demon. But now many demons at once creating disturbance and making the life of residents of Vraj ( vraj vasis) miserable.

Sri Krishna: Maharshi, each Yuga has its own Dharma (order). What have you told is very natural in Kali yuga.

Radhaji: The Vraj Vasis are my life. I cannot listen their miserable state. Alas! What a grave situation they are facing. (becomes unconscious while tears streaming out from Her eyes)

Sri Krishna: Very tender is the feeling of Radhaji towards Vraj vasis.

Sri Radhaji: Dear, I cannot bear the sorry state of my Vraj Vasis.

Sri Krishna: Sri Devi, I am ready to obey your order.

Radhaji: My dear, can't I give peace and happiness to them with the ecstasies of our Nikunja? I cannot remain indifferent any longer.

Krishna: If you wish, I am ready to descend to the Earth once again and it doesn't take much time to eliminate these demons with Sudarsana (wheel shaped weapon of the Lord)

Radhaji: Dear, you would only kill the outer bodies of the demons. But I don't want that. The demonic tendency of the demons should be eliminated and the light of devotional love should shine in their hearts. This is my wish. Who else can accomplish this task except our Vamsi (the Flute).

  • Krishna: Alright. (He gave the Vamsi to Radhaji. While parting with his dearestVamsi He felt very painful).

Radhaji: My dear, did you forget that Vamsi is dearer one to me as it is for you. Saying so, she took the Vamsi-Her dearest Sakhi, into Her hands. Then Vamsi disappeared and in its place a small girl appeared and with a heavy heart she fell on the feet of Radhaji and wept with deep feeling of separation.

Till then the Vamsi has been singing melodiously, drinking the divine nectar emanated from Radha and Krishna and thus pleasing them immensely. Vamsi is the inner confidential Sakhi (companion) of Radhaji. She is Hita Sakhi in the Yugal Leela (pastime of Radha and Krishna) andis aware of the confidential secrecies of the plays of Radha Krishna. For all the pastimes of the Yugal (Radha Krishna) she is the sure witness.

Hita Sakhi: Priyaji Radhe!, I can't bear your separation even for a moment. But atyour behest I will go to the Earth. He Radhe, there also I should have your blissful presence.

Radhaji: Sakhi, I don't part with you even for a moment. I always remain in your heart and become your life. There on the earth you should distribute my Nikunja Rasa (transcendental ecstasies of abode of Radhaji) among my hapless Rasic devotees facing the ordeals of Kali Yuga.

Hita Sakhi: If so, I will happily leave for the Earth Amma. If you remain with me even the Hell will immerse in Rasa. "Oh! The embodiment of extreme mercy, I surrender unto your Lotus Feet." Saying so, Hita Sakhi left for the Earth assuming male-form.

    SRI HITAHARIVAMSAMAHAPRABHU'S ARRIVAL

  • THE INCARNATION OF DIVINE FLUTE, SUPREME RASIC DEVOTEE

Childhood Pastimes: That was 4 'O' Clock in the early hours. Tara Rani (Mother of Harivamsa)was undergoing labour to deliver her baby. Her husband Sri Vyasa Mishra was a Gouda Brahmin. He was a renowned astrologer and they belonged to a village by name Devavan in the Shaharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The local king admired his knowledge of astrologyand awarded him a superior chair in his court. The king always wanted Mishraji to accompany him whenever he went outside the country. On that occasion also Mishraji was accompanying the King who was proceeding to Agra. But Mishraji had to stop at a village by name' Baad' near Agra due to labour pains of his pregnant wife. It was suddha ekadasi of Vaisakha (11th day after new moon of month Vaisakha i.e.April/May of 1502 A.D.) Thousandsof people after taking bath in the Holy river Yamuna were reciting the holy names of Lord Sri Krishna. Mishraji to his amazement saw sudden changes in the environment. Dazzling light replaced darkness of early hours. Melodious play of instruments was heard a few moments later. In such auspicious moments delighted servant maids informed Mishraji that he was blessed with a charming son.

Sometime later Vyasji left for his sister's house. The residents of Vraj beholding the baby spontaneously sang songs in joy and delight. The boy's maternal uncle Nrisimhalal was an ardent devotee of Lord Narasimha. At about the time of boy's birth his uncle was immersed in meditation watching the transcendental form of his beloved Lord. To his astonishment he saw a small boy replacing the form of his beloved Deity. Immediately he prayed Swami, "My Lord, I always behold your Holy Form in meditation. But today I saw a small boy in your place. Who is this boy my Lord". Moments later Lord himself appeared there and said "This baby is the son of your sister Tara Rani. The Vamsi (the Flute) of Sri Krishna assumed the form of this boy and incarnated in your family. I cannot explain the great fortune of your sister". And the Lord disappeared.

A few days hence Nrisimhalalji visited his sister's home at Devavan. Beholding the boy he said, "Tara, your boy's name is already decided. Lord himself told he is none other than the incarnation of Vamsi of Sri Krishna. In the boy's life super natural events will be seen occasionally. He will be great intellectual too". Later he named the boy as 'Harivamsa'.

    Ha- Hari (Lord's Name)

    R- Radha

    Va-Vrindavan

Sa- Sakhi (companion of Sri Radhaji)

Thus he explained the significance of the name given to the boy to Vyasji and Tararani. He further said, "This boy will become so great and extraordinary saint that he would transform Vrajadham into Rasadham. All the above four glorious kalas (transcendental magnificence) of Radhakrishna together assumed the form of the boy"

Once day Nrisimhalalji was swinging the cradle of the boy and his mother Tararani was in the kitchen. To his amazement Nrisimhalalji experienced a supernatural play. He started hearing melodious voice of angels, coming out of the cradle. "Where the Vamsi of Radhaji lives such divine happenings are very natural". Nrisimhalalji thought. Then the Divine voice began to sing a verse:

  • Yasyaha kadapivasananchala

    khelanothadhanyati dhanya

    pavanena kritardhamanee

    Yogeendra durgamagatirmadhusudanopi

    TasyahanamostuVrishabhanubhuvo

    disopi----

Feeling the touch of gentle breeze emanating from whose chelanchal(garment covering shoulders) Sri Madhusudan - invisible Divine

personality even to Yogis of Higher Order, regards Himself extremelyblessed. I salute in reverence to the direction of the daughter of King

    Vrishabhanu.

    -

Every day he used to hear one sloka from the cradle. Nrisimhalalji could not perceive the origin of the sweet voice that was singing the Sloka (verse) in the beginning. Gradually by the grace of Radhakrishna he could comprehend the divine intention. He announced that within these verses the ocean of love of Priya Priyatham (Radha and Krishna) is manifested. Pure and resplendent intensity of Divine Ecstasy and magnificent expression of Bhava were flowing naturally within these extra-ordinary verses. Creation of such majestic verses of Rasa is possible only to masters of Rasa blessed with the Grace of Radhaji, not to ordinary devotees or to poets of excellence.

Devotees who are not attached to Rasa cannot receive the grace of Radhaji. Because of absence of such devotees in the congregation of saints listening to Srimad Bhagawat Pravachan (narration) of Sri Suka Deva, we do not find the mention of either Radhaji or Her companions(Sakhis) in the scripture.

Harivamsaji's life shows us that he possessed absolute grace of Radhaji. Some of the events took place in his life were so extra-ordinary that such events had never visible in the life of any saint in the religious history of the world. This fact is known only to those who had thoroughly studied his life or to the devotees who are filled with Radha Bhav.

Thereafter in an inexplicable manner 271 sloka emerged one per each day. These verses (Sanskrit) compiled as a magnificent treatise on devotion of Rasa (Rasika Bhakthi) known as 'Sri Radhasudhanidhi'. Within a short time Sri Yugal Kishore Seva Samstha (founded by the author of this book) will publish these verses along with detailed purport and comment. (This book was released in two volumes during the year 2008 in Telugu Language).

  • Amazed Yogi Nrisimhalalji asked his personal God Lord Narasimha "How such sweet divine verses are flowing from the house of boy Harivamsa?" Swami replied, "My son, I have already told you. Do not forget that many such majestic events would be seen in the boy's life. He is dearest companion of Radhaji and is none other than the incarnation of Divine Flute-Vamsi. Even Lord Shiva or Vishnu cannot comprehend the supreme powers of Radhaji. Now, my son I will reveal a secret to you. My Deity of worship is Sri Radhaji. So you too do not leave Her meditation under any circumstance". Narasimhalal forthwith said, "My Lord, you are my fovourite Deity ( ishta devata). How can I worship Radhaji ignoring your Lotus Feet? Swamy said, "My son, for a devotee 'my worship' is the initial step in the path of Nivritti (redemption). I show the path of salvation (Moksha) to such devotee. But by the meditation of Radhaji he will attain Radha Bhav and becomes eligible to enter the Divine Play of Radhaji (i.e Raas Leela)" Thus Lord Narasimha enlightened His disciple about the Final Step in the path of Nivritti.

One night boy Harivamsa suddenly woke up and started weeping as he got very hungry. That was exact mid night. He wanted his mother the holy water (charanamruta) of Radhaji. Then Vyasji said "my dear, how to get holy water at this hour. Syamasyam are sleeping. We should not disturb them". The boy forthwith replied, "they are playing now, not sleeping'. Then Vyasji went into the worship-room and astonished to see the paraphernalia of worship were strewn all around. "To day we did not remember to offer Bhog (food) to Swami, nor did we offer even drinking water. Possibly due to this reason the boy had woken up at this hour and started weeping". Vyasaji thought with amazement.

The eternal play (Nitya Leela) of Radha Govind is not visible even to Vaikuntha ( Abode Srimannarayana). Only Rasik Devotees see such confidential Divine Plays. At that very time new dishes of Bhog appeared in the worship-room surprisingly. Among them a few do not belong to earthly plane. Mahabhava swaroopini (embodiment of highest divine consciousness) Sri Radhaji's plays are not comprehensible to ordinary beings.

One day evening five year old Harivamsa was playing with his friends in the garden. Suddenly the boy had an inner impulse that inside the nearby well an idol of Syamasundar was emplaced underneath. Next moment the the boy jumped into the well. Hearing the criesof children, parents of Harivamsa came to the well weeping. Everyone believed that the boy will safely come out of the well. Meanwhile firmly holding the idol of Gopla Deva Harivamsa gently emerged out of the waters of the well sitting in a Yogic posture. Many people witnessed the event. Delighted children danced in joy on his safe arrival. Harivamsa named the idol that had majestically come out of the well as 'Navrangee lal'. The charming idol of Gopala can be seen even today in the village 'Baad". By that time it was clear to one and all that whatever beheld by Harivamsa has been the direct truth but not an illusion.

One day evening in the spring season Harivamsa's parents intended to celebrate Jhoola (theswing) festival in their house. Vyasaji told the boy, "Hari, you gently move the swing of Laadili Lal (Radha and Krishna) back and forth. I will come back after Bhog is prepared." Vyasaji left the house. A few minutes later Tara Rani heard a melodious tone of small girl. Curious mother hurriedly came out of the kitchen to the Jhoola. She found only Harivamsa was moving the swing backward and forward but not a girl. Many times the boy appeared asa girl and while appearing as a girl tends to return to boy's form. As predicted by Lord Narasimha events that were contrary to natural phenomenon had been taking place. This is one of the many transcendental events in his life. People of the village soon realized that theboy's life was supernatural and he was a great divine incarnation descended to the earth on a spiritual mission. The followers of Radha Vallabha tradition believe that he was an incarnation of the Flute ( Vamsi ) of Radhaji. His name itself indicates this fact and none otherthan Lord Narasimha revealed his arrival.

That was about 4 'O' Clock in the early morning. Harivamsa was sleeping. The sacred name Sri

  • Hari is recited all around. Harivamsa felt as if Radhaji was waking him up. He was 11 years old by then. He hurriedly got up and said, "Amma, you have come! What a great fortune I had? He prostrated before Her. Looking at the boy affectionately Radhaji said, " I came to bless you withmy mantra." Amazed Harivamsa replied, "Your endless mercy is my life and I don't live a moment without your presence, then why do I need you mantra Amma. When the presiding Deity of the mantra (Sri Radhaji) is shining within me what is your intention in giving me the mantra, Amma?" Sriji smiled and said replete with love, "Sakhi, it is true that you always reside in my Sri Nikunja. But don't you know that the mantra is not for you elevation. Did you forget the purpose behind your arrival to this world? You are my beloved Sakhi (companion). You are the embodiment of well-being of this world. Having absolute faith in you I did send you to the Earth. So far Divine incarnations only eliminated the wicked persons and demons to re establish Dharma ( Spiritual order). By mere killing of wicked real good did never come forth. The wickedness should be eliminated without touching the demon. Only then real well being of the world will be unfolded. Sakhi! You are not Sudarsana, but a most enchanting endless dispenser of Rasa to the Jeevas. You are the manifestation of our Vamsi. To realize such well being of the world powers of usual incarnations will not be sufficient. You task will be to reform and elevate the hapless, feeble beings without even touching them, to higher worlds.

Amma, you have come! What a great fortune I had?

He prostrated before Her. Looking at the boy affectionately Radhaji said

I came to bless you with my mantra.

    Amazed Harivamsa replied,

Your endless mercy is my life and I don't live a moment without your presence, then why do I need you mantra Amma. When the presiding Deity of the mantra (Sri Radhaji) is shining within me what is your intention in giving me the mantra, Amma?

Sriji smiled and said replete with love,

Sakhi, it is true that you always reside in my Sri Nikunja.

Now I offer you the Hldadini Shakthi (unique power of Radhaji) embodied in the form of Mantra. My swaroop (form) is Hladini Shakthi. You are my amsa (part). You are my beloved Vamsi.

Oh Mother! You are the protector and controller of all universes. To bless the Holy mantra why do personally come to me Amma. Any of your representatives

  • would have come.

    Harivamsa asked.

Priya Sakhi!(beloved companion) You have this doubt. Sakhi, you always drink the ecstasies offered by my Priyatham (Krishna). Who else will give you mantra than me? I am not only your Sakhi, but one and only Sadguru (Spiritual guide or Master) of all the universes. More over me is the Goddess of worship of Sri Krishna. Haven't you perused this in the Veda?

Oh! Divine Mother, by the power of your Mantra and with your benign grace ordinary being like me is blessed with power to dispense prema rasa (Divine ecstasies) to the beings of this world which is beyond reach of even Gods like Brahmaji. Sri Radhe, kindly enlighten me the path of dispensation of Rasa and forgive this innocent Sakhi questioning you this way.

    prayed Hita Harivamsaji.

Priya Sakhi! Did you forget your transcendental form? You are the voice of Priyatam Rasikasekhar (Sri Krishna). Your voice enchanted countless cows, cowherd boys and girls. Don't forget that Rasikasekhar's voice is your own. In the realm of Venu (the Flute) there is no place for arguments. As venu swaroop (the Flute) you are dispensing the ecstasies by continuously chanting Radhe..Radhe.. Listening to your majestic voice wild animals danced in joy. Forests blossomed. Even the river Yamuna forgot to move towards the sea and turned backwards to dispense 'Rasa' to the beings of this world.

Rejoiced by the sweet instruction of Radhaji Hita Harivamsaji extolled Radhaji,

Hey! Swamini, how beautiful is your instruction. The spiritual steps revealed by you are incomparable and majestic. What a great fortune I had today? Each step is better than the other.

  • PREACHINGS OF HARIVAMSAJISteps for the evolution of jeeva into a rasik bhaktha (devotee of rasa)1. Receiving the Mahamantra is the first step in the path of Nivritti. The Manthra is indeed the form of Radhaji. It consists of Hladini Shakthi. As soon as the Mahamanthra is received by the Sadhaka the layers of avidya (ignorance) that enveloped the mind gets removed and the jeevatva (tendency of the Jeeva) starts diminishing.2. Such Sadhaka shall reside in Brindavan which is filled with the dust particles of the Lotus Feet ofroaming Radhakrishna. There he shall meditate the Yugal (the dual) Sri Radhakrishna with undivided steadfast devotion. At this step the Sadhaka will reach a transcendental state wherein he feels the presence of the Lord in every object. Yatra yatra mano yati tatra tatra Madhava. Wherever the mind treads there appears Madhava (Sri Krishna)3. The Holy bath in the Yamuna which is a beloved act to the Rasik devotee is the Third Step. WhenVasudeva was crossing the Yamuna with child Krishna over the head, Yamunaji felt painful for the Lord not allowed Her to touch His Lotus Feet. Later when the child gave his feet and caressed the raising waters of the Yamuna, She felt extremely happy. "Do you have any complaint now"? A voicewas heard outside. Adi Sankaracharya wrote in his Yamunashtaka (eight verses) that the mind will get cleansed from the accumulated sins of past births by taking bath in such a sacred river.4. The company of Devotees of Rasa s the Fourth step. Such fellowship surely kindles the feeling ofdetachment and dissolves fascination for outer pleasures. Besides it also bestows deep yearning for Radhaji's presence.5. The Ultimate step is the experience of Raas Leela. This is the pinnacle of Spiritual elevation. Even one among crores of beings could hardly attain such good fortune of participating in the Raas of Radhaji as Her eternal companion (Sakhi).

    WORLDLY LIVING ANDRASOPASANA

Is the worldly living a hindrance to rasopasana?

The very elements of worldly living can be used as outstanding instruments for serving the Divine. The path of such living is instructed by Sri Radhaji to Harivamsa.

Harivamsa's parents intended to marry their son and arrangements were commenced. But he was immersed in boundless grief.

Every moment I live in the presence of Radhaji. How can I enter into marriage bond?

  • Thinking in this way Harivamsa fell on the feet of Sriji in the worship-room.

Those immersed in the love of the Divine behold the matters of material world as beautiful instruments of Divine Service. Moulding the mundane matters into instruments of Divine Service is real Yoga.

Harivamsa wept for long at the feet of Radhaji and prayed for Her instruction. Sriji said,

A Jeeva associated with Rasopasana is compared to a lotus flower floating in pond even though he is leading a married life. The petals are his mind and it always floats on the water. But in his heart floats the drop of Rasa. Hita Sakhi!, as long as you have the knowledge your real state no force of illusion (Maya) that filled in all three universes can ever touch you.

Some time later Harivamsaji got married to Annapurna Devi.
