SnapChat • Snapchat has provided a new way for young people to
connect, far exceeding the likes of Facebook for in-
the-moment photo sharing.

The Snapchat Geofilter
Snapchat has found a new platform for
content marketing and brand engagement. In February, Snapchat changed the game by adding the option for anyone to create a filter. Dubbed the ‘geofilter,’ this new tool allows users to design their own themes around their own events.
As the name suggests, geofilters are restricted for use in a limited geography, often by city or regional district. Geofilter-able events include office parties, birthdays, and weddings.

In just a couple of months, the geofilter service has seen massive success, with businesses shelling out more than $1,000 per event to make their geofilters available to event attendees. Major events you’re using geofilter for content marketing include SXSW and Coachella. For a greater sense of the power of brand promotion
through Snapchat, social media business strategist Bryan Kramer gave
a TED Talk highlighting what makes it such a great resource.
• Web design extends beyond your site, so giving your business a
greater online presence requires creativity and crowdsourcing.
• Since geofilters more or less put promotion directly in the hands of
your partygoers, they are the ultimate tool for crowdsourced
marketing.
• Even if Snaps can only be seen for a single day, the outreach impact
they can have is immediately noticeable.

Business analysts have called a widespread increase in recognition thanks to quick image sharing the Snapchat Effect. Especially with events, people get an unedited, vicarious view of what’s going on in the person’s life. That is to say, Snapchat addicts can feel like they’re at a party when they’re not really there- and even more so when user engagement is involved.
With over 100 million daily active users, the value of putting picture-taking in the people’s hands shouldn’t be underestimated, especially if your audience is in the 13-25 age range. As simple as it is, the geofilter can make a massive difference on how social-savvy customers perceive your content marketing.
