Purpose of the job
The Senior Manager will support the Financial Risk Director in managing financial risk activities across the British Business Bank (BBB). This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of venture capital investments and this individual will be responsible for managing the relevant portfolio risk.
BBB delivers its programmes through delivery partners, which are financial institutions, and which in turn provide funding to SMEs.
Main duties Coordinate day-to-day interactions between Risk & Compliance and the venture capital product team Undertake risk analysis of investment proposals and support the due diligence on Delivery Partners Help develop and maintain the reporting of credit & investment risks Carry out periodic portfolio reviews and undertake risk analysis on significant portfolio movements Support the Risk and Compliance team’s input into the design of new products Engage appropriately with external parties, such as delivery partners and industry bodies.
Knowledge and experience
Strong credit/investment assessment, portfolio management/monitoring and risk reporting skills A good understanding of venture capital products and markets or debt and private equity Experience within a Risk function of a financial services company with exposure to private equity/venture
capital Managing relationships with product/front office teams
Internal and external stakeholders
Internal stakeholders will predominantly be the product areas and the Investment/Risk Committees. Role holder will also be expected to liaise with other functions including Finance, Legal and Strategy
External stakeholders – shareholder, delivery partners, relevant professional agencies

QualificationsRequired for the role
Degree qualified or equivalent (ideally 2:1 or above / 3.2 GPA or above) in a relevant discipline
Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Additional / desirable
Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. FRM, CFA, CISI Diploma, CAIA, IMC, ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
Bloomberg, Microsoft PowerPivot, VBA
