The 2008 BCIS Autumn meeting will be held on Friday 26th September in Crewe Hall, Crewe, Cheshire

As during previous years, the meeting will focus on clinical aspects of interventional cardiology, and an interesting programme of presentations, case reviews and debates, with ample time for discussion, has been compiled by our North Staffs. hosts for the education and entertainment of their BCIS colleagues. As always, early registration is advised.

You are also invited to the drinks reception and dinner, which takes place on the evening of Thursday 25th September. Registration for drinks reception and dinner, as well as for the conference, must be made in advance, using the enclosed registration form.

Attendance at the 2008 BCIS Autumn Meeting is free of charge to all BCIS members. However a nominal charge is made towards the Thursday evening social event, for those who wish to attend. A BCIS membership application form is attached for anyone wishing to attend the Autumn Meeting, but who is not yet a member. Please note that the deadline for membership application, to qualify for attendance at the 2008 Autumn meeting, is 15th August, 2008.

Delegate accommodation has been arranged at the Crewe Hall and other neighbouring hotels. Please send the attached accommodation registration form directly to the hotel of your choice.

Location: Crewe Hall is easily reached air, rail and road. Parking: On site parking is available for all conference delegates Road: From the Junction 16 of M6Leave the M6 at Junction 16 and take the A500 towards Crewe. At the first roundabout take the last exit (A5020) sign posted Crewe. At the next roundabout take the first exit. The entrance to Crewe Hall will be found a few hundred yards along on the right hand side.

Air: Crewe Hall is 29 miles from ManchesterRail: Crewe Station - 1 mile Stoke-on-Trent Station – 19 miles (approx 30 minutes by car)Crewe Hall started life as a modestly sized Jacobean house in 1636, and records show that there were occupants on the Crewe Hall site as far back as Norman times.   It became an hotel at the turn of the century and now offers a splendid mix of the traditional and

contemporary.  The meeting will be held in the new Conference Centre, and the dinner in the Long Gallery, in the main hotel building.CREWE HALL LOCATION MAPThe new dedicated and state of the art Events/Conference suite at Crewe Hall opened in the grounds in April 2008.The Hall itself is a Grade I listed building featuring richly designed ceilings, exquisite marble fireplaces, ornate carved wood and stained glass decoration. The magnificent public areas and banqueting rooms exude the best mid – Victorian luxury. The hall even has its own Chapel, again featuring magnificent opulence of the age.

Crewe Hall currently provides 117 guest rooms of which 26 bedrooms are located in the historic manor. The Autumn meeting has been able to reserve 75 of these rooms, and we would encourage those delegates who are keen to stay on site to book as soon as possible.Residential Facilities

Subject to availability, the hotels have also offered this rate into the weekend for those delegates wishing to extend their stay. Please enquire at the time of initial booking. Don't miss the pretty village of Audlem where you can see the Shropshire Union Canal descend into the Cheshire plain over a picturesque two mile stretch of 15 locks, providing an ideal resting place for walkers, cyclists and narrow boat cruisers alike. The Llangollen canal at Wrenbury also makes a delightful visit and The River Weaver can be enjoyed throughout The Upper Weaver Valley including key sites at Nantwich and Audlem. These are large retail markets with wide ranging bric-a-brac, clothing, fresh Cheshire produce and much more! Browsing welcome; best bargains in town!

Lyceum Theatre, Heath Street, Crewe A wonderful historic building, built in 1911 and steeped in history. During 1994 this Grade II listed building was substantially refurbished and today provides a wonderful venue for an action packed theatre programme, with the original Edwardian interior. Contact the Lyceum Theatre for a copy of the current programme, which includes drama, ballet, opera, the concerts, music, comedy and the annual pantomime - something for all tastes and ages - there's so much to choose from and even the ghosts are friendly!! The Harlequins Restaurant is open Monday – Saturday. To find out more about the history of the Lyceum Theatre, you can join a Theatre Tours held on selected Saturdays throughout the year. The Body Cartography project, in partnership with Cheshire Dance will explore the potential of Crewe Railway Station as a medium to make art. Through sensorial investigation, imagery, action, humour, music and sound this 5 day performance event will reveal the intricacies and the concrete physical characteristics of one of the most historic railway stations in the world through the eyes of locals and visitors.
