The Avon Tyres/TTC Group MSA British Hillclimb Championship returns to the mainland for the rest of the season after a hectic July spent travelling between the Channel Islands, Devon and Belfast.

A healthy entry of BHC drivers travelled across the English Channel to contest the winding Bouley Bay and the fast flowing Val des Terres hillclimbs. Wallace Menzies took his first hill record at Bouley Bay followed by a series of wins at Wiscombe, Craigantlet and Shelsley Walsh. Scott Moran and Jos Goodyear also set records at Val de Terres, Scott repeating the feat at Craigantlet whilst Jos showed good form at Wiscombe.

Trevor Willis ran inside the hill record on both climbs at Bouley Bay but had to concede the championship lead to Scott at Shelsley. Alex Summers and Paul Haimes are strengthening their claim on a number with stunning performances at Shels-ley and Wiscombe respectively.

The Avon Tyres/TTC Group MSA Hillclimb Leaders Championship misses out on the overseas rounds, and is a 3 way bat-tle between Simon Fidoe (Empire 1100), Alex Summers (DJ Firehawk 1340S) and Scott Moran (Gould GR61X 3500), all 3 have broken class records during the season.

2014 Calendar

BARC Yorkshire Centre has decided it cannot compete with the Tour de France next year. About 3 million spectators are expected to watch this prestigious event, inevitably leading to traffic problems and fully booked accommodation in the region. The Harewood round of the BHC will take place on Sunday 6th July only, to minimise the effect of the Tour as it passes through Harewood village on Satur-day. However if you are keen to watch the worlds top cycling event, come to Harewood for the weekend and walk (or cycle?) the short distance to the village to watch and join us for a BBQ on Saturday evening.

Guernsey MC & CC celebrated 40 years of hillclimbing at Val des Terres with a well run event, contested by 30 registered contenders

culminating in the hill record being broken twice and the run off nearly going to local driver Darren Warwick. The organising club end-

ed the day in style with a barbeque at the picturesque, but unfortunately windswept, Beaucette Marina.

Anniversary Celebrations

Ulster AC also know how to throw a party, arrang-

ing a pre event reception at Stormont. About 150

guests were treated to drinks and nibbles in the

Great Hall followed by a guided tour of the seat of

the Northern Ireland government. The hillclimb

continued the celebrations, with a parade of sig-

nificant cars including the Ferguson P99 driven by

Stuart Rolt, preceding a tight contest for BHC

points with a record 16 contenders.
