As a designer, I am eager to create spaces that successfully communicate innovative concepts, transforming the definition of space. I am zealous about taking design to the next level and am willing to explore my creativity to its fullest potential.

As the world changes and sustainable practices become part of the design concept, I am ready to work for a firm that believes in this concept as well. In my eyes, building responsibly will benefit everyone. Sustainable design is an essential part of our future.

I aspire to work for an established firm where my ideas can help influence the future of design. I am ready to absorb all of the knowledge I can and to play an important role in a design team. I am prepared to make the mundane exquisite.

schematics:Project Name: New Wave Graphics and The ShelfClient: Student Project, IndividualProject Type: Office and RetailProject Location: Athens, GADate Completed: December 2009Project Objectives: To take field measurements of the exsisting structure.

To learn and implement the programming and schematic design phases.

To research office and retail design and understand standards and codes pertaining to these fields of design.

To develop a functional design and produce construction and presentation drawings that show the intent of the design.

concept:The design concept behind New Wave Graphics was to incorporate a mixture of modern ele-ments with the original brick and truss structure that was built in the late 1940’s. I wanted the atmosphere to feel clean and motivating so the employee’s gain the most from the spaces they will be working and creating in. I wanted to transform the “traditional” idea of a workplace with the use of special arrangement/use and materials.

Page 15: Brittni Tibbits Design Portfolio

concept: The design concept behind The Shelf, a Chil-dren’s Book Store was inspired by the idea of having a floor to ceiling bookshelf leading up a flight of stairs to a small lofted space for children to truly experience the power of read-ing. Because Athens lacks a location for chil-dren to read and be tutored outside of school, I wanted the design of this store to inspire children and keep them coming back.

concept:The Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity house located on the edge of The University of Georgia’s campus was of Antebellum architecture, dating back to the mid 1990’s. The university bought the property inorder to expand the campus which in turn rendered the structure useless and tore it down. This site is ideal for the Freedman and Sinowski, PC law firm sim-ply because it is adjacent to the law school and law library on UGA’s campus. This firm will practice criminal law with a concentration on DUI and alco-hol related offenses. Before demolition, field mea-surements were taken of the exsisting structure. The goal of this project was to transform the exsist-ing structure into a modern law firm. The exterior will remain traditional in respect to the surrounding buildings on north campus, but the interior will have a modern and artistic feel that reflects the town of Athens.

Site Plan

concept:The intent and goal behind this proposed recovery center is to create a fa-cility firmly dedicated to war veterans returning to the United States who suf-fer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The main purpose of this facility is to be a part of a growing effort to increase success rates of treating this dis-order among the brave men and women who have risked their lives fighting for our country. This disorder is a “war wound” that can affect the rest of their lives negatively if not treated correctly. The recovery center will help change the daily lives of each patient that attends treatment, as well as, reflect the mission of the center to provide help and care to these veterans; a remind-er that they were never forgotten. The hopes are to inspire other veterans in need to engage in treatment so this “war wound” can one day be alleviated.

HK SPA HOTEL

Page 44: Brittni Tibbits Design Portfolio

concept:The best way to truly convey the luxury associated with 5-star hotels is to incorporate elements which allow all five senses to become a part of the experience. An experience of an extravagant nature, ac-complished by a design that has evolved into a harmonious whole, evidenced by a unity displayed throughout the hotel. Our design will draw from the rich history of Chinese culture, using elements both decorative and architectural to mold the space and echo the vibrant nature of China’s past and present. We plan to achieve these goals by designing architectural elements that engage the senses, visually pulling visitors throughout the space while seemingly asking them to pause and feel the textures around them, creating a memorable expe-rience for every guest space by space. The complexity and intrigue of China’s history will be displayed through layering: spaces, color, ma-terials, and experiences felt as you move through Harbour View Spa Hotel. Overall, Harbour View Spa Hotel will exemplify a design which will be both comfortable and exciting by using vibrant and sensory architectural elements, fully grounded in functional space planning.

schematics:Project Name: HK Spa HotelClient: Student Project, GroupProject Type: HospitalityProject Location: Hong Kong, ChinaDate Completed: December 2010Project Objectives: To introduce theory of hotel and spa design.

To test new design methods for space planning and interior design.

To articulate a variety of design options for a given problem.

To develop the ability to select appropriate furniture, colors, materials, tex-tures, and patterns in the application of finishes and furnishings for hotel spaces.
