My transition to Managing Director has been a very busy but rewarding experience. This is a great new opportunity and I am proud to have been chosen to lead an organisation that has been built on a legacy of trust, strength and ambition, set by Founder and former Managing Director, Kari Rummukainen. I would like to thank all those that have shown their support in my new role.

The Broad team have wrapped up some exceptional projects such as our new Perth Head Office development known as WorkZone, on the fringe of Perth’s CBD, Terminal 1 Forecourt Roads civil works at Perth International Airport, Stirling Road Underpass in

Dean Goodliffe

Managing Director

Claremont, Perth, Riverside Waterbank in East Perth, Palm Island Residential Subdivision in Queensland and Metronode Data Centre in Silverwater and Unanderra, New South Wales. These projects are featured in this magazine and demonstrate Broad’s diverse range of capabilities and high quality standards.

I am also pleased to announce that Broad has been successful in a number of projects across the country including the development of Kings Square 4 and a Metronode Data Centre in Western Australia, and a new college in New South Wales.

The Broad team are proud to have delivered our new West Australian premises located at 202 Pier Street, Perth. This is an exciting time for the Broad team who joined Leighton Contractors, Ngarda and Visionstream in the one building on 23 September 2013. This edition includes a sneak peak of our new office as well as our new address and contact details.

I am pleased to announce that Broad was presented with a 2013 West Australian Master Builders - Bankwest Excellence in Construction Award - Best Industrial Building for the Parts Distribution Centre project at the Crown Perth on Saturday, 22 June. Terminal 2 at Perth Airport was also recognised as a finalist in the Best Public Use Building category. Mount Sheridan Plaza Expansion and Refurbishment project was also awarded at the Master Builders Far North Queensland Housing and Construction awards in the Retail Facilities over $5m category. All fantastic achievements.

On 19 June, Broad invited clients, subcontractors and staff to our inaugural Safety Summit. The day was very well received and the feedback provided has been invaluable to help Broad promote, support and

advance our safety objectives. I will be taking a strong lead to ensure that safety is our number one priority across all our business operations.

As I continue my journey at Broad I look forward to forming many new relationships and strengthening current associations with our clients and stakeholders across the Group

Riverside Waterbank, Perth

After the successful completion of Stage One of the Riverside Waterbank project in January 2012, Broad was subsequently awarded Stages two and three of the forward works. The Riverside development is being undertaken to transform the eastern gateway to Perth by creating a cosmopolitan waterfront community and tourist destination with a range of entertainment, commercial, retail, civic and residential uses that take advantage of its unique location.

Stage 1 of the works involved the relocation of an existing 1200 mm diameter stormwater pipe that ran through the proposed development area. Stages two and three of the project saw the importation of some 240,000 ccm of sand fill for use as preloading to consolidate the existing ground ahead of the subsequent development. Additionally, these works included the relocation of existing roads and the construction of new roads to service the new development as well as to maximise the available development area.

All three stages have now reached practical completion

Quality comes from prevention, not detection and is a key ingredient to enhancing the project outcome for our clients.

To reinforce awareness that everybody has a role to play in the delivery of our value Quality for Life and it’s supporting guiding behaviours; BroadQuality Week was held from 19 – 23 August 2013.

Quality is essential in the process and not after the process is completed, therefore the focus for this year was ‘Right First Time’. Maintaining this high level of quality is about improving our processes, strengthening our culture, emphasising individual performance, accountability and recognition.

A dedicated BroadQuality Day was held across our sites and offices nationally during the week to review and understand the importance of recognising and practicing quality.
