Your Life in the Ohio Military Reserve

Duty in the Ohio Military Reserve is not for everyone. As with any volunteer organization, a certain amount of sacrifice is expected. You’ll invest in acquiring your own uniforms and dedicate time to military duty without pay or compensation. We are a true volunteer military force

Your unit knows the importance of a strong commitment of your entire family before joining. Without their support our system grinds to a halt. Your decision to join must be based not only on your sense of duty, but also through the encouragement of those you leave behind to serve the State of Ohio. As a matter of fact being a member of the Ohio Military Reserve is a family. A family that expects all of us to live up to a higher standard and one that expects a little more than the average citizen.

During these training periods you’ll have the opportunity to serve with like minded people who want to give back to the community. You’ll challenge yourself to exceed your own expectations. You’ll study and practice the nuts and bolts of responding to disasters. Learning skills and working as a team to help your fellow Ohioans when things get tough. Training to US Army standards, Federal Emergency Management Agency coursework, local EMA training opportunities and working closely with the Ohio National Guard will develop the strength and experience needed to respond to any crisis. And that’s free training that looks mighty good on a resume.
