So far, Distance education has been interpreted in as very narrow sense that is to

get a degree pr ivate ly or th rough correspondence. But today, The im pl icat ions o f

Distance edu cation, so called, education th rough co rrespondence, has gon e such a

long way that i t has surpassed even the meri ts of regular study, both qual i tat ive as

we l l as quant i t a t ive ly.

Distance Educat ion, Today, has become t he order o f th e day, both f rom t im e po in t o f

v iew and economic po in t o f v iew. The hor izon o f educated people is becoming so

wid ened on ly due to d istance educat ion. Distance educat ion has taught the peop le

EARN WH ILE LEARN THEORY, w hich w as total ly n eglected in t he past. No t on ly th is,

even Distance education has awakened the neglected rural populat ion. Distance

Educat ion has enabled l i terate s to overcom e i ll i terate s. M ore over DistanceEducat ion has provided th e chance to everyone to get educat ion. I t i s qu i te cheap,

t im e saving and qual i ta t ive as com pare to regu lar study.

No do ubt , tod ay, the inst i tu t ions have made i t p ure ly comm ercia l and on ly a source o f earn ing income at the cost o f i ts posi t ive

ef fects and implem entat ion. Distance educat ion is not a t a l l a bad th ing but the need is to und erstand i t and a lso i ts for reach ing

posi t ive e f fects. The need is to redef ine, re in terpret , remodel , rest ructure and reunderstand the t rue meaning o f d istance

educat ion.

The mod el o f d istance educat ion has been adopt ed pure ly to spread educat ion to every corner so that t he a im o f governm ent po l icy

to remove i l li te racy f rom Ind ia , but t o ach ieve th is a im, the s logan of Distance educat ion may n ot b e m isunderstood an m isappl ied.

Distance education enables the people to ut i l ize properly and optimal ly there ut i l ized talent. I t has proved torch bearer a especial ly

for poor s, that even they can a lso get educat ion, desp i te the fact , th ey have m erger sources a t the i r d isposa l. They can reach to the

unreached posi t ions through d istance educat ion which they have never dreamt o f even. Distance educat ion is qu i te he lp fu l to

en l ight en the dark du ngeons of t he people o f rem ot e areas.

Distan ce Educat ion shou ld not b e taken as a casual; rath er i t sho uld be tr eated as a very good source of gett ing education in tho se

areas where th e education faci l it ies are not avai lable. The need is to streamline t he Distan ce education n etw ork . Distance education

should not be taken as a Educat ion Shop bu t i t should be considered as open Educat ion Temple w here everybody is f ree to go and

get educat ion. Anoth er imp or tant po in t is that i t i s less burdensome and cheaper a lso. Distance educat ion qu i te is icon ic, un ique and

valuable in i ts approach and f eature.

M emo randum of Understanding (M oU) betw een the Secretary o f Sta te for Business

Innovat ion and Ski lls and UKAS. The M oU sets out th e

responsib il i t ies o f bo th U KAS and Government in the operat ion o f an e f fect ive accred i ta t ion system. The M oU w as

EXAM INATIONThe stud ents are assessed based on cou rse work and exam ination fo r every pr ogram . IIM T STUDIES funct ions wit h t hemethod that the three hour examination system is old fashioned as i t only puts addit ional stress on students. As soon

as the stud ents are ready to take the exams they are requ i red to app ly in t he inst i tu t ion fo r quest ion papers which are

to be answered wi th the method of open book examinat ion method. The candidates are requ i red to submi t the

answe rs w i th in the prescr ibed t im e l imi t to the inst i tu te thro ugh cour ier /speed post /e-mai l . Th is un ique m ethodology

helps stu dent s in PH. D. Program . I IM T STUDIES has designed th is nov el, liberal , rhet oric education m ethod ology th at

a l low s student s to m ake maximu m benef i ts in w r i t ing answers to secure h igher grades.

Project Study: I t i s mandatory to be the process o f pro ject work / pro ject study i f you are a management

studen t i f I IM T Stud ies. This session has to be taken aft er th e wr i t ten exam ination held by any part icular.

Depending on any o f th e special iza t ion sub ject , the pro ject w ork / study has to b e subm i t ted a f ter t he ent i reresearch of the part icular dept / special izat ion chosen. I t is briefed that the project work can be successful ly

comp leted wi th m ore convenience i f done on you r on employer (curren t or past ) .

Viva: Video or a telecon conversat ion can be the mode in this examination system. Viva is designed as per

em ployers requirem ent. The professional ski l ls are required to pass th is exam. I t is m andato ry to pass ou t viva

exam inat ion to pass the course.

Others

I f the stud ents desi re to appear fo r th ree hour c lass room exam inat ion, they can do so. The exams w i l l be

condu cted at variou s I IM T STUDIES stud y centers. In such case student s wi l l not be al low ed to r efer th e study

m ater ia l in th e exam inat ion center . The students should in t im ate the preference for th is opt ion a t the t im e ofreg ist ra t ion.

Exam Patte rn:

Stu dent s are al low ed to app ear for th e exam inations Stud y Cent re Based Exam (SCBE), Onl ine Based Exam

(OBE) and Project Based Exam (PBE). The Examination process can be started only after getting (Exam Process

Cod e) EPC from th e IIM T - CENTRE.

Com pone nts of OBE - PBE

The fol low ing compo nen ts wi l l com prise the OBE-PBE for each cour se:

Conditions for O BE - PBE

Stud ents shou ld fu l f i l l the fo l low ing condi t ions:

Evaluation

The eva luat ion system o f the p rogramm e is based on fo l lowing component s:

Stud ents have to secure 50% m arks in each sub ject

A to ta l o f three marks are a l lowed as grace marks over two modules spanning a complete academic year .

The student m ay avai l the grace marks over a m aximu m of t hree sub jects or a m in imum of one sub ject .

In o rder to have bet ter cont ro l on th e conduct o f examinat ions and imp rove the qual i ty thereof , i t has beendecided to central ize the exam ination s at Exam ination Hal l as decided by I IM T CDL (appl icable to freshers only)

Re-Exam ination an d Late subm ission Charges

If t he student fa i ls to c lear any o f th e examinat ions or skip th e exam inat ion, it can be covered throu gh re-

examinat ion p rocess easily by pay ing negl igible charges of INR 250 p er subject.

A 65-74%

B 55-64%
