SOFTWARE FEATURESCAN and RS485 Keypad Addresses – Ass ign any va l id CAN (J1939) address to the keypad whi le a lso ass igning the same or a d i fferent RS485 address. Communicate on e i ther BUS s imultaneously.

J1939 Address Claim Transmission – Keypads no longer have to be pre-programmed to a speci f ic address. This enables customers that work in appl icat ions in the f ie ld wi thout access to a GUI to use any replacement keypad on-hand. The keypad can be conf igured to automat ica l ly announce i ts address and accept a new address ass ignment as appropr iate.

Event Status Transmission – The keypad can send messages to the BUS indicat ing a button press or a button re lease event has occurred. This conf i rmat ion a l lows dig i ta l systems to have the same input acknowledgements as that of the latching posi t ion of a mechanica l switch.

Periodic Heartbeat – The keypad sends a cont inuous broadcast of messages to indicate i t is funct ion ing correct ly. The message indicates the press or re lease status of each button at that instance. The f requency of these messages is preset to one message every 100 mi l l iseconds, but can be adjusted as needed.

Add-On Buttons – Up to three Add-On Button ports, each a l lowing for one input and two outputs, are avai lable for d iscre-et switches such as push buttons, rocker switches and toggle switches. The extra contacts send and receive CAN, CANopen and RS485 messages, appear ing on the BUS as though they were addi t ional buttons on the keypad. Each Add-On Button port comes with two output c i rcu i ts which can be used to power indicator lamps or LED’s on the switch.

Application Programming Interface (API) – The Powerkey Pro Development Ki t a l lows access to the source code that contro ls the funct ional log ic of the keypad. An exper ienced programmer can make conf igurat ion changes that would a l low for such th ings as changing the PGN’s and structure of both received and generated messages. Addi t ional funct ional i ty such as automat ica l ly sett ing LED’s based upon a button press can a lso be added.
