Guadalajara is a mexican city, capital of the state of Jalisco, as well as main town in the urban area called Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara. It is located in western Mexico,

in the center of Jalisco, in the geographical area known as Valle de Atemajac.Its territory delimited to the north by the municipalities of Zapopan and ixtlahuacan of the River; to the east with Tonala and the Zapotlanejo-lagos de Moreno stretch; to the south with Tlaquepaque and the poniente and Zapopan. The total population of the city of Guadalajara was 1 494 182 in 2010, being the third most populous city in the country, it was only after Mexico City and Ecatepec de Morelos For its part, the Guadalajara metropolitan area (formed by 8 municipalities of Jalisco) brings together a total of 4 434 252 inhabitants, while the second most populated city of the country, after the Metropolitan Area of Mexico City, and the 9TH largest urban agglomeration in Latin America.Culturally, the city of Guadalajara is considered to be the most emblematic town of Mexico and that has given it its iconographic image in the country. The city also stands out for its rich and varied gastronomy, its colonial architecture, its folklore and religious traditions.. Guadalajara was the headquarters of the Pan American Games in 2011. The cultural movement that is currently living in Guadalajara is one of the strongest in Latin. The city has one of the cultural calendars more vast in the continent, which is compounded by the interest of the government, at the University of Guadalajara and private institutions, to exploit the cultural attributes of the city. A first class train travels to the land of Tequila leav-ing from the Guadalajara train station every Sat-urday morning. It’s a grand touristic adventure,

filled with thrills for the whole family with Mariachi, te-quila and beer on board, as well as expert guides who take the time to explain the route and talk about the Hacienda de San Josel Refugio, where Tequila Herra-dura is manufactured. Once there, guides lead a tour through the museum, showing how past artisans used to make the Tequila, as well as the modern processes to make Tequila. After the tour, a traditional Mexican lunch is sponsored, with live acts displaying traditional dances and songs from the region. The train returns back to Guadalajara during the evening.

Prices are MXN770 for adults; MXN400 for chil-dren under 12; children under 5 years old travel for free.

Casa Bariachi is dedicated to serving the finest meat to be found in the country, as well as a variety of Mexican dishes. La Gran Plaza is a modern shopping center, located in a convenient area between two important avenues of the city. It has three levels where you will find clothing, footwear and other boutiques, in addition to banks, restaurants, a fast food area, and an area for arcade games. It also houses a Cinepolis, which shows films in several theatres, and Hippos, a nice cafe-bar. The place has ample outdoor and underground parking lots.

Teatro Degollado is the most prestigious theatre, the building features a neo-classical portico atop corinthian columns and a marble relief of Apollo and the Nine Muses. Every Sunday at 10am, the Ballet Folklórico de la Universidad de Guadalajara dances here. The capacity of the theater is 1,414 people and admission

varies with the performance and seat location.
