Brief Introduction
Electromagnetic flow meter is a kind of induction type flow instrument
often used to measure, based on Faraday Law, the volume flowrate of
conductive medium in closed pipelines. With microprocessor and exclusive
integrated circuit, KDLD electromagnetic flow meter have the advantages of
reliable performance, high accuracy, easy to use, etc.. The high speed CPU
and advanced signal processing technology ensure a wide measuring range of
0.01m/s to 12m/s. The infrared remote control realize man-machine
conversation, two-line LCD makes the readings and parameter setting more
comprehensive and convenient.
KDLD electromagnetic flow meter can be widely applied in industries like
chemical, power supply, metallurgical mine, oil, water supply and drainage,
paper making, pharmaceutical, food, etc..

Characteristics
1. Variable forms for different kinds of working conditions. Compact and
remote form; Flanged, flange wafer, clamped, threaded, insertion end
connection; DC/AC, battery power supply.
2. High accuracy of ±0.5%.
3. Wide size range of 10mm~3000mm, adapt to different size of pipelines.
4. Full choice of liner to accommodate conductive medium from drinking water
to strongly corrosive liquid like sulfuric acid.
5. Measurement is not affected by the density, viscosity, temperature, pressure
and electroconductibility of fluid.
6. Two-line LCD, able to display positive and negative instantaneous flow and
accumulative flow.
7. No pressure loss. No moving parts.
8. Pulse and 4~20mA standard current output. Multiple choice of
communications: RS232, RS485, Modbus, Profibus, HART, etc..
9. Surface mount technology(SMT) technology of converter which possesses
self-check and self-diagnose functions.
10. Explosion-proof type can be used at relevant explosion-proof sites. IP68
remote type can be used underwater.
Product Classification
Electromagnetic flow meter is composed of sensor and converter.
Therefore it can be classified as compact type and remote type. For remote
type, the sensor and converter is connected by cable.
Based on the power supply mode, DC/AC and battery powered type.
Based on end connection difference, we have flanged connection, Flange
wafer connection, Clamped connection, Threaded connection and Insertion
type.

F type sensor
Normally, flanged type is composed of stainless steel
measuring tube, carbon steel housing and flange, copper
wire, liner and electrode. The housing and flanges can
also be stainless steel. The flanges are welded on the
measuring tube. Deployed with convertor, it can be made
up into compact and remote type of flow meters.

Range of application: Conductive liquid or solid-liquid

strongly corrosive medium like sulfuric acid to slurry.

F(G) type sensor is designed for large size
(DN150~3000mm) sewage conduit, the self-cleaning

K type sensor
K type is designed with no flanges, with compact
structure and weigh less. The relatively short measuring
tube has the advantage of easy cleaning. With all
stainless steel body and appropriate liner, it is able to
meet the 3A sanitary requirement in food industry. It is
often used to measure milk, beverages, etc..

J type sensor
The measuring tube of J type is connected by quick couplings, which differs from K
type. Usually used in pipelines that need to be regularly cleaned, like food production line.

L type sensor
L type sensor is designed for threaded pipelines, in
which case, it has the disadvantage of small size
range(DN15~DN50mm). Other technical data are the
same as F type.
C type sensor
C type flow sensor is designed to reduce the inconvenience of measuring in large
size pipelines. It has the advantages of easy installation and disadvantage of low
precision grade.

Convertors
L-mag B convertor
With high speed CPU and advanced signal
processing technology, L-mag B series convertor is able
to provide stable and accurate performance. Deployed
with which, the measuring accuracy of KDLD
electromagnetic flow meter can be ensured better than
±0.5% in the flow rate range of 0.1~10m/s.
Display: Three-line LCD, have three integrator inside,
positive accumulative flow, negative accumulative
flow, and the difference total of the two.
Parameters setting: The parameters, such as flow
unit, instrument factor, pulse equivalent, signal output
range, etc., can be set through the buttons on the
remote control or panel.
Current output: 4~20mA; 0~10mA.
Digital frequency and pulse output:
Alarm output: High alarm, low alarm,etc.
Power supply: 16~36V DC / 85~250V AC

Lectotype Instructions
The measured fluid must be conducting liquid or slurry with a conductibility no less
than 5μs/cm, avoid fluid with too much ferromagnetic substance or bubble. The pressure
rating, liner material, electrode material and instrument structure should be chosen based
on the characteristics of the fluid.
Selection of nominal diameter
1. As electromagnetic flowmeter has a high rangeability of 1500:1, the selection of
nominal diameter is the same as that of process pipe;
2. If there are solid particle in the measured medium, a flow rate range of 1~3m/s is
recommended. If the practical flow rate is excessive yet inconvenient to adjust, the
nominal diameter of the instrument is better larger than that of the process pipe, under
which condition the flow rate in the measuring pipe of the flowmeter can be properly
decreased and the abrasion of electrode and liner caused by the particle can be
alleviated;
3. If there are sediment in the process pipe, a flow rate range of 1~3m/s is recommended.
If the practical flow rate is too little, the nominal diameter of the instrument is better
smaller than that of the process pipe in order to properly increase the flow rate of the
fluid in the flowmeter to avoid the effect on the accuracy caused by the sediment.
4. If the flow rate is too little yet a high-precision measurement is required, a sensor
smaller than the nominal diameter can increase the flow rate to ensure high precision.
In the above 2,3,4 conditions, a reducing pipe should be jointed to both the upstream
and downstream of the flowmeter. The centre taper angle should be no more than 150 and
there should be a straight pipe at least 5 times of the the process pipe jointed to the
reducing pipe.
To help making lectotype, several flow values which corresponding to the certain
typical flow rate are listed in the table below, any flow value could be quickly work out
based on the corresponding flow rate: If a flow value is known as Q(m3/h), according to

the relevant nominal diameter, check out the corresponding flow value Q1 with a flow rate
of 1m/s, then the flow rate can be work out through a formula as V=Q/Q1(m/s).

organic acid, etc..
Hastelloy C(HC)
Resist the corrosion of oxidizing acid, such as nitric acid, mixed acid,
the mixture of chromic acid and sulfuric acid, oxidizing salt like Fe+++
,
Cu++
or other oxidants such as hypochlorite solution above ordinary
temperature and seawater.
Titanium(Ti)
Resist the corrosion of seawater, all kinds of chloride, hypochlorite,
oxidizing acid(include fuming nitric acid), organic acid, alkali, etc.,
unable to resist the corrosion of purer reducing acid like sulfuric acid

and hydrochloric acid. The corrosivity of alpha hydroxy acids will be
substantially decreased if there are oxidants such as nitric acid, Fe+++
,
Cu++
, etc. in it.
Tantalum(Ta)
The corrosion resistance of tantalum is as good as glass. Except
hydrofluoric acid, fuming nitric acid and alkali, it is able to resist the
corrosion of almost any other chemical media.
Platinum-iridium alloy Almost be able to work with any chemical medium other than aqua
regia and ammonium salt.
As there is a great variety of medium and their corrosivity can be affected by
complexity factors such as temperature, concentration, flow rate, etc., the above two
tables are just for reference. Customers should make choices according to the practical
situations, if necessary, corrosion resistance experiment like hanging sheet experiment of
simulation materials should be performed.
Selection of liner protection flange and grounding flange

Grounding flange
Applicable to non-conductive pipeline like plastic
pipeline. However, it is not required for the sensor
with polytetrafluoroethylene liner.
Inlet protection flange
Applied when the medium has strong wear ability,
often used with polyurethane liner. However, it is not
applicable to the sensor with polytetrafluoroethylene
liner.

Please read this brochure carefully to know the product model and coding
rules before ordering, then choose the right product(s) and relevant code
according to practical requirement. For remote flowmeter, a special cable of 10
meters is provided along. If the spacing is greater than 10 meters, guests
should order according to the practical spacing. If necessary, please note:
A: the parameters like upper limit value of flow range or the relevant flow rate
that need to be set before the flowmeter ex-work;
B: whether there is a requirement of immersing usage;
C: whether there is a requirement of providing companion vice flange for
installation;
