While we talk about individual tree workers injured or killed performing arboricultural opera ons, we o en ignore the fact that these incidents may have been the outcome of collec ve decisions of the sales arborist, the opera ons manager, the crew leader and the crew. This academy will look at the root causes of our most common incidents and everyone can improve safety from the sale, the job briefing, the opera on, and emergency preparedness.

Track 1 English: An Introduc on to Arboriculture Texas North Rooms 114‐115

This course is intended for field workers and their supervisors, and will teach how to perform top quality tree care in an efficient yet safe manner.

Classroom topics include: Job site safety, Tree industry fatality causes and sta s cs, Tree hazard assessment, Decay fungi ID, Tree biology and its relevance to pruning and CODIT, and Proper pruning techniques.

Field demonstra ons will include:

Moving rope system (MRS) and sta onary rope system (SRS) climbing techniques

Lead instructor is Cer fied Arborist Guy LeBlanc of Arbor Vitae Tree Care of Aus n, assisted by Paul Johnson with the Sustainable Forestry Ini a ve. With over 60 years of tree care industry experience between them, Guy and Paul have each been teaching tree care to arborists and the general public for over 20 years.
