This year we are excited to have Dr. Tara Rye join us. She is the former dean of Women at Grace University, a wonderful mother, wife, writer and teacher. Tara’s love for a good story makes her heart sing. She incorporates biblical storying along with inductive Bible study methods in small groups at church, in a homeless shelter, on mission trips, on the radio and at speaking engagements. She also serves as the President/Founder of Cultivating Hearts Ministries.

women’s retreat
themeTara will be speaking on Biblical Hospitality, one of her most recent studies. Here is what she says about it: In biblical tradition, followers of God held every encounter as holy and an invitation into the presence and plan of God. We can often find ourselves frustrated in loving or serving others not like us. The Bible sometimes refers to these people as the foreigner, stranger, alien, or sojourner. All of us, at one point, are a foreigner to God when we do not know Him. When we do know Him, we are a foreigner to this world. The Old and New Testament reveal God’s heavenly hospitality toward us and how we can share it with others. So come and learn how to grow in cultural intelligence and live out the ethics of hospitality. When we seek to grow in these we will discover that our marriages will be transformed, our parenting matured, our church more intentional in serving, and our communities changed.
