There is no prerequisite for this training however it is highly recommended to have a broad knowledge in the workplace health and safety. An International or a National General Certificate is suggested.

Who should attend this course?The NEBOSH International Diploma is designed to provide students with the expertise – wherever in the world they may be working – required to undertake a career as a safety and health practitioner. It also provides a sound basis for progression to an MSc or more specialist study (such as the NEBOSH Specialist Diploma in Environmental Management).

AssessmentThis qualification is assessed through the three 3 hour exams for Units A, B & C and a workplace-based assessment for Unit D which are set by NEBOSH.

Is this qualification recognised?On successful completion of the qualification, the Diploma holder may apply for Graduate membership (Grad IOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), (www.iosh.co.uk). This qualification is also accepted by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (www.iirsm.org) as meeting their requirements for full membership (MIIRSM). United Kingdom professional health and safety bodies have a growing international reputation with a number of international branches being formed.

Holders of this qualification may use the designatory letters IDipNEBOSH after their name.

Course Duration 6 weeks spread over one year.

About the courseThis qualification is specifically designed for people with safety responsibility in the oil and gas industry. The qualification focuses on international standards and management systems, enabling students to effectively discharge workplace safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore. The Certificate also highlights the importance of process safety management in the oil and gas industry.There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification, however it is highly recommended that students have an existing underpinning knowledge of safety issues or have completed a NEBOSH Certificate level qualification previously.

A perfect introduction to health and safety.The qualification is designed for individuals working to international standards. It provides participants with a broad overview on health & safety in the work environment. This qualification is an ideal first step towards the NEBOSH’s International General Certificate.

Who should attend this course?All individuals who wish to have a basic knowledge in health & safety.

What does the course cover?It covers risk assessments and ways to control common workplace hazards such as fire, lifting and carrying, work equipment, electrical safety, hazardous substances and transport.The syllabus is divided into 2 units(1) Workplace safety foundations(2) Risk assessment activity

Course duration and how is the course assessed?3 days plus a 45 minutes multiple choice examination and a two hour practical risk assessment which tests the participant’s ability to put into practice the knowledge gained during the course. A qualification parchment will be awarded to all successful students.

Managers, supervisors and employees based outside the UK who require a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety principles and practices.The qualification focuses on international standards and management systems, enabling candidates to effectively discharge workplace health and safety responsibilities in any employment sector, in all parts of the world.

The NEBOSH International General Certificate is also suitable for those embarking on a career in health and safety, providing a sound basis for progression on to the NEBOSH International Diploma.

Assessment

There are two written examinations

Paper 1 Management of Health & Safety;Paper 2 Controlling Workplace Hazards plus a workplace-based practical assignment.

CertificationOn successful completion of the course you will receive a NEBOSH accredited certificate.

Is this qualification recognised? The International General Certificate qualification meets the academic requirements for Technician Membership (Tech IOSH) of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).

practical Courses Fire and Confined Space

Fire fightingThis one day program is a combination of theory and practical training on fire prevention and fire fighting techniques. The course will take the participants through a range of fire related topics; principles of fire triangle, location of fire fighting equipment and escape routes, fire chemistry and ignition sources, fire hazards, flammable materials and fire spread, need for vigilance and readiness for emergency response, fire/smoke detection and alarm systems, portable fire fighting equipment, PPE & RPE. The afternoon practical session includes using hand-held firefighting equipment on real fires. Every participant takes part in using the extinguishers.

Emergency preparednessIn all cases where there is potential serious harm to people at work and affected by work, emergency preparedness by way of proper planning and testing will reduce the consequences of on-site emergencies and help to mitigate the effects . On this two day training, workers will learn how to be prepared and correctly respond during an emergency.

Advanced Fire FightingFire prevention and fire rescues both form part of this very popular two day course. Participants

will learn the correct techniques of using hand operated firefighting equipment. The course is held at DUBAL fire training ground which caters for practical firefighting demonstrations. Practical firefighting exercises are demonstrated by experienced fire fighters and practiced by all learners.

Live Fire Drill ExerciseThis two day comprehensive training includes the following subject area: Correct use of breathing apparatus, PPE, general vehicle safety, communications, fire classification identification and use of firefighting media and its application, rescue operation, working in smoke, post incident considerations and report writing. This training includes both theory and practical demonstration exercises and debriefs with a strong emphasis on team participation, first responder and second responder.

Confined Space Entry And rescueThis two day course is physical and will be probably more physical than the delegate encounters in their normal daily workplace. Participants will be taught on the use of the tripod/quadpod plus either winch or retractable retrievable fall arrest block as a means of access to confined spaces, plus rescue and emergency evacuation from either a horizontal or vertical confined space. This program is only recommended for participants who are physically fit and healthy.

kitchen Fire SafetyThis one day course is designed to

demonstrate the causes of commercial and domestic kitchen fire and techniques to prevent and control the fire. The program will take participants through a range of topics including why fire start and failed to be controlled, common sources of kitchen fires, components of exhaust and fire suppression systems.
