Lehigh University

4,500 Undergraduate students with a freshman to sophomore retention rate of more than 94% and a GRR greater than 85%.

More than 75% of those students dropped for poor scholarship return to complete their degree.

Repeated course policy permits students to repeat any course to improve GPA but only the most recent grade counts in the CGPA

Issues # 1

Once a student has been on probation for a semester they are not eligible to be placed on probation again. At the EOT with a poor CGPA they are immediately eligible to be dropped, or have the probationary status continued

Page 4: Bruce Correll Registrar November 22, 2004, 9:00 a.m. PABUG

Issues # 2

• Students with a term GPA below our expectations, but a cumulative GPA that is within good standing policies.

Page 5: Bruce Correll Registrar November 22, 2004, 9:00 a.m. PABUG

Issues # 3

• SGBSTDN Admit term for tracking and degree audit catalog year

• Readmit using SAAQUIK not always a best practice.

Lehigh’s Academic Standing Rules

• Incremental Min. GPA scale from 1.7 to 2.0

• Based on credits earned at end of term (EOT)

• Warning system for Good Standing but term GPA less than 1.7

• One probation semester limit, continue or drop

ASTD Sequence Path #1

1. Good Standing

2. If CGPA < minimum status to Probation

3. If CGPA > Min to 01 Good Standing ** (with prior pro status)

4. If CGPA < Min, but TGPA > 2.2 Continue Probation

5. If CGPA < Min and Term < Min Drop Eligible

6. If {{Decision}} to Drop status changes to DS Dropped prevents Registration Term issues)

7. If {{Decision}} to readmit change status to DR does not prevent registration requires no act in SAAQUIK.

8. IF CGPA EOT is > Min return to 01Good standing**

ASTD Sequence Path # 2

• 01 Good Standing and EOT CGPA < Min status to DE {{decision}} to CP or DS• 01 and EOT CGPA > Min and TGPA <1.70 to WA Semester Warning• 01 and EOT CGPA > Min and TGPA > Min status unchanged with 01• A student with any term of probation may never return to 00 Good Standing• At the end of each subsequent term each 01 student is tracked by the terms of bullets

1, 2, & 3

ASTD ”Good” for LU Practices• Prep steps before running SHRASTD• Any Student with a EOT ASTD code with a Probation indicator set to Y for the

immediate prior term and earns a EOT CGPA that removes them from probation will have a next status by SHAACST rule to RP – Remove from Probation (RP does not have a probation indicator set to Y)

• RP indicates for tracking, mentoring, and credit hour restrictions that the student has just been returned to good standing. Part of our EOT processing is to set all RP’s to 01 for auto processing

• We will do anything, including creating new ASTD codes to avoid using a override with SGBSTDN_ASTD_CODE. These codes are term effective and prevent normal ASTD processing. Every EOT we search for any override codes and remove them!!!

• We have a series of Ad Hoc queries to check to see if anyone has an incorrect EOT ASTD status based on hours earned and CGPA
