    INTRODUCTIONMedical Science has made tremendous advances inlast two decades. Newer diagnostic and therapeuticmodalities like ultrasound, CT scan, MRI, PET scan,etc. are developing at a rapid pace. It is possible toimpart this knowledge to the medical students.

    However, there is acute shortage of supportivetechnical staff familiar with the newer techniques. X-ray technologist plays an important role in helpingthe radiologist to make a diagnosis by providinggood quality films and helping in various diagnosticand therapeutic procedures. With advances intechnology and expansion in medical care, there isincreasing requirement of trained radiographers andsupervisors to meet the expectations. Hence moreand more job opportunities shall be available to the

    persons trained in X-ray and imaging technology.

    With improving standards of medical care and forfurther upgradation, there is a need for highlyqualified imaging professionals in this field all overthe country. Further, placements are being solicitedby the multinational companies for the bright

    technologists and highly skilled students asApplication experts specializing in different fields inimaging technology. There exists a vast untappedpotential in this field. Further, with many upcominginstitutions for providing training for radiographers,there shall be increasing requirement for tutors. TheB.Sc. (MT) course in Medical Technology(Radiography) is aimed at meeting this risingdemand as well as at enhancing the quality of care.

    OBJECTIVES1) This is a vocational educational technician

    course in X-ray technology which will fulfillneed of trained manpower in the field of healthservices.

    2) This Medical Technology Radiography coursewill ensure & help better patient care &

    diagnosing the patient in accurate manner &direction to achieve optimum result by theMedical Professionals.

    3) To enhance the standard of knowledge andexperience of the students in the field ofMedical Technology (Radiography) and toupdate them with the newer developmentstaking place in the field of radiodiagnosis.

    4) The students will be aware and conversant with

    latest sophisticated modern Imaging modalitiessuch as CT scan, MRI and PET Scan etc.

    5) To make the students aware of variousradiation safety measures meant for staffmembers and general public.

    The candidate should not belong to the Creamy

    Layer. The proof of Non-creamy Layer certificateissued by one of the Competent Authorities asmentioned above should be submitted along withthe Application Form.

    The reservation policy, in respect of Persons withdisability (PWD), if any, shall be followed inaccordance with the Govt. prescribed norms asadopted by the University of Delhi.

    Provided that, if any seat(s) reserved for the

    candidates belonging to OBC category remainsunfilled due to non- availability of eligiblecandidate(s), the same shall be filled up by OpenMerit List.

    (c) Candidates belongs to PhysicallyHandicapped (PH) category

    Three percent (3%) seats are reserved on horizontal

    basis for the candidates belongings to the Physically

    Handicapped category.

    The Physically Handicapped candidates having

    disability of lower limbs from 50% to 70% only are

    eligible and may apply as per the guidelines of the

    Medical Council of India.

    Note: In the event of all the seats not beingfilled up from among the Physically Handicappedcandidates with the above stipulated physicaldisability then the seats will be offered to thecandidates with the physical disability of the 40% to50% (vide Medical Council of India letter No. MCI-34(41)/2007-Med./23553 dated 18/12/2007), whomay also apply.

    The application form should be accompanied by

    certificate certifying valid permanent physical

    disability issued by a duly notified Medical Board of

    a District/Government Hospital set up for examining

    the physical challenged candidates under the

    provision of the persons with Disability (equal

    opportunities, protection of rights of full

    participation) Act 1995. The certificate should

    indicate the extent of permanent physical disability

    (i.e. percentage) and it should bear the photograph

    of the candidate concerned and it should be

    countersigned by one of the Doctors constituting the

    Board issuing the certificate.

    If Physically Handicapped category candidate

    belongs to SC, ST or OBC category, he/she should

    also enclose appropriate certificate.

    ADMISSION CRITERIA

    ELIGIBILITY: A candidate who is an Indian citizen iseligible for admission to the course if he/she fulfilsthe following requirements:

    (i) AGE ON ADMISSION: An Applicant shouldhave attained or will attain the age of 17

    (seventeen) years as on 31st Dec. of the year ofadmission. Candidates attaining 17 years of age on1st Jan. of the subsequent year or later will not beeligible to appear at the compititive EntranceExamination.(ii) The candidates must have studied and passedXIth and XIIth class examination under 10+2 system

    as a regular student, conducted by the CBSE/Councilfor the Indian School Certificate Examination/ JamiaMilia Islamia New Delhi (except PatracharVidhyalaya and National Institute of Open Schooling)from a recognized school conducted regular classesand situated with in the National Capital Territory ofDelhi only, will be eligible for admission. Further thecandidate must have passed the required subjectsi.e., Physics, Chemistry, (including organicchemistry), Biology (botany and zoology) andEnglish individually and must have obtained aminimum of 50% of marks (40% in case of SC/STcategory candidates and 45% marks in case of OBCcategory) in aggregate in these subjects.(iii) Candidates who have appeared/passed 10+2Examination with X-ray Technology in vocationalscheme conducted by the CBSE, New Delhi, with

    minimum 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST & 45%for OBC) will also be eligible for EntranceExamination.(iv) Certificate/Diploma in X-ray Technology ofatleast two year duration conducted in Delhirecognized by a Board/University with minimum50% marks.(v) The candidate who are appearing at 12th classexamination in 2011 would be allowed to appear in

    B.Sc. (MT) Radiography course subject to thecondition that candidates must have passed thequalifying examination, in all the required subjectsseparately (Theory and Practical), for admission toB.Sc. (MT) Radiography course before 20th June,2011.(vi) A candidate who had not taken any one ormore the required subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry,Biology and English in the qualifying examinationbut had subsequently passed in that subject(s) as anadditional subject is not eligible.(vii) Candidate who have appeared in the AnnualExamination of the year 2011 and placed undercompartment will not be eligible.(viii) Candidate who have appeared in the AnnualExamination of the year 2011 and are reappearingfor improvement will also not be considered eligible.

    The candidate is require to secure the marks inEntrance test to become eligible for admission to the1st year B.Sc. (MT) Radiography course as givenbelow:General category (Unreserved)- 50%, ScheduleCaste/Tribe-40% and OBC Category-45%respectively.

    The candidate who secures below percentage of theprescribed marks in the Entrance Test as indicatedabove shall not be considered eligible for admission.

    The candidates who are yet to appear in thesupplementary examination of the qualifying courseat the time of entrance examination, shall not beconsidered eligible for the competitive examination.

    COMPETITIVE ENTRANCEEXAMINATIONAll the candidates who are found eligible as perdetails stated under criteria of eligibility shall berequired to appear in the entrance examinationwhich shall be conducted by the University of Delhion 11th June, 2011 at UCMS and GTB Hospital, Delhi-110095. The examination shall be of 90 minutesduration, and shall consist of one paper containingmultiple choice questions.

    Admit cards shall be dispatched to the eligiblecandidates by post during the 1st week of June,2011. If the admit card is not received, the duplicateadmit card shall be issued in person, on 8th and 9th

    June, 2011 by the office of Academic Section, UCMS.At the time of collection of duplicate admit card, thecandidate should submit a photograph duly attestedby a Gazetted Officer on the front side and signed

    by the candidate as well.

    No candidate shall be admitted to the ExaminationHall, unless he/she holds admit card issued by theCollege.

    SYLLABUS FOR THE ENTRANCE TEST:

    The general standard of the competitive Entranceexamination will be that of 12th Class under the10+2 scheme.

    The entrance test will consist of one papercontaining objective type (multiple choice questions)in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, (includingorganic chemistry), Biology (botany and zoology).

    The medium of Examination will be English.

    APPLICATION PROCEDURE(a) The prospectus containing application form canbe obtained in person from the reception counter ofUniversity College of Medical Sciences, Delhi-110095, on receipt of cash /bank draft/pay orderdrawn on any nationalized bank in favour of THEPRINCIPAL, University College of MedicalSciences (UCMS) of Rs. 500/- (non-refundable)payable at Delhi, which includes examination fee.(b) The Application Form may also bedownloaded from the College websitewww.ucms.ac.in and the same may be sent tothe Principal University College of MedicalSciences, Dilshad Garden, Delhi-110095 dulyfilled in along with requisite Demand Draft/PayOrder amounting to Rupees 500/- in favour of

    the Principal, University College of MedicalSciences payble at Delhi on or before the lastdate, i.e., 3rd May, 2011.(c) Application fee of Rs. 500/- shall not berefunded under any circumstances, i.e. whether thecandidate appears or does not appear in theexamination on any ground, or his/her application isrejected on any grounds. No correspondence on thismatter shall be entertained.

    (d) Every candidate must fill the application formin his/her own handwriting and enclose a selfaddressed stamped envelope worth Rs. 25/- (forsending the admit card by registered/speed post)and send it in an envelope superscribed B.Sc. (MT)Radiography entrance examination to the Assistant

    Incomplete application forms, and those receivedafter last date shall not be considered. The Collegedoes not take any responsibility for the loss ofapplication form in transit.

    The last date for receiving application form isTuesday, 3rd May, 2011.

    INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING THE APPLICATIONFORM

    (a) All columns in the application form must befilled up carefully and legibly. Incomplete applicationforms or those not containing the requiredenclosures, shall be summarily rejected.

    (b)The application form duly filled in should beaccompanied with the following enclosures:

    i. Three recent passport size photographs of thecandidates duly signed by the candidatehimself/herself and attested by the Principal ofa recognized college or a Gazetted Officer, onecopy each is to be pasted in the space

    provided on the Application Form, AdmitCard and Attendance Sheet. All thephotographs must be identical and takenduring the last three month. The name of thecandidate should be written clearly on thereverse of the photographs.

    ii. An attested true copy of Matriculation/ Sec.School Examination certificate issued by theUniversity/ Board showing the date of birth of

    the candidate. (No other evidence for the dateof birth of the candidate shall be accepted).

    iii. An attested true copy of the certificate fromthe University/Board from Principal/Head of theSchool from which the candidate passedhis/her last examination or any other

    qualifying exam given in para (ii) to (iv) underEligibility.

    iv. An attested true copy of the certificate of goodconduct from Principal/ Head of the College/Institution last attended.

    v. Candidates belonging to other backwardclasses (OBC category) should enclose a copy

    of the certificate with the application form tothe effect that he/she belongs to OBC categoryduly certified by one of the competentauthorities as listed below. However, the OBCstatus shall be determined on the basis of thecentral list of OBC notified by the Ministry ofSocial Justice and Empowerment on therecommendations of the National Commissionfor Backward Classes available at their website(http:/ncbc.nic.in/backwardclases/index.html).

    The authorities competent to issue OBCCertificate are

    indicated below:

    (a) District Magistrate/Addl. Magistrate/ Collector/Dy. Commissioner/ Addl. DeputyCommissioner/ Dy. Collector/ Ist ClassStipendiary Magistrate/City Magistrate/ Sub-Divisional Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate/

    B.Sc. MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY

    (RADIOGRAPHY) ENTRANCE TEST-2011

    INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES

    Time Schedule

    1. Reporting time 2.00P.M.

    (Candidates shall write their particulars onthe cover page of the booklet in ink/ball penwithout breaking the seal of the test

    booklet).4. Breaking/Opening the seal of the test

    booklet

    The candidates on instructions from theinvigilators shall break/open the seal of thebooklet and take out the answer-sheet. Theyshall write their particulars on side 1. andshall write put their signature in ink on side2. They will encode the roll number, category

    (e.g. Gen/SC/ST/PWD/OBC), with black ballpoint pen only. The method is shown belowon the specimen portion from the answersheet. Candidates are advised to be carefulin writing these particulars since any wrongentry is likely to be rejected by thecomputer.

    immediately bring it to the notice of the invigilator.In such an event, the Test Booklet and the answersheet shall be replaced. In no case the candidateshould use an answer sheet which has a differentserial number than the one given along with the

    Test Booklet.

    HOW TO USE THE ANSWER SHEETIn the answer sheet the serial number of thequestion is given in the column, which correspondsto question number in the Test Booklet. In each rowthere are four circles which correspond to the fourpossible responses to that question. The candidatesshall find out the most appropriate response to thequestion and shall darken the corresponding circlecompletely with black ball points pen only.

    Examples:

    22. The natural satellite(s) of the Earth is /are:

    (1) Moon

    (2) Planetisimals

    (3) Comets

    (4) All the above

    The correct response to the question is (1) Moon. The candidate shall locate row 22 in the answersheet and shall darken the circle (1) as shownbelow:

    No correction is permitted either using whitecorrection fluid & or any kind of eraser.

    WRONG WAY

    If more than one circle is darkened or if theresponse is marked in any manner in questionshown below.

    The candidates are, therefore, advised to decide

    about the most appropriate response before theymark it in the answer sheet. A lightly or faintlydarkened circle shall also be treated as wrongmethod of marking and shall be treated as wronganswer.

    ROUGH WORK

    All rough work is to be done in the Test Booklet only.The candidates shall NOT do any rough work or putstray mark on the answer sheet.

    NOTE

    During the examination, the Invigilator shall checkthe admit cards of the candidates to satisfyhimself/herself about the identity of each candidate.

    The invigilator shall also check that candidates havefilled in their particulars correctly. The invigilatorshall also put his/her signature in the box providedin the answer sheet.

    After completing the Test and before handling overthe Test Booklet and the answer sheet it should bechecked again that all the particulars required in the

    Test Booklet and the answer Sheet have beencorrectly written or filled in.

    A signal shall be given at the beginning of theexamination and at the half time. A signal shall alsobe given 5 minutes before the closing time and atthe closing time, when the candidates must stopmarking the responses.

    GENERAL

    1. Each candidate must show on demand his/heradmit card bearing the roll number foradmission to the Examination Hall.

    2. A seat with a roll number shall be allotted toeach candidate. The candidate must find outand occupy the allotted seat.

    3. No candidate, without the permission of theSuperintendent, or the Invigilator concerned,shall leave his/her seat or the Examination Halluntil he/she finishes his/her paper. Thecandidate should not leave the ExaminationHall without handing over his/her Test Bookletand the Answer sheet to the Invigilator on duty.

    4. The candidates should not take any article in

    the Examination Hall except admit card, blackball point pens, for their use during theexamination. All books/ notes/ other material,etc. should be kept outside the ExaminationHall.

    5. The candidates are also advised to bring withthem a card/clip board on which nothing shouldbe written so that they have no difficulty in

    marking responses in the Answer Sheet as thetables provided in the Examination Hall may ormay not have even or smooth surface.

    6. Smoking in the Examination Hall is strictlyprohibited.

    7. The candidates must observe perfect silenceduring the examination and must not indulge inany conversation or gesticulation.

    8. Tea, coffee, cold drinks or snacks are notallowed to be taken inside the ExaminationHall.

    9. Use of any calculating device like slide, logtables or electronic/ manual calculator isstrictly prohibited.

    10.Cellular phone/ Pager is strictly prohibited inthe Examination Hall.

    11. The candidates must bring their admit cards

    and keep one spare attested photograph withthem.

    HOSTEL FACILITY

    The Hostel accommodation may be possible in theundergraduate Hostels separate for boys and girls.

    Out of the eligible candidates who have applied and

    appeared in the competitive entranceexamination, a merit list shall be drawn basedon the result of the competitive examination(combined and separately, category wise) asshown below:

    (a) Combined (Consolidated)

    (b) General candidates

    (c) SC candidates

    (d) ST candidates

    (e) OBC candidates(f)Persons with disabilities (PWD)

    The candidates are required to submit thedocumentary evidence of having passed theirqualifying examination with requiredpercentage of the aggregate marks.

    The criteria for selection of students havingequal marks in the Entrance Examination shallbe follows:

    (i) In case of equal marks at the EntranceExamination, the candidate securinghigher percentage of aggregate marks inthe qualifying examination as mentioned

    under the admission criteria.

    (ii) In case of candidates having equalpercentage of aggregate marks in thequalifying examination, the date of birthwould be the basis for selection, i.e. thecandidate having higher age shall beoffered admission first.

    After the declaration of the result of Entrance

    Examination, all eligible candidates shall be requiredto attend the counseling for final offer of admission.

    Those candidates who do not attend the counselingshall not be considered for admission.

    The candidates qualifying for admission shall beinformed about their selection by the College byRegistered Post/By Hand. The College shallnot be responsible for the non-receipt of intimationby the candidates.

    Candidates must also note that the College does notissue or supply any marksheet of the result of theEntrance Examination and no correspondence onthis subject shall be entertained. No intimation tounsuccessful candidates shall be sent.

    IMPORTANT

    1. In case any candidate is found to havefurnished false information/certificate, etc. or isfound to have withheld or concealed someinformation in his/her Application Form, he /sheshall be debarred from admission to thisCourse.

    2. In case, any document required to besubmitted alongwith application form, is not inorder, the application shall be summarilyrejected.

    3. The candidate must note that he/she shouldnot submit original certificates in any casealong with the application form. The College

    does not take any responsibility for returningthe original certificates.

    4. Any attempt on the part of the candidate toinfluence the result of the examination directlyor indirectly shall result in his/herdisqualification.

    5. An application form which is incomplete in anyrespect, shall not be accepted/processed.

    6. The candidates are advised to check and

    ensure that the Serial Number mentioned onthe application form, attendance sheet, admitcard and acknowledgement slip are the same.In case any discrepancy is noted, the sameshould be immediately brought to the notice ofthe Asstt. Registrar (Academic). Any complaintsreceived after the examination is held, shall notbe entertained.

    The serial Number inscribed on the application

    form/ admit card shall be considered as theNumber for all correspondence purposes till aRoll No. is allotted on the admit card.

    7. It shall be the responsibility of the candidate toensure that the correct address is filled in theapplication form and on the admit card. Iforiginal admit card is not received, thecandidates are required to collect duplicateadmit cards personally on 8th/9th June, 2011from the Academic Section Room No. 210,College Block.     Medical Examination

    The selected candidates shall have to undergoa medical examination by the Medical Board set upby the College. If in the assessment by the MedicalBoard a candidate is found medically unfit to join the

    course, then he/she shall be rejected and shall notbe admitted to the course. The decision of the Boardshall be final. In such case, the next student in orderof merit shall be offered admission to the course.

    GENERAL

    If any candidate selected for admission fails tojoin the course by the prescribed date, his/her seatshall be offered to the candidate next in the merit in

    the category, without any further correspondence.

    COMMENCEMENT OF THE SESSION

    The course shall commence from 1st Aug., 2011.

    Selected candidates shall be required to bringthe following certificates in original for verification.Failure to produce the same may result incancellation of admission:-

    (a) All original certificates showing the eligibilityof the candidate for admission to the 1st yearB.Sc. (MT) Radiography

    (b) Certificate from the District Magistrate or theofficials specified in the prospectus showingthat the applicant belongs to ScheduledCaste/Tribe/OBC/PWD category as indicated
