Rajasthan Forest Depart-ment has categorically stat-ed that killing or injuringbats would be punished asper the provisions of theWildlife Protection Act.This comes after incident ofkilling large number of batsin Rajgarh of Churu dis-trict. The incident wassparked off due to fear ofthe Coronavirus which isclaimed to have been spreadfrom bats.

This incident took place inthe LIC office of Rajgarhwhere people saw severalbats in the parking areawhen they returned to workwhen relaxations were an-nounced in lockdown 3. Thelocal administration ad-vised them to wait for a dayor two to let them fly away.But in the evening residents

from surrounding areas lita fire and the smoke causedthe bats to fall down, theythen attacked them griev-ously. Some were reportedlykilled. The forest depart-ment took charge of thebats and released them inthe forest areas.

The Chief Wildlife War-den Rajathan, ArindamTomar, then issued a strictadvisory that harming batsis a punishable offence. Itstated that there is no re-search to prove that Corona

has been caused by batswhile it is a proven fact thatbats play a positive role innature by facilitating polli-nation and seed dispersal. Itwent on to say that actionwill be taken against thosekilling or trying to dispersebats from their habitat.

It needs to be mentionedthat there are around 128species of bats found in India and out of these asmany as 25 are found in Rajasthan.

Women and students indistress in various parts ofthe country, including Delhiand Mumbai, told newschannels about their desper-ate situation as they did nothave enough money to make

Private vehicle ownerswere demanding up to threelakh rupees to make a tripfrom places like Delhi,which the stranded peoplesaid they could not afford topay. They have made distresscall to all possible contacts,but without any success.

225 migrant workers from Bihar reachTelangana to work in rice mills

The special train carrying225 migrant workers of Bi-har have reached Lingam-pally railway station inTelangana. These peoplecame as they wanted to workin rice mills in Telangana.

"The special train whichbrought 225 migrant work-ers from Bihar reached ataround 12:55 pm. Theseworkers were willing towork in the rice mills inTelangana. After theyreached here they werescreened and PPE kits werelater given to them," said VCSajjanar, Cyberabad Police

migrant workers have beensent to different locationslike Peddapalli district, Jag-tial district and Miryalgudadistrict, where they willwork in rice mills." Upontheir arrival at Lingampal-ly railway station, CivilSupplies Minister GangulaKamlakar along with otherofficials visited the railwaystation to welcome the mi-grant labourers.

This is for the first timesince the lockdown was im-posed that the migrantworkers willingly left theirnative state to work in someother state.

Speaking on the recentdeath of 16 migrant work-ers in Aurangabad, Kam-lakar said, "We are sad-dened after hearing aboutthe migrant labourersmeeting with accidents ontheir way back to theirhomes. We request themnot to walk from their resi-dences in Telangana totheir destinations becausethe state government ismaking arrangements fortheir safe travel to their na-tive states. However, theycan also work here at various places as few sectors have been allowedto be functional during thelockdown."

Police on Saturday rescued the three-year-old child whowas kidnapped from near his house in Uttar Pradesh'sMathura district, an official said.

The child was missing since Friday morning after hewent to play outside his house in Parasuram Colony inRaya area.

In the early hours on Saturday, police found the childat a temple in Tabaka village which is around 10-kmaway from Raya, said SSP Gaurav Grover.

The six teams formed to investigate the case were inthe area since Friday afternoon, he said.

The child's father, who is a 'lekhpal' (revenue official),said due to sincere efforts of police and checkposts atvarious places the kidnappers had to release his son.

The northeastern region,which has traditionallybeen disciplined, hasemerged as the model ofcoronavirus managementand the rest of the countryshould emulate it, Unionminister Jitendra Singhsaid on Saturday.

He said people in the eightnortheastern states -Sikkim, ArunachalPradesh, Mizoram, Ma-nipur, Meghalaya, Naga-land, Tripura and Assam -have been following thelockdown-related guide-lines in letter and spirit.

"By tradition and bylifestyle, people of north-eastern region are civilisedand disciplined. That is whythey could very easily fol-low the lockdown guide-lines. There has been no

problem in ensuring imple-mentation of the lockdown-related guidelines there,"Singh told PTI.

He said within six years ofthe Modi government, thenortheastern region hasemerged as the model fordevelopment for the entirecountry.

"Similarly, during thelockdown due to COVID-19,entire northeast has be-come model for the wholecountry to emulate it," hesaid, adding that the waypeople are adhering to theseguidelines is commendable.

Two Indians who returned from Gulf toKerala test positive for COVID-19

Thiruvananthapuram: Two persons, who returned from abroadto Kerala, have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, taking thetotal number of active cases in the state to 17, Chief MinisterPinarayi Vijayan said on Saturday. The duo returned to Keralafrom Dubai and Abu Dabhi respectively. While one of theinfected persons is being treated in Kozhikode, the second isreceiving treatment in Kochi. So far 505 people have detectedpositive for COVID-19 in the state, of which 485 have recoveredand 3 have succumbed to the infection.
