Unpack the product carefully and check the contents of the packing, as listed under item "Supplied items". If it´s not complete, please contact your supplier, quoting the serial number of the product. The Bluetooth-module is delivered in an antistatic packaging. In case of being forwarded or return to the manufacturer, make sure that the module is protected by an antistatic packaging. Under the item "disposal" you can find instructions about the disposal of the packing and the product.

7.1 Identification of variants

For the two existing variants of the PCM there also exist two different variants of the Bluetooth-module. You recognize them if you have a look at the Porsche-Part number or (without removing the PCM) on the internal software version page.

If your PCM is still installed in the vehicle, please access the internal information page. To get there, you have to hold the AC-button pressed first and after this you have to press the dark-button. Now you can see a picture like on the right side. Check out the PCM-SW: PCM/IDIS

Version V3.xx → needs HWA1 Version V5.xx → needs HWA20

Make sure that you have received the correct module. You are able to recognize the variant of the BTIF module on the right edge. Either you can see the marking BTIF HWA1 or BTIF HWA20 both lettered in gold.

At first you have to remove the old original module. With variant HWA1 the black plastic cover in front of the old module has to be removed first. The plugs marked as „X“ must get unplugged. For example, you can lever them out using a flat screwdriver. The screws marked as "S" (Torx T8) should be unscrewed next. For variant HWA1 use the supplied screws for reassembly. For variant HWA20 please use the original screws.

The backside of the PCM HWA1 with new installed BTIF module. The plug X2 and its wire are no longer required. This wire should be bound together with a cable tie or should be cutted of.

Never put the cable X2 into the PCM with its shield!

The external copper shield could cause short circuits inside the device!

page 8/16 © Elektronik-Idee Weber GmbH 2015

Now exchange the old module by the new module. With variant HWA1 please make sure that the black spacers are in place.

The assemply of module HWA1 is only allowed if the black plastic spacers are mounted on it. If the spacers are missing or broken, order the spacers from the manufacturer. Never install the module HWA1 without the spacers!

7.2 Bluetooth antenna

Connect the supplied Bluetooth antenna with the SMB connector X3. The Bluetooth antenna can be placed behind or under the center console. Important rule: The closer the antenna is placed to the mobile phone, the better and more stable the Bluetooth connection will be. The original GSM vehicle antenna and connector are no longer needed. When you disconnect the the SMB Plug X3, you need to hold the board around the socket so the module wont´t be bent too much!

7.3 CD Changer plug / A2DP Music Streaming

It is possible to use the Bluetooth function A2DP music streaming using the provided CD changer adapter cable. This cable also allows the operating of original CD changer. The two small black plugs on it are marked by „O“ and

page 9/16 © Elektronik-Idee Weber GmbH 2015

„U“. The O-plug has to be plugged into the O-socket (O means the top). The U-plug gas to be plugged into the U-socket (U means the bottom). The original CD changer-plug Mini-ISO (yellow/green/blue) should be unplugged and instead plugged into the red connector of the CD changeradapter cable.

7.4 Setting Microphone sensitivity

The microphone that is factory installed can also be use with the BTIF module. But you will have to make sure it is set to the maximum amplification. Should your voice be to to low at the other end, please check the microphone level.

The microphone is mounted right on the side of the instrument cluster. It is not fixed by screws or similar, just plugged into the dash board. Please use a plastic item or small screwdriver to unmount it. ATTENTION please be very careful not to damage the dash board. It may be useful to put some adhesive tape on the dash board in advance to protect it from sharp

edges of the unmounting tool.

On the side of the microphone there is a little hole where inside of this there is a switch. The slot of the switch must be set to position 3 indicated on the sticker. Makesure the switch is exactly pointing to position 3 because else ther might be no microphone signal at all. The sensitivity can be fine tuned by the internal functions described at point 9 in this manual.

8. Initial startup

Because the functions phone/SIM card and CD changer are simulated by the wireless Bluetooth interface, the functions of the BTIF-module behave partially different than original. After the installation of the BTIF module, the SIM slot has no function anymore.

8.1 Pairing the phone

If no phone is connected, the MAIN-page of the PCM displays "no card" and on the PCM “TEL” page you can read "Please insert phone card" It is now no longer necessary to put in a SIM card, you only have to connect your phone via Bluetooth. As soon as a phone is connected, the PCM behaves like a SIM card would be inserted.

Now perform these steps:

1. Activate Bluetooth on your mobile phone.2. Search for new devices.3. You´ll find „BTIF-12345“. The number after BTIF is individual.4. Pair/connect the device.5. Your phone requests a PIN for pairing.6. Enter the provided PIN

If you get asked if BTIF should be granted access to the address book, please press "Yes" and let the device save this setting.

Because of the security settings it´s possible at the initial pairing, that the address book isn´t displayed inthe PCM. If this happens, please grant access,

disconnect the device BTIF for a short time and reconnect again.

page 11/16 © Elektronik-Idee Weber GmbH 2015

8.2 Automatic coupling

Approx. 1 minute after switching off the ignition, the mobile phone gets automatically disconnected of the BTIF module. If you switch on ignition again, the BTIF module connects automatically with the last connected phone. If this phone isn´t reachable (out of reach or switched off), the BTIF module tries to connect with the last phone, that was connected before. The BTIF is able to remember four phone connections.

8.3 Pairing further phones

Before a further phone can be connected, each phone that has been connected before, must be deactivated or disconnected from the BTIF. For doing this, switch off the phones or just deactivate the Bluetooth function of all devices. A new connection is only possible when no other phone is connected, because the BTIF module is not previously visible. Ifthe connecting doesn´t work at the first attempt, please try it serveral times to reconnect and also try switching off and on again Bluetooth on your phone.

8.4 Connected

If a phone was connected with BTIF/PCM successfully, it´s name gets visible at the MAIN page of the PCM. At the page TEL now the address book is displayed. The GSM signal strength is transferred from the phone and gets expressed as bars on the PCM display. The functions address book/ contacts, favourite numbers, selection by digits, call list, the redial list work like they did it in the past.

The PCM functions like SMS, Choose network, Copycard, Shuffle cards, Call forwarding, Change PIN, Call sound, Send DTMF and Incognito do not work

with this BTIF module.

8.5 Starting phone calls

page 12/16 © Elektronik-Idee Weber GmbH 2015

Making phone calls via PCM and connected mobile phone works the same way than using the SIM card before. The telefone receiver button accepts or starts calls. Incoming calls (Ringing) mutes radio, CD or cassette automatically. The ring tone of the phone will come out of the car's speaker, if the phone supports Inband-ring function. More information can be found in the user manual of your mobile phone. If no inband-ringing is supported, the PCM will ring with an internal melody. This melody can be changed in thePCM menu “Options” → Settings → Ring tone.

8.6 Playing music via mobile phone

For playing music from your mobile phone, the A2DP function must be activated in the BTIF module at first. This will be done as follows:

1. Get your phone connected with BTIF, as described.2. Call the address book via PCM TEL-button3. Move down to entry *** A2DP On ***4. Choose this entry an press the call-button.5. The call is made and suddenly finished.

The switching is done.

It is not possible to switch to the original CD changer without connecting a phone in advance!

If you now choose the CD-button, the music of your mobile phone starts playing. On some phones it may be nessecary to start the output manually via Play symbol. You can move to the next title by using the PCM-key >. It can take a short while untill the phone executes the jump. Depending on the phone, the Title back-key < only jumps back to the beginning of the song. It´simpossible to use Rewind or Fast forward within a song.

8.7 Switching back to original CD changer adapter cable

This is the same procedure like Switching to the mobile phone, but now the

page 13/16 © Elektronik-Idee Weber GmbH 2015

entry *** A2DP Off *** has to be selected and will be called for a short time. Itcan take up to a minute until the CD changer is available again, because after the Switching it has to read all 6 compartments of the magazine again.

Switching between CD changer and Bluetooth A2DP Output can confuse the PCM. Because of this it is possible, that the CD changer isn´t detected

anymore. To make the PCM identify the CD changer again, the ignition has to be switched off at least for 1 minute. It is advised that you decide between the operation of CD or Bluetooth playback before driving and don´t switch between the sources while driving.

9. Internal configurationThrough setting up calls to special phone numbers, you can retrieve and change internal settings. To use them, press TEL on the PCM and go to the option “Manual dial”.

***0 Show software version***1*1 Reset module to factory default. All paired

devices must be reconnected manually after restart of the PCM.

***4 Show if echo compensation is active***4*0 Activate echo compensation***4*1 Deactivate echo compensation***4*2 Activate automatic echo compensation***5 Show microphone sensitivity***5*09 Set Mic.sensitivity to level 9

Level can be between 01 and 15. These settings will be accepted immediatley, but only saved permanently if function ***9*1 is called afterwards

***7*0 Set phone book ordering to standard order***7*1 Set ordering by second name***9*1 Save hardware settings (Mic.sensitivity)

The feature „Echo compensation“ could cause problems when used in combination with any phone internal compensation function, which is by

page 14/16 © Elektronik-Idee Weber GmbH 2015

default activated on all decent phones. Therefore this function should only be used I specal cases.
