Rainforest Trust

BTS Partners with Rainforest Trust

Rainforests are one of the largest carbon

alarming rate. Partnering with Rainforestsinks on the planet and they are disappearing at anTrust, BTS is assisting in establishing the Las Tangaras

Nature Reserve in Colombia, one of the most vital rainforest sites on earth and home to a highconcentration of biodiversity. In addition to safeguarding the habitat and exotic species, the Las

Tangaras Nature Reserve will also protect the watershed of the Rio Atrato—the region’s most

important river—which serves as a vital economic resource for tens of thousands of inhabitants

living in poor rural communities.

Each year, BTS’s generous donation enables the organization to purchase and protect an additional

100 acres of threatened tropical rainforest in the region. Dr. Paul Salaman, Director of

Conservation at Rainforest Trust-US reflected, “Our partnership with BTS has been vital in

achieving the goal of building one of the most vitally-needed rainforest corridors and protectedareas for wildlife in South America.
