North Buffalo residents (l. to r. Skylar Leckey, Leighton Hacher, Fawn Hacher, Abigail Leckey and Kathy Leckey) are celebrating spring with a stop at Hanna’s Frosty Treats, which opened for the season last week. Hanna's Frosty Treats Opens For 2013 Season in the City of Buffalo. The Parkside area contains su- perb examples of such di- verse architectural styles such as the American Four Square, Victorian, Colonial Revival, Craftsman, and the Arts & Crafts bungalow. The 1880 thru 1930 build- ing period includes designs by prominent local archi- tects E.B. Green and Wil- liam Sydney Wicks. Parkside is adjacent to Frederick Law Olmsted’s Delaware Park, the Buffalo Zoo, and the Main-Amherst business district. Elmwood Avenue, between Forest Avenue and Iroquois Drive, has been reduced to one lane in each direction for road construction. This lane reduction is expected to be in place for a few months. You may recall that, at the end of the last construc- tion season, crews began the $2.3 million Elmwood Streetscape Project which includes: pavement re- surfacing, a new off road asphalt multi-use pathway along the west side of Elm- wood Avenue and continu- ing on the north side of For- est Avenue. There will be traffic signal upgrades, new curbs and sidewalks, land- scape improvements, new pavement markings and street lighting. The lane closure is to com- plete the work on the Elm- wood Streetscape Project. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 17 The North Buffalo Com- munity Center, 203 Sand- ers Road, will be hosting their 11th Annual Chi- nese Auction. The Auction will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Auction items include many theme baskets, and gift certificates. Refresh- ments will be available for purchase.
