The museum forms a part in the city’s universi-ty and joins in a park way landscape with other buildings. It works with the elements of space and light. Santiago’s de Compostela university is one of the oldest in Spain; the addition of the new building creates and represents the latest modest phase of the institution’s evolution. The museum is located in one of the most evocative symbolic areas of Santiago monumental zone, and to the side of it the Convent of San Domin-gos de Bonaval.

The architect’s building reflects on his admiration for the modernist movement, as well as in his own view of architecture with space. He combines volume, line and light to produce architecture that is serene and austere. The building is made with stone that relates to the tradition of the city’s architecture. In an expres-sion of respect for the sense of history that pervades Santiago. The building is along a single axis, it has high walls, with the interior filled with natural light.
