Cavenagh Bridge
• The oldest bridge in Singapore existing in its original form, it is a metaphor of how Singapore’s present and future is linked to its past.
• Located on the Singapore River that has played important role in Singapore’s early development, as well as the continuing importance of trade to Singapore.
• Also serves to remind us of the importance of building and maintaining relationships within our community and with the rest of the world.
Changi Airport
• Symbolises not only Singapore’s connection with the rest of the world, but also its place as an aspiration to be a global hub.
• Has also established itself firmly as a familiar and heart-warming icon, being the first landmark many Singaporeans see upon returning home.
• As our award-winning airport, it is a reminder that excellence is a matter of continually remaining open to and learning from the rest of the world.
Garden by the Bay
• A metaphor for the crucial role of sustainability in maintaining our success.
• The decision to build a garden and two temperate conservatories meant for Singapore’s people on prime land exemplifies three things: – Our ingenuity and courage in overcoming our
limitations, – our commitment to providing a liveable space for
our citizens, and – our vision of a green Singapore for the future.
