November 2014 ITALIA! 75 December 2015 ITALIA! 75 F or 11 months we had rented a small house in the middle of a vineyard from a local family and on the 10th of November, the day we finally moved out, they gave us some beautiful flowers and local wines to help us celebrate our first Christmas in our new home. To return to this new house in under a year was an amazing feat and a testament to the team of builders, artisans and professionals who had helped us achieve it. I would miss working with them. Our daughters arrived from the UK the week before Christmas and helped us with the festive decorations. The prosecco was chilled and the turkey bought. It was a special time of relaxation together, beach walks with the dog and plenty of good Italian food and wine. We hoped that Bruno (now deceased), the old farmer from whom we had bought the house, would be proud of what we had done. We believe we kept alive the spirit and feel of his old house; certainly the incorporation of many of the old beams, lintels and floor tiles had helped us to retain some essence of Bruno’s old home. I hope you can also see this in these before and after photos and that maybe my rebuild journey has inspired you to ‘Build your Dream’. For 11 months we had rented a small house in the middle of a vineyard from a local family and on the 10th of November, the day we finally moved out, they gave us some beautiful flowers and local wines to help us

celebrate our first Christmas in our new home. To return to this new house in under a year was an

amazing feat and a testament to the team of builders, artisans and professionals who had helped us achieve it.

It is just under a year since Jane Smith and her husband Richard began to restore their dream home. Amazingly, the house is now fi nished – just in time for Christmas…
