The industry is changing. We know. Were changing it.

    Multi-disciplinary responses toa multi-dimensional world

Todays most successful buildings are multi-dimensional,

integrated organisms that go beyond aesthetics to serve theirusers, their owners and a broader constituency. They must fit

within the larger context of an urban distr ict, a neighborhood,

a community or a culture. They must add value, both

commercial and human. Most importantly, they must create

balancebetween improving the human habitat by creating

ideal conditions for liv ing, working and playing, and doing so

with minimal or, if possible, positive environmental impact.

ARCADIS is a world leader in four sectors: Infrastructure,

Water, Environment and Buildings. Our ability to offer

integrated expertise within, among and across these segments

not only sets us apart from our competition but allows us

to bring value to every aspect of the way people around the

world live, travel, work and play. Because our Infrastructure

professionals deliver rail and road networks, bridges, tunnels,

waterways, and energy systems that reconnect communities,

improve mobility and enhance quality of l ife, we know what

works when it comes to blending buildings into urban settings

or connecting them to infrastructure networks. Because our

Environments professionals are experts in addressing soil

and groundwater contamination, energy eff iciency and waste

management, taking environmental issues into account comes

naturally to us. Each area of our business is made stronger by

    the others.

    Global solutions froma local perspective

As the world gets smaller, global business remains as

complicated and confusing as ever, if not more so. In theinternational property market, for example, success can be

based on issues ranging from asset management to local

contractor procurement, from the design of a buildings

systems to the maintenance of those systems and

everything in between. Succeeding globally requires a

broad understanding of this ever-changing new marketplace.

It also takes a seamless delivery system that transcends

languages, cultures and provincial thinking. In other words,

it needs the global perspective of a trusted local advisor.

At ARCADIS, we understand that knowing local conditions

is crucial to our success, but we also know how important it is

to think big. Our strong local positions allow us to anticipate

issues, deliver tailored solutions and leverage our global

expertise. Whether we are working with national, regional

or local governments, private property developers, multi-

national corporations or traditional institutions, we deliver

innovative results that reflect an open, collaborative work

process, a profound knowledge of our clients needs and

objectives, and a commitment to creating a balance between

the built and the natural environment.

The built environment is growing ever more complex. At the same time, sustainable approaches and

green principles are no longer after-thoughts; they are tenets guiding every new development from

the start. For these reasons, buildings can no longer be conceived as singular icons in the landscape

or skyline. They must be and do so much more.

    Balance:

A new brand of thinkingWe believe in long-term partnerships with

clients whose business strategies and values

    reflect ours.

Whether they are investors, developers, public entities or

private end-users, our clients share our commitment to

quality, integrity and innovation as well as the goal of adding

value over the long term and reducing the impact on our

    environment.

We are committed to creating balance in everything we do.

We strive to improve the quality of the human habitat without

compromising nature, but rather, by inviting it back into our

lives. Whether that balance is attained through sustainable

solutions such as energy conservation and the integration of

renewable materials, the procurement of BREEA M, LEED

or DGNB certi fications, or future-focused objectives such as

enhancing mobility in urban areas, we strive to find harmony,

equality and stability in the places we create.

    multitude of project types,

    ARCADIS delivers a range

    of services across the full

    development cyclefrom

    vast resources of the wider

    ARCADIS network, we can

    also assess the environmental

    and infrastructural issues that

    impact the built environment.

Drawing from a deep pool of

    services, we typically provide

    multi-disciplinary solutions

    across multiple geographies

    through centralized account

    Our services fall into three

    interrelated categories:

    Property and real

    estate consultancy

    Program management

    Planning and design

    What connects these

    categories is a commitment

    to creating energy-efficient

solutions that transcendbricks and mortar and

    identify lasting, sustainable

    value and v iability.

    Imagine

Working in a place that makes invigorating

    natural and urban connections.

    The Result

    An environmentally friendly development that

expands the city and showcases natural views.

Situated in an underutilized area just outside the

city center, River City Prague is a planned mixed-

use development made up of office and commercial

uses each named after a major river. ARCADIS has

provided project management services for the

    147million complex, delivering modern, environmentally

friendly facilities that provide a foundation for future

urban growth. Three of the six planned buildings

have been constructed with the most recent, Amazon

Court, a multi-functional administrative building that

combines modern office space with an inviting public

court and striking views of the River Vltava.

The building is a success as a work of architecture and

as a model of energy eff iciency and environmental

sustainability. The flexible and inviting off ice space

surrounds a large atrium, which features water,

gardens and intimate relaxing terraces connected byinternal bridges. An underground air channel system

improves indoor air quality. Energy systems that have

proven successful in other ARCADIS-designed River

City buildings were also implemented in Amazon

Court. The combination of energy efficiency and

high-quality design led to the projects designation as

the Office Future Project 2008, awarded by MIPIM,

    Europes largest property market.

    River City PraguePrague, Czech Republic

    The location has been received

very well by both local andinternational companies. We

    believe that Amazon Court will

    continue the success story of

    River City Prague.

    Imagine

Professional sports facilities that serve both

    their fans and their cities

    The Result

The relocation of a top premiership football

club within the t ight confines of North London

In the early 1990s, Arsenal Football Club, faced with limited

room for expansion on its Highbury site, began the process

of looking for another urban London location for its new

stadium. With seating for only 38,419 fans, the existing

Arsenal facility had signi ficantly lower capacity than almost

all comparable European football clubs; and its season ticket

waiting list of more than 20,000 suggested the stadium size

was severely restricting potential income. The eventual

location of a nearby Ashburton Grove site for the new 60,000-

seat facility added even more complexity to the projectin

particular, the required relocation of 80 businesses and

much needed regeneration of the run-down industrial site.Originally retained as project and cost managers for the new

$200 mi llion stadium, ARCADIS AYH saw its role expand

rapidly to legal support, leading infrastructure negotiation

    Emirates StadiumLondon, UK

and assistance in the purchase and sale of residential

developments. This, in turn, brought about opportunities

for cross funding through commercial and residential

developments on a number of other sites throughout Islington.

Ultimately providing in excess of 2,500 new homes, including

the redevelopment of the existing Highbury Stadium, as

well as new waste and recycling centre for the Islington

Borough, the project made substantial improvements to the

community beyond the stadium walls. Within its walls, the

new 60,000-square feet sports facility offers 60,000 seats with

unobstructed views, seated dining for 7,000 spectators, 150executive boxes and fully automated access control. It was

delivered for the start of the 2006/07 football season two

weeks ahead of schedule and on budget.

We knew it was not going to be

easy. This project grew on us. Each

of the 120 users of the projected

    stadium site required a solution

    suitable to their needs. Some

    businesses stopped or were bought

    out; others relocated to sites

    acceptable to their requirements.

    Patience and flexibility helped

    us through that phase.

    class design credentials

    work in the commercial,

    market sectors.

    Imagine

Visiting a hospital thats also healthy for the

    environment.

    The Result

A sustainable new addition to an existing

    healthcare system.

The result of a strategic relocation of services in the

Oxford area, the movement of the Neurosciences and

adult Head and Neck specialties from the Radcliffe

Infirmary to the John Radcliffe site required both

creating a dramatic architectural statement and

    complementing the existing surrounding buildings.

In addition, the project includes construction of a

new Childrens Centre adjacent to the Neurosciences

facilities and a refurbishment project to create a

new teaching and research centre in the heart of the

existing hospital. RTKL provided an innovative and

sustainable solution that both creates a prominent

identity for both buildings and builds in flexibility

    for change.

All construction was designed to provide key flow

links into the ex isting facilities for services, inpatients

and staff, and the public. A dramatic entrancewith views in and out of the hospital is combined

with a break down in scale to provide a variety of

human-scaled places and complement the existing

architecture. Responding to the clients desire to

reduce deep plan spaces to maximize natural

daylight and ventilation, the design team strategically

located and oriented the buildings on site. The Head

and Neck Centre presents its longest elevation to the

north and its shortest elevation to the west; the south

elevation has solar brise Soleil and setback glazed

areas. Other sustainable architectural and engineering

technologies were also integrated into the project,

creating a tight, well-insulated and energy eff icient

environment. Distinctive materials, forms and colors

provide strong aesthetic identities for the two buildings

and create an inviting healthcare environment.
