Mission Statement
Utilizing Super Bowl weekend to mobilize youth to fight hunger andpoverty in their local communities.
Vision Statement
Transform the time around the Super Bowl into the nation's largestcelebration of giving and serving.
We believe:
The idea for Souper Bowl of Caring is a gift from God
Young people have the ability to serve and should be given opportunities to lead their
communities in helping others
Every dollar collected through Souper Bowl of Caring should be donated directly to a charityselected by each participating group
People of all backgrounds and beliefs can work together
Hunger and poverty have a negative impact on individuals and the communities in which theylive, yet there is joy in serving and giving to those in need
The excitement and energy surrounding the Super Bowl can be used to engage young people inservice while producing lasting hope for all people

During the month of February, West Lynchburg Baptist Church
will be collecting money for "Stop Hunger Now," an
organization attempting to alleviate world hunger. This
organization works in Haiti and around the world to help those
in need. Last year, more than 5 million meals and 300,000 tonsof aid were sent in to support the victims of the Haiti
earthquake. Stop Hunger Now has been working in Haiti since
1998 and is committed to working alongside the Haitian people as they rebuild and beyond.
To learn more about this ministry, go to www.stophungernow.org.
During February, please collect money in your Sunday School Classes or
send money to the church designated to "Hunger Relief" or to "Stop
Hunger Now." On March 11 at 10am, a group from WLBC will go to the

From Tommy Woodford - Up Date on the Knight Family
After reading Facebook updates for several days regarding Kenji, especially the ICU photo I saw duringthe very early morning hours; I gave Kevin a call. I spoke with Kevin this morning to get the lateston Kenji's condition, but also to see how he, Jessica and kids are holding up.
Here's the latest as of 11:30 pm Tokyo time. (about 9:30 am Eastern) Kenji is the ICU in criticalcondition, but stable. He is on 60% oxygen, which is down from 100% oxygen when he firstarrived at the children's hospital. He is on a special high frequency very advanced ventilator thatthis and only a few hospitals have in Japan. He has pneumonia in both lungs, experiencing somerespiratory and heart failure. His lungs are 100% filled with fluid. His temperature has reached ashigh as 40c, where he was packed in ice to get it back down. He's currently in a medically inducedcoma and his temperature is normal. Kenji is day to day, but his doctors are optimistic. It all goes as
they hope, his doctors plan to reduce the oxygen to 40%, place him back on the normal ventilatorand bring him out of the coma. Time will tell. It's very likely Kenji wouldn't have survived if hewasn't flown to the children's hospital. Kevin said things went downhill very quickly, withinprobably 30 minutes.
I'm sure Kevin and Jessica are exhausted. Kevin continues to attempt to work with and minister to thestudents and deal with their issues, take care of Kellen and Kolton and drive 2 hours each wayevery day to be with Jessica and Kenji. Jessica stays in the hospital at Kenji's side. Jessica's motheris coming to Japan to spend time with and help them out as they deal with Kenji's illness. She isexpected to arrive in Japan on Thursday.
Kevin told me that they've accepted the fact the Kenji's life is completely in God's hands. Kenji hastouched many lives in the short time he's been with them and he said God had a purpose for himbeing placed in their lives. The past 6 months to a year have been very tough on them. Kevin saidthat as their ministries have flourished, more challenges have been placed in their path to attack heirfaith. Though I know it's extremely tough on Kevin and Jessica; I'm convinced after talking toKevin that their faith is still unshakeable and no matter the outcome, their mission to spread thegospel will continue.
