Armortex®, the manufacturer of Armortex® composite fiberglass panels, manufactures UL Listed bullet resistant products. This composite material is made using woven roving ballistic grade fiber. We weave the cloth in-house where it is mechanically injected with a thermoset resin and placed in a hydraulic hot press, then pressed into flat rigid sheets available in 3’ or 4’ widths and lengths of 8’ or 9’. 10’ lengths are available on request. By using a ballistic grade fiber in our cloth, we can maximize our ballistic performances by consistently achieving a uniform resin-to-fiber ratio. This allows the proper de-lamination to encapture projectiles.

Excessive resin left behind in the manufacutring process results in a thicker, less safe product. By using the correct amount of pressure and heat during our curing process, excessive resin is eliminated from Armortex® Bullet Resistant Composite Fiberglass, always resulting in a product that provides the maximum amount of protection. Our Armortex® Bullet Resistant Composite Panels are approved by the U. S. Marshal Service, the General Services Administration, and complies with NIJ standards.

FS-3, one of Armortex®’s Frag-Stop Composites, is specifically designed, manufactured and certified to give a measured protection against shrapnel damage from blasts, as well as affording protection against simultaneous, multiple handgun attacks. Certified by the Southwest Research Institute using MIL-STD-622F (V-50) and MIL-P-46593A (Fragment Simulating Projectiles), this new product is the logical upgrade that exceeds UL 3 by 70%.

ARMORTEX® BLAST MITIGATION WINDOWS

In an increasingly unfriendly world we are seeing the growing use of explosive devices as tools of terrorism. Governments as well as private industry have developed new standards to address the threats to facilities and occupants. For blasts to be effective they must be close to the chosen target. Though it is not always possible to control the setback or standoff distance, windows and doors can be designed to mitigate most blast incidences. With these designs blast mitigation can be achieved to lessen injury and loss of life. ARMORTEX® now offers two product groups of blast windows, all of which are thermally broken. Our model 625 BL blast mitigation window protects against high blast overpressure up to 42 psi. Our model 625 BL/BR is also available for both blast and bullet resistant protection up to .30 cal. armor piercing. The model 625 windows are designed for commercial, industrial, military or Department of State applications. Additionally available from ARMORTEX® are our LP blast windows with low over pressure limits of 6 psi in compliance with the UFC 4-010-01 January 2007, GSA –TS01-2003 and ASTM F 1642-04. These models are LP 225 Projected, LP 225 Fixed, LP 400 Single Hung and LP 400 Fixed. A typical application for this type of window may be military bases, GSA facilities or other occupied public structures.
