Local lass survives jaws of death — tells all

Tamsin shows off some of her battle scars where the shark’s razor sharp teeth had cut into her forearms during the attack.

“Kyk, daar is ’n ster in God se venster.

“Sunrise, sunset. Sunrise, sunset. Swiftly flow the days. Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers, blos-soming even as we gaze. Sunrise, sunset. Sunrise, sunset. Swiftly fly the years.

VLIEG’S AUTHORITY SOMEWHEREChief MamatlepaThe current invader of Zwartkoppies farm Mooketsi

Dear Sir/MadamThe above mentioned Vlieg’s authority here by informing you that it is now a time to come to your senses. Vlieg emphasize that his intention is not to stop dreaming pro-cess. He only want you to use your head and realize that government has done noth-ing for you. As is the case in Mpumalanga, your chiefs and members of your tribal councils are being used as toys by govern-ment and it’s populistic opposition and you have, again, been blinded by empty promi-ses and propaganda ahead of forthcoming local elections.

Vlieg’s conditions are as follows should you like to use your heads

1. You will have to take care of yourself in water-electricity-monthly groceries and transportation. You have been brain or oth-er anatomical parts washed to believe that these things will just fall out of thin air, or

even thick air. You are being played in a very clever EFFort to win your votes.

2. It will be the duty of yourself to make sure that you and your chiefs are safe. By your action you are stimulating this pro-vince and country to be even poorer which means crime will only escalate. Not the po-lice or defence force will be able to keep you and your chiefs safe since they have already fallen apart and is probably the biggest crime syndicate in the country as it is.

The houses — Parliament and Union Buildings are and/or will be occupied by similar idiots as at present, until this coun-try cannot produce food for it’s people, un-til the Rand has depreciated so far that we have to convert to the US Dollar, until there is no water-electricity-monthly groceries and transportation to take care of.

Be also informed that this process will run until we have changed into our own little Zimbabwe and nothing is in good standing or capable to handle any situation, even in an improper way.

Vlieg still emphasize that he is doing this in a good and save way, he does not have any warriors and since our relation-ship with you is still in good standing. Speaking of warriors, Vlieg knows scare tactics, he often uses it on his maggots and pupa’s. It hardly ever works! And so does creating more racial tension and divide in a coun-

try that does not have anything to afford it.Today Vlieg is on the one wing glad that

Madiba is dead, that he did not have to experience what his so called people are doing to his legacy, and on the other wing sad that he is not here to have some sort of sanity prevail!

Hoping that the above is in order. And by the way, Mary Krismass!

“I kept thinking that if it bites me in the abdomen they won’t be able to get me to the hospital before I bleed out.” These were the thoughts running through the mind of beautiful young Tamsin Scott (22) as she forced both her arms into the jaws of a Bull shark.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning last week. Mark and Tessa Scott are from Tzaneen (their farm is close to Letsitele) and were on a family holiday at their usual spot, Mpande Bay — a pristine beach getaway on the Wild Coast of Transkei — when their daughter Tamsin was attacked.

“It was such a beautiful, clear day out at the beach, the sun was shining and the water was just crystal clear. We all headed to the beach early that morning. My mom was walking along the beach and my dad went in deep to swim in the breakers, but I stayed in the shallow water. For some reason I just had a bad feeling that morning and so I was too scared to go in deeper,” explained Tam-sin from her hospital bed in the high care unit at Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg. She chuckled as she explained that she was in about waist deep, and “I’m a small girl so it was really shallow water.”

“I felt a bump against my side from behind me and

when I turned around I saw the shark com-ing straight at me. I started punching at it with all my might, but it just kept coming and so I knew this was a fight I was not going to win.”

The shark’s razor sharp teeth cut into her flesh severing tendons, damaging nerve end-ings and rendering her arms and hands use-less. “I couldn’t use my hands at all and so I tried to kick the shark all the while screaming at the top my lungs. My dad, who was swim-ming nearby, rushed over and positioned himself between me and the shark and started beating the animal with his fists until it let go of me and swam away. He grabbed me in his arms and started running out of the water to the beach.”

The safety of dry land was little comfort as Tamsin was losing a lot of blood and they needed to get her medical attention soon. “We

managed to get her to the cottage where we applied first aid and tourniquets to stop the bleeding before rushing her off to the nearest hospital in the rural Isilemela. The doctor who happened to be on duty that day was a for-mer classmate of our eldest daughter while in medical school, and she assisted us in stabilizing Tammy. In the meantime I arranged with our medical aid to have her moved to another hospital for surgery,” her father told us.

There were no helicopters available in the Eastern Cape and so an ambulance was sent from Umtata, which was then used to transport Tammy to Umtata airport from where she was flown to Lanceria and taken to Millpark to be placed in high care.

At the time of the telephonic interview with Bulletin, Tammy was being prepped for surgery to repair some of the tendons in her arms. She sounded upbeat and strong as she related her tale. When asked whether she would swim in the ocean again, she chuckled in reply, “I don’t think it will be soon, but perhaps some time in the future I’ll get back in again.”

Another beauty queen from Nkowankowa... Miss Beauty in Christ is a beauty pageant that empowers young girls living in Limpopo. Many young girls really love pageants, but can’t enter because they’re not comfortable showing off their skin, or not feeling safe because of people who might behave badly in that environment. So it was decided to start a beauty pageant that will accommodate these girls. The owner of the rights for this pageant said, “We want to uplift, motivate and educate young girl’s, by giving them back hope and selfworth in themselves without any discrimination, in a safe family environment. We want to help them notice what the Lord has done upon their lives, and that their beautiful just the way God has created them. Mandisa Matsana (17) of Nkowankowa won this year’s competition. She is a pupil at Meridian College. Seen with her is 1st princess Tondi Maimela (in white dress) and 2nd princess Fikile Makhubele. Photo supplied

We would like to thank all our communities for having supported and co-operated with us as Greater Letaba Municipality council in discharging our

responsibilities, to ensure that our communities

receive services that they are entitled to, as guaranteed in the Constitution of the Republic of South

Africa, Act 108 of 1996, through limited resources

that our municipality have.

As we enter into festive season, wherein we will be reviving our family bond

and enjoying ourselves through interacting with

our friends, I urge all Greater Letaba Municipality citizens to

celebrate responsibly with love, humility and respect during this festive season. I also want to advice our community members to spend their money wisely during this festive season to ensure that you meet January 2016 financial obligations which include educational costs of our children.

Let’s obey and adhere to all the rules of the road. Don’t drink and drive, don’t drink and walk. By adhering to this will ensure that you arrive safely at home. You are further encouraged to remain at home and spend more times with our families and avoid travelling unnecessarily.

I would not be doing justice if I did not urge all citizens to use water sparingly

this festive season. With the national government having declared a national disaster on drought, we should ensure we use the available water responsibly. Let’s not water our gardens, Use a bucket to wash your car because every drop counts.

Crime has escalated drastically this festive. Criminals have already targeted women who have been saving their money through stockvel. Please ensure that as you share dividends of your money, you request the bank to transfer your monies into each member personal accounts. Let’s continue to adhere to tips that we receive from the police on how to handle and respond to crime. We should also take care of our children at all times.

2015 was a good year, God blessed us with many things, let us all be grateful for the blessings and continue to do good unto other people. Blessed is the hand that giveth. As we head into the New Year; we expect new and revived spirits, positive attitude towards life and the perseverance towards success. As the Mayor of Greater Letaba Municipality, I take this opportunity to wish all residents of the municipality and visitors a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We Love you all!

MESSAGEFestive Season

GREATER LETABA MUNICIPALITY

CLLR. MODJADJI G.H., MAYOR

I want to wish all the residents of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality and beyond a Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year.

The festive season is a very special time. It’s a time for family and friends to get together and reflect on the year gone by and celebrate the New Year.

As we all join together with our loved ones this Christmas let us all take time out to think of those less fortunate than ourselves.

Christmas is also a time for giving and re-ceiving, a time for sharing and for caring for each other. It’s a time for reaching out the hand of friendship and reconciliation and to making sure all members of our community are included.

As the Greater Tzaneen Municipality we continue to be African town, a town of the fu-ture. We continue to strive for a society that is united, democratic, non-racial, non-sexist and prosperous.

We continue to build a town that is green, clean and safe.

Most of us will be spending Christmas with

our family and friends, rejoicing and making merry but let us remember those who have no family, those who have been abandoned by their friends or who are many miles from home.

They may well spend Christmas alone. The festive season holds little joy for them. Maybe we could all do just one thing to help bring a little happiness into their lives - in the true spirit of Christmas.

The festive season is a time to be looking forward to the year that is about to unfold - a time of hope and of anticipation.

Hope that we will have good health and that we will continue to enjoy the love of our family and friends.

If going away for the festive season, please take extra care on the roads. Take all the nec-essary precautions in terms of your money and assets.

On behalf of the Councillors and staff at the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, I wish you and your families all a safe, peaceful and joy-ful Christmas and a Happy New Year.

As Oubal nie so min gepla was oor

Welgedaan, jong man!

Mag julle ‘n vreugdevolle Kersfees hê en ‘n nuwe jaar vol Wayde van Niekerks!“I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat.” — Winston Churchill

(Dwarshuis is in Australië gebore.)

STUDENT SPECIAL!R250 for

December HolidayCnr Windsor & Agatha St, Tzaneen 073 265 2650

resultate bring.
