Rotary's special months
May is . . . Youth Services
Month
For Rotary to remain current into the
future we need to nurture our young
people and encourage them to develop a
‘service ethic’. Interact and Rotaract
Clubs are a great way to do this. Having
young people access our Rotary programs
– of which there are too many to list here
- is another avenue for showcasing
Rotary’s work with our youth. They are
our future.
POWERBALL
Powerball is starting again. Get in
early to get your “own special
number/s”. Once the sheet is
completed the competition begins.
Got to be in it to win it. Don’t delay
– see Peter Richardson
Got 7 more numbers to fill before
we can get started. Have you got
yours?
Maybe get an extra one or two for
family members.
PLEASE CHECK THE HOST CHAIR ROSTER
DON’T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO FIND YOUR SPEAKER.
START LOOKING NOW!
Please notify Christine Goss as soon as possible about the guest speaker you have lined up, and their topic so she can
add it into the Speakers Program on our Website.
The earlier you do this the better. Guest speakers can then be advertised on our website in advance.

GUEST SPEAKER: Stephen Kendall Topic: Tripping through the snow
Stephen and Joanna’s recent trip to Europe seemed to be a fairly snowy affair as many photos showed. They spent time in Germany, or Bavaria more specifically, enjoying the sights of Munich and Oberammergau before heading to Neuschwanstein Castle to take in the sights there. This was followed by a visit to the German Legoland to compare how accurately Neuschwanstein Castle was re-created there. They moved on to Austria to spend time in Salzburg and Vienna to enjoy take in the sights there too. If you haven’t thought about travelling to Transylvania then re-consider say both Stephen and Joanna. They were amazed at the sights and history of this place. Apparently from what Stephen had to say this morning it has had quite a colourful history. He was very impressed with his prowess as an axe thrower – getting all 5 axes into the target zone. Their trip to Europe would not have been complete without a visit to the original Legoland in Billund, Denmark, where Stephen had a chance to sit and chat with his Lego friends (even if they are covered in snow!) He also got to have his photo taken holding a lego set he wanted as a child that he never got because of a misunderstanding by his Mum. This lego set is now housed in the vault at Legoland. He and Joanna got to spend time talking to administrative people at Legoland, so hopefully we can get more support for Bricktober from them. It sound like you both had a wonderful time on our holiday. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Got any ideas?
Know of a community group or
project that could use an injection
of up to $10,000? Let President
Mike know so we can spend this
