BULLETIN T1 W7 Friday 18th March 2016

Roger Ramjet was a favourite too.

‘Steve Austin - astronaut. A man

barely alive. Gentlemen, we can

rebuild him. We have the technology.

We have the capability to build the

world's first bionic man. Steve Austin

will be that man. Better than he was

before. Better, stronger, faster.’

The ‘$6,000,000 Man’ was my favourite Sunday night show. (It was Countdown, waste an hour then ‘Steve Austin’ time.)

Steve Austin was, is and will always be my favourite TV Super Hero.

He couldn’t recite all of the books of the bible like my wife can, but he could stick his arm into a pot of over cooking crabs and quickly

save them with out using a strainer. How handy would that be? In today’s Global Economic Crisis he would probably only be the

$2.5 million man, but he would still be my favourite. This Sunday is Palm Sunday and we will be thinking about Super

Heroes.

Not Super Heroes with capes and wrists that shoot with silky precision. Not underwater boomerang chucking amphibious heroes, but a Super Hero that rides a Donkey.

Riding a Donkey....it’s hardly a Super Hero thing to do?

But if you’re on a mission to save then world, then I reckon you are definitely a Super Hero, no matter what sort of car you drive!

READING IN THE MORNING

Everyone would agree that reading is a really important thing, especially

in a school!

Our staff have been considering ways we can improve the reading levels

at our school and we are inviting parents/caregivers to come on board

as we trial a new imitative.

From Monday to Thursday each class will (generally) start their day with

reading from 9.00am to 9.20am. Parents/Caregivers are encouraged/asked/urged to stay and listen to children read. Our aim is to have every student in our school read to an adult every day for a few minutes. All you

have to do is listen (and be encouraging and supportive of the students as

they read.)

We aim to formally start next week - Monday the 21st March - even though

many classes have slowly been adopting this routine!

‘HELP REPLACE EDDY’S BIKE’ APPEAL Up until a few weeks ago, Eddy (in Yr 7) rode his bike from his home at

Evanston Gardens to the train at Tamblin and then got off at Gawler Central

and rode to school.

But he can’t do that anymore as someone stole his bike out of the bike rack.

The bike was a birthday present and is valued at $600 and was stolen at the

start of the day by a member of the public aged between 15 and 25 with a

blonde mullet.

We are really disappointed about this. Not only for Eddy, but for our local

community as well. Unfortunately insurance

won’t cover this loss and so we are starting an

appeal called ‘Help us replace Eddy’s bike’.

Eddy is a terrific lad who has taken this well, but

we need to restore his faith in our community.

Members of our school and local community

are welcome to contribute to this cause and

can donate money directly to the school office

or via EFT (BSB 035 – 075 / ACCT 510 – 646)

LOCAL / Global / CONNECTED HOLY WEEK

Next week is Holy Week - it’s the week before

Easter Sunday and it’s a time of refection and

contemplation.

Our school community is invited to join us under the shelter for brief time of

refection next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 3.00pm. These reflections will be presented by staff groups.

And don’t forget, Year 2 Miss Treasure’s class will be leading our Easter Worship and Praise next Thursday 24th March at the end of the day starting at

2.45pm and on Tuesday 29th March at 9am we will start our week with Worship and Praise and “He is Risen” story with Mr Hueppauff.

his Kumite and for his team

Kata, and also bronze for his

individual Kata. This was the

first National Titles they have attended and both did very

PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAM - YEAR 4 EXCURSION

TO CLONLEA PARK

Last Friday as part of the “How the World Works” Unit of Inquiry - the year 4

students visited Clonlea Park. They explored areas of erosion and conserva%on

within the park precinct.

Thanks to the generous parent volunteers who accompanied the walk there

and back. It was a great day of fun and learning.

YEAR 6/7 CAMP - Aquatics at Aldinga Beach

Camp was excellent! We really enjoyed the surfing and the instructors were great.

At the caravan park the food was nice. Talitha C & Nikita P

Camp was lots of fun, I enjoyed boogie boarding the most.

Luca H

Camp was really enjoyable because we got to try new skills that most of us have

not tried before. Isabelle N & Laura C

I thought the camp food was great at camp because it actually tasted good and

wasn't like you were eating cardboard food! Ruby H

Camp was awesome, I enjoyed spending time with my friends. James C

I personally enjoyed the beach activities because I have never surfed before so it

was a fun, entertaining experience.

Ella R

Year 2’s

Year 2 Eckermann created a class

quilt where each student wrote an

attribute that they will contribute to

create a caring classroom environ-

ment for 2016.

Whiteboards “Grace changes everything”

At lunchtime last week Mrs Venning needed help with the whiteboards and

a group of Year 3’s happily agreed to help! Everyone wrote words and

phrases and drew images about ‘grace and love’. To have Jesus is to have

everything. God’s grace awakens within us a desire to share the love He

has shown us. Each day the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me. Psalm 42:8

SPORTING INFO / SCHOOL HOLIDAY CLINICS

SCHOOL HOLIDAY FOOTBALL COACHING CLINIC

During the Term 1 School Holidays the Central Districts Football Club conducts holiday coaching clinics for

boys and girls of any sporting ability between the ages of 5-12. The cost is a small fee of $40 per child which

includes T-shirt, lunch for both days and plenty of bulldog giveaways!

The children participate in a two hour football clinic running from 10.30am-12.30pm over two days.

The clinics on both days are lead by senior players of the CDFC who teach the children fundamentals of

Australian Football through drills, actvities, games and skills in a fun, friendly environment.

It is an exciting experience for the children to be involved in during the school holidays and interact with the

CDFC players. Children and parents also get the opportunity to go into the changerooms and witness where
