April 19, 2015 - 3rd Sunday of Easter Jesus the Advocate

Acts 3:13-15, 17-19 Peter proclaims Christ as ful-

filling God’s promises to Israel. Psalm 4 Lord, let your face shine on us. 1 John 2:1-5a Those who believe keep Jesus’ com-

mandments. Luke 24:35-48 Jesus’ final appearance to his disci-

ples If you watch enough crime shows, you learn that there are several kinds of evidence. Eyewit-ness testimony is from someone who sees the event in person. Circum-stantial evidence is sec-

ond-hand information. Hard evidence is something that is proof beyond the shadow of a doubt. In today’s Gospel, Jesus used his own body to give the disciples real evidence of his resurrection. He didn’t want the story to be clouded by the possi-bility that the disciples were imagining things and that he was just a ghostly apparition. Jesus meant for them to know that it was truly him in the flesh. He showed them his wounds and went so far as to ask them for food, which he ate in their presence. He was the same Jesus who had been taken down dead from the cross. Real evidence. -- Dc. Dick Folger

Next Week’s Readings… Acts 4:8-12 Peter proclaims Jesus as Savior to the

Sanhedrin. Psalm 118 The stone rejected by the builders has

become the cornerstone. 1 John 3:1-2 We are God’s children now. John 10:11-18 Jesus is the Good Shepherd.

The Diocesan Separated & Divorced Healing Ministry Support Group meets every second

and fourth Monday, 7-9 p.m. at the Mount Carmel Spiritual Centre, in Niagara Falls. Topic for April 27th - The Annulment Process. For information call 905-356-4113 or 905-684-0154 or email [email protected]

Building Fund Pledges & Donations

Pledge cards may be placed in a sealed envelope clearly addressed to the office and dropped in the weekend collection basket. We ask that you prayerfully consider what sacrifice you can make to

support the church. Please take the time to com-plete a card with your intentions. Your pledges as-sist us in our financial planning. Building Fund en-

velopes are found in your box of envelopes or at the Church entrances for donations that are to go specifically to the Building Fund .

Lawn Maintenance - Help Needed

We are looking for someone to do the weekly (as needed) lawn mainte-nance for the parish and rectory with compensation. Please call the parish office if you are interested.

Please Pray for the Grade 2 students of our parish who will be celebrating First

Eucharist on Sunday May 3rd.

Spanish Mass The 5 p.m. Spanish Mass will resume for the sea-son on April 19th. If you know a farmer who may have some Hispanic Migrant workers, please spread the word. Posters with details are available at the church if you wish to provide one.

Diocesan Website

We are making significant changes to the Diocesan website www.saintcd.com to make it easier to navi-gate, more focused on local news and information, and better suited to meet the needs of the diocesan church. A brief survey has been created to gather anonymous input from clergy, religious communi-ties, parishioners, Catholic students, teachers and administrators, volunteers, people involved in dioc-esan and parish organizations and ministries, and anyone with an interest in our local church. Please help and complete the survey by copying and past-ing this link into your browser. This link is also post-ed on the website: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KYMY68W.
