Welcome to St. Athanasius Orthodox Church! Upon entering church, please wash your hands, wear a mask,
& keep some distance from other households. Team Lazarus (last names beginning P-Z) will be downstairs in the parish hall for
the Sunday Liturgy…90 people is our firm cap for the nave, narthex, and altar.
Reminder: Holy Communion is only given to Orthodox Christians who have kept fast, made recent confession, and are at peace with neighbors.
Feast for the Meeting of the Lord in the Temple is February 2. Forty days after His birth the God-Infant was taken to the Jerusalem Temple, the center of the nation’s religious life. We commemorate this feast with:
★ Vigil Service on Monday at 6:30pm Confessions 8pm following Vigil
★ Festal Liturgy at 9am on Tuesday
Wednesday Vespers will be served at 6:30pm. The weekly Christian Ed Class will follow at 7:20pm in the parish hall. Fr. Justin will be presenting Part 4 of the Church History Series, "The Age of the Ecumenical Councils," covering the late 4th, 5th, and early 6th centuries. As always, everyone is welcome to attend this weekly class.
Super Saturday Update Thanks to our teachers and students who participated in this past weekend's "Super Saturday," from 4:30pm through Vespers. Mark your calendars for our next Super Saturday on February 20, 4:30pm through Vespers. Our theme for the day is TBA.
Today we Welcome Jennie Heyn as our newest Catechumen during Divine Liturgy.
Many Thanks to those who have contributed to our Anniversary Celebration today!❖ Oma Lopes and daughter Vitoria who made cupcakes for today!❖ Audrey Wagner & her sister, Della, for donating the materials, and making the fire pit! ❖ Our diocese for giving us interest on our building deposit that purchased the shed!❖ Work crews over the last 6 weeks who have helped with various indoor and outdoor
improvements around the church! Girls Group and Youth Group will once again be appearing on the
calendar and bulletin schedules as we take baby steps towards more normal church life. Girls Group will meet tonight at 6pm and the Youth will meet next Sunday, Feb. 7, at 6pm. Stay tuned for more communications from the Girls Group and Youth leaders.
The Sunday of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Communist Yoke will be observed this year on Sunday, February 7. Both Vigil, for the Eve, and the Sunday Liturgy itself will feature hymns and stories about these wondrous saints, who shone forth in recent memory. This year, we are keeping this feast in tandem with the Church of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine.
Friday’s 11am Akathist Service will be to St. Elizabeth & Other New Martyrs with confessions following. St. Elizabeth is the patron saint of our parish sisterhood.
