March 22, 2015 - 5th Sunday of Lent No Matter the Cost
Ezek 37:12-14 God promises a new covenant with Israel. Psalm 130 Create a clean heart in me. Rom 8:8-11 He was made perfect through obedi-ence. John 11:1-45 Jesus predicts his coming death.
Dead Man Walking, the 1995 film starring Susan Sar-andon and Sean Penn, brought to life Sr. Helen Prejeans book of the same name, which launched Prejeans worldwide crusade to abolish the death penalty. When a condemned pris-oner begins that somber pro-
cession toward the execution chamber, the prison guard announces those words: Dead man walk-ing. They begin moving down the corridor under the stark fluorescent lights, shrouded in silence for this last grim ritual. Jesus himself was a dead man walking in those final days in Jerusalem. He knew death awaited him. There was no turning back. There was no way out of walking to his execution. But his death would not be the end. In todays Gospel, Jesus announces his death and his resur-rection to his friends: The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. -- Dc. Dick Folger
Next Weeks Readings Isa 50:4-7 Gods suffering servant brings us hope. Psalm 22 Why have you abandoned me? Phil 2:6-11 A hymn to Jesus humility and exaltation Mark 14:1-15:47 The suffering and death of Jesus

The exhibit features a life size (14) replica of the Shroud, artifacts related to the Passion, and 28 large panels describing the Shroud from scientific, historical and theological perspectives. John C. Iannone is a Christian writer, lecturer and filmmaker who has studied the Holy Shroud of Turin for over 35 years. For more infor-mation contact: [email protected] 519-426-3249.
