United States Head Coach David Hunt: “We knew from seeing Honduras play those fi rst two matches that they play good volleyball. We knew what they were capable of doing so it wasn’t a surprise, which was good. We were down at the fi rst technical meout in sets 2 and 3. We talked about it. (Regarding Panama Match-Up in Final) We’re playing Panama in the fi nal. Panama’s a good team. We have a lot of respect for Panama. I think they’re big and physical, probably the most physical team we’ve faced in the tournament. We’ve got to be ready.“

USA Captain Kelly Reeves: “This match was mentally tough. You’ve got to stay disciplined and play our game of USA Volleyball. We’re excited for tomorrow. We’re going to rest up tonight and go back at it tomorrow.”

Honduras Head Coach Marcos Tejada: “I think today we played our best match of the tournament. We were able to improve in the areas we were lacking in earlier. We respect the USA team, but I thought we played a very good game today. We served well, spiked well and played a complete match. This is a big step for Honduras.”

Honduras Captain Estela Duron: “We overcame the obstacles we have had earlier in this tournament against a big USA team. I thought we played a good match considering how big the USA team is. We knew it was going to be a diffi cult match, but we were able to stay focused and we had fun, also. We gave it our best eff ort and laid it all out. Tomorrow we play Guatemala for third place, and we look to do be er than the last me we played against them. We are very mo vated to play well tomorrow.”

Panama Head Coach Reynaldo Ortega: “Ever since we have been training for this tournament, our main objec ve has been to beat Honduras, beat Guatemala and go to the fi nals and maybe get second place. I am sa sfi ed with our performance so far, and I want to congratulate my team on today’s win. I am very proud of my players. (On his team’s 14-6 advantage in blocks) Our blocking today was very good, and it’s something we prac ce a lot. We have a tall team, and one of our goals was to come here, work hard and block well. I am happy to see us do well in that area.”

Panama Captain Joanna Arroyo: “First of all I have to give the honor to God because I think he was in the middle of all this. We really prayed for this game ... we prayed to be focused and I think that was one of the keys to helping us win the match. Even though we were down, we came back up and fi nished up strong.”

Guatemala Head Coach David Aldana: “The main diff erence today was the lack of confi dence and trus ng in what we could do. In the fi h set, we did not see that trust and confi dence come through.”

Guatemala Captain Diana Arias: “Above anything else and what Panama did, at the end we were not concentra ng and that made us lose. Tomorrow we will come in as we did today with the same desire – to win. We play Honduras and hope for a be er outcome.”
