DESCRIPTION

Dominicans secure ticket to FIVB WL playoffs Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, July 12, 2012 – Dominican Republic secured a ticket to the playoffs of the FIVB World League after outdueling Mexico 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 30-28) in an exciting match of the VII Men’s Pan American Cup in Santo Domingo on Thursday. The young Mexico team offered strong resistance against a local team that didn’t slow down after losing the first set and claimed a victory that earned the right to play in the qualification playoffs for the annual men’s event of FIVB. The other semifinalists –Brazil, United States and Argentina- are already qualified to next year’s FIVB World League based on their positions at this year’s event.

Brasil consiguió seguir a semifinales

Page 15: Bulletin No 5 Men´s Panamerican Cup Dominican Republic

the first set. "The Canadian team is very young but has a very strong blocking and good

defense training, which created us many difficulties."

He added that "many of those players can reach the main selection, are tall and strong,

but we knew how to get the path to victory. Now to rest, some players show wear and

tomorrow against Argentina will be a hard crash, is a rookie team, only three seniors,

but well trained and committed very few errors. "

For his part, Lawrence McKay, DT of the rivals, praised his team showed progress

during these four games, "this was better than the others and I just hope it continues

to develop and gain experience”.

Raphael Vieira de Oliveira, Auriverde captain said, "It was very bad the first set, the

Canadians put us in trouble. We are happy to have reached the semifinal, but if we win

we need to play better tomorrow against the Argentines".

Maxwell Burt, the Canadian leader, said that "Brazil is a very difficult team against

which we must fight, they force any contrary to have to earn every point. It was noted

they are young, but if they showed in the first set which team they can be, we lacked

of consistency to win”.

sets”.

The Mexican cast DT, Jorge Miguel Azair, congratulated the local, "playing at home and

winning is always exciting, and you have to be big in victory or defeat and I think my

team played well, but it is true that our lack of fitness affected us, we lower service

level, and consequently the attack, especially with the speed that we were playing, but

I recognize that Dominicans played better and I'm proud of my people because they

played well against a team that has years with his players together, and now harvest

an outcome that have been working for".

Its captain, opposite Jose Miguel Caceres, and setter Francisco Abreu, agreed that "it

was a difficult game because Mexico has demonstrated quality games and we have

taken at a disadvantage, now we concentrate and get ready that we could win."

everyone knows that Dominicans have a good game, we started well but the

inexperience betrayed us to move forward and we recognize that won the best".
