As this Lions year meanders to a close, the impact of Covid 19 on the Country is growing ever wider. In recent days we have heard that the Services Club is reducing the size of functions to 40 and seating at round tables; or meetings sitting at rec-tangular tables a maximum of two each side with a maximum of 8 attendees. It’s a sign of the times and one would imagine other licensed premises will follow suit down the track. Should all of this occur, there are likely impacts on future meetings and our changeover. Watch this space. As we approach the end of the year it doesn’t hurt to remind members that there are going to be occasions where vigorous debate occurs, you may not like what is said or the result but the democratic process needs to be respected. We need to remind ourselves at times that Project Chairpersons and Committees are appointed to organize and manage those events. Let’s treat each other with kindness ………. and en-joy Lions for the pleasure it gives us as individuals. Kind regards John

Members, early last year I took a mobile call while in a Lions Meeting. It was my son who wanted to talk to me. I told him I was at a Lions Club meeting and would call him later. I did not call him back and, in that fort-night my son committed suicide. At the next Lions meeting, then President Bill Starr noticed I looked sad and asked me why. “I have just lost a son” I told him. Bill mentioned it at the meeting that night. There is one thing about that night that sticks in my memory. While we were waiting to go to the meeting, a Lady not connected to the Lions Club but in the indoor bowls club, came up to me and put her arms around me. Her name was Mary Whitaker. ( now a member of Lions} A simple act of kindness that meant so much. Thank you Mary

Members we all have stories of kindness. If you would

like to share a story of Kindness please send me an

e-mail. Keep you story concise and I will publish it in the

A Blonde, a redhead, and a brunette were lost in the desert. They found a lamp and rubbed it. A genie popped out and granted them each one wish. The redhead wished to be back home. Poof she was back home. The brunette wished to be at home with her family. Poof she was back home with her Family. The Blonde said .”Awwww, I wish my friends were here”

Many years ago in

Scotland , a new game was in-

vented. It was ruled

'Gentlemen

Only...Ladies Forbidden'.. .and

thus, the word GOLF entered

Into the English language.

Monty Kelly, a rich man who lived near Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia decided that he want-ed to throw a party. So he invited his buddies in-cluding Darrel, the only aborigine in the neighbour-hood. The party was held around the pool in the back-yard of Monty's mansion. Everyone was having a good time dancing, eating prawns, oysters and drinking and flirting. At the height of the party, the host said, 'I have a 16ft man-eating crocodile in my pool and I'll give a million dollars to anyone who has the balls to jump in.' The words were barely out of Monty's mouth when there was a loud splash and everyone turned around and saw Darrel in the pool fighting the croc, jabbing the croc in the eyes with his thumbs, throw-ing punches, doing all kinds of stuff like head butts and choke holds, biting the croc on the tail and flip-ping the croc through the air like some kind of Judo Instructor. The water was churning and splashing everywhere. Both Darrel and the croc were screaming and raising hell. Finally, Darrel strangled the croc and let it float to the top like a dead goldfish. Darrel then slowly climbed out of the pool. Every-body was just staring at him in disbelief. The Monty says, 'Well, Darrel, I reckon I owe you a million dol-lars.' 'Nah, you all right boss, I don't want it,' said Darrel. The rich man said, 'Man, I have to give you some-thing. You won the bet. How about a new car?' 'No thanks. I don't want it,' answered Darrel. The host said, 'Come on, I insist on giving you some-thing. That was amazing. How about a new Rolex watch and some stock options? Again, Darrel said "No." Confused, the rich man asked, 'Well Darrel, then what do you want? Darrel said, 'I just want the b****** who pushed me in.'
