The distance taken from the huge ex graffiti on the East side of the site, and the proposition of a similar concrete wall on the opposite one, so as to give an open air gallery for street artists, shows the intention not to make an abstracted object from the context, but a sort of neighbourhood’s continuation. A wide and long avenue, climbs diagonally this wall, in order to make people pass along and get into a public terrace projected on the river, with a bar and a play room. The wall loses his role of “separation maker”, and becomes a connection structure for a new public situation, open to everyone. “The wall” is freed from his ancient meaning, it’s dematerialized, you can pass through it. The interior levels are cut, so as to obtain several expositions on the South side, and they’re linked by suspended passages, that allow natural light and air to get into the entire site. We put different typologies at each level, in order to mix paths and obtain a sense of “mixitè sociale”, which is an important character of the entire district. A greenhouse is placed on the south façade of the building, in order to symbolize the new life of the site, and to give a thermal equilibrium to the entire student side (about the 31% of the covered surface). The project is based on the respect of the present and an attempt of past’s parody.
