INTRODUCTION
• BUSA elections are held annually
• 17 positions up for election
• 6 Executives, 11 Directors
• Coordinated in conjunction with Bondstock
BUSA’S ROLE
• Overarching student representative body at Bond
University
• Represent students‟ views and concerns to members of
Senior Management
• Advocate students‟ views and concerns to various
university academic committees – including Academic
Senate
• Facilitate the allocation of SAM funding each semester
• Act as the overarching body for all cultural and sporting
clubs
BUSA’S STATUS
• Legally incorporated entity under the Associations
Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld)
• Financial reporting requirements
• Legally binding constitution establishes the BUSA
Management Committee – responsible for conducting the
business of BUSA

ADVOCACY DIRECTOR

• Represents and advises students on
university policy, procedure and
process for academic and
administrative issues
• Manages the legal referral service
• Manages the “Reconnect Program” for

PUBLICATIONS DIRECTOR

TREASURER

• Ensures the financial viability and
success of BUSA by maintaining budgets
and accounts
• Responsible for the semesterly allocation
of SAM funds
• Works closely with clubs and societies to
ensure semesterly allocations of SAM
funds are optimised
PROMOTIONS DIRECTOR

ELECTION PROCESS
• “First past the post” ballot system
• Candidates may run individually, as a partial ticket or a
complete ticket
• Election will be governed by “Election By-Laws”
• Specific information regarding voting times etc. will be released in
these by-laws
