Bush Tucker Track Visitors from
Alexandria Park Community School
On Thursday, it was a hot sunny day as the kids in our class rushed out into the
COLA. I was paired with Peyton. We toured two kids from Redfern school. They were
in Year 12. We showed them the murals, the whale, the fish and the dolphins and
the seasonal calendar. They loved the seasonal calendar! We went to the bush
tucker track and showed them all the edible things, like native ginger, plum pine and
Davidson plum. We then played a game of basketball. It was fun.

On Thursday, Seb, Zane and I went and showed two
people from Redfern the murals and bush tucker track.
The people loved learning about the 14 different plants -
they even tried eating sarsaparilla but they said it was
yuck. By Payton McMurray

Hello, Giinagay, Hai,
Every day our teachers are making a positive difference -
creating opportunities for their students, empowering
minds of young people and proudly teaching our state's
future leaders, innovators and influencers. World
Teachers' Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate
and thank teachers for the important role they play
across our state - inside our classrooms and out in the
community.
Our teachers are:
Creating opportunities
Empowering minds
Proud to teach
School Administrative and Support (SAS) staff make an
important contribution to student progress and
achievement through their support of school
management, teaching practice and the maintenance of
positive relationships with students, parents and the
community. Our non-teaching members of staff, school
administration, School Learning Support Officers,
support staff, parent volunteers and P&C members are
all part of our Scotts Head PS team transforming lives.
I would like to acknowledge the outstanding job Kelly
Pacey does as our Relieving School Administrative
Manager (SAM). Kelly just spent two days in Sydney at a
coaching and mentoring conference for SAMs enhancing
her skills. Kelly contributes to our school with the
sharing of the management responsibilities. This
includes taking on the budget and other fiscal matters;
transportation and permission slips for excursions, pays
and leave for all staff; and even managing student
discipline in some cases and all the student health care
needs.
By relieving some of the administrative tasks, Kelly does
everything possible to help maximize my time. This
allows me the time to meet with students, teachers,
families and community. This also enables me to
relentlessly focus on school improvement as an
instructional leader, building leadership teams,
supporting discipline and wellbeing. All this builds
teacher confidence and satisfaction, and student
achievement.
Congratulations to Bu Deb and Shannon on the arrival of
their baby girl, Halle.
Good luck to Jalaara and Tegan who are at the State
Athletics Carnival in Sydney.
Thanks, yaarri yaraang, terima kasih.

POSTPONED
Postponement of Puppet Camp
Hello Everyone,
I'm really sorry but due to the sad passing of a cherished
Elder from Bowraville today we feel we have to postpone the
puppet camp that was to run this coming week. I'm sorry to
disappoint all those children but we feel it wouldn't be right
to go ahead with it at this time. It probably won’t go ahead till
term 1 in 2019. I'll let you know when we set another date.
Thanking You,

It is important that children know
how to wash their hands
thoroughly.
It is especially important when we
have a students with healthcare
issues. We ask parents to
supervise hand washing at home
and encourage them to follow
good handwashing skills at
school.

Last Thursday the 4/5/6 students went to the Bowraville Memorial cup to play touch football. We went there in loving
memory of Evelyn Greenup, Clinton Speedy-Duroux and Colleen Walker. When we arrived we had a ceremony to honour
the three children and had three minutes of silence for each child, Uncle Martin and a few other elders and children did
a smoking ceremonial dance. The rest of the day we did all sorts of activities when we weren’t on the fields. At the end of
the day they handed out awards for the winning team, the second team and best and fairest, the people who won best
and fairest from our school were Roman Krause, Grace Hill, Kobi Evans, Urukhai Vallance and Jye Berthold. We all had
heaps of fun and we got an awesome shirt, henna designs, face painting, stationary etc. Thank you to everybody who
organised it, we all had an amazing day! By Kasi and Nina
